Hmm. Devaluation . Nawao... And our income is not increasing!! Till when is someone suppose to endure all this?..
Government is cutting cost, not paying salaries on time, increasing and creating unnecessary VAT and yet inflation is still dealing with the little that is left for the citizens to manage!
God pls help us!

You are right! God's kingdom is the only solution to mankind's problems.

All of us cannot japa, but it doesn't change the fact that the highly unfriendly government policies will never favor those who have doubled or those who are intending to double their hustle

Maybe your time at Yankee was not favorable unlike now, in that case you should count yourself lucky (which is rear in this administration)

The rate of inflation of general commodities especially food items is alarming to me angry. I have been in the southeastern part of the country since the end of January and some commodities like bread, soft drinks and even food have inflated by up to 50% since January. Please I am really confused about this situation.
And also surprisingly no one is talking about it..
Economists and analysts in the house is there any particular reason for this fast inflation... Is it oil?, naira? Incompetence? Or even corruption? Fulani herdsmen? flood? I am really being sincere with my question!

Good afternoon.

The reason is simple. We like to consume yet we don't produce what we like to consume.

Your contribution is not complete and correct with out adding high insecurity situation in the country !!
vcente:
causes
1. High cost of transportation compared to last year.

2. High operating cost for the companies. Due to (fuel, phcn, taxes)

3. General inflation caused by a very strong US dollar.(this has affected every country) however our own is different due to our excessive borrowing. With a weaker currency we are repaying loans at twice the rate at which we borrowed. Starting the above processs all over again. Leading to a weaker naira.

solution
A stable country and economy leads to a stronger currency.

Learn how to (sanction, transfer and punish) members of your administration who deviate and who's actions effectively inflame the polity. This includes but not limited to policemen, ministers or members of the armed forces.
Our leaders and our governors should at all times. Embrace actions that promote peace and prosperity.

Good afternoon.

I was in the South East some months ago. There is an inflation with the devaluation of the naira but furthermore ...the reason why the South East seems to be worst hit is because of the embargo the leading oligarchs have placed against the Easterners.

Whether you like it or not, there is a silent ethnic war perpetrated by the Northerners against the South Easterners.

How? From Lagos to the South east there are hundreds of Custom police and military checkpoints that extort drivers bringing in goods into the East. These extortions have adverse effect on the prices of essentials coming into the East.

Let me give you a good example...Golden Penny company produces flour and pasta... now when the truck delivering these products are heading to the North, there are no custom checkpoints on the route leading to the north so no extortion from the truck drivers.

But the FG has made sure that these checkpoints are imposed on the route to the East and by the time they collect thousands of naira from the truck drivers bringing in these things, the production company has no other option than to increase the prices of these goods...so you see?

The reason for this plot is to make sure that the people of the South East die of hunger but UNFORTUNATELY for them, they don't realize that Igbos are dogged and rugged and no matter what, we will never starve unlike them that have started eating grass to survive!

See what happened in Oba over the weekend where money was being lavished anyhow like there is a minting outlet in every home.

Infact, when they saw the "hunger plan" did not work, they decided to seize the opportunity that ESN brought to import terrorists into the South East and tag them unknown Gun Men UGM

Good afternoon.

It's a combination of all factors but you left one out: COVID-19.

Globally inflation is rising as a fallout of the pandemic. Supply lines are struggling, some items are scarce.

The country is getting hard for everybody and the faster we all unite the hold this government accountable for the hardships they've brought on Nigerians, the better.

It doesn't matter what you claim to be and how you see others. You need to eat and pay you bills in NIGERIA. If inflation keeps increasing at this rate, both you and the people you call "terrorists" will suffer the same fate. Hunger doesn't care about your ethnicity or religion neither does the bills.

And incase I forget, your ipob and oduduwa shit is dead on arrival incase you don't know, unless you live in some kind of fantasy Disney world.

The problem with us in this country is nobody wants to take responsibility. We are all looking for who to blame..

You that is complaining of high cost of foodstuffs, what have you done to salvage the situation?

Have you been to the farm? The normal excuse everybody gives is "everybody cannot be a farmer", which is true.

But if a bank manager or a software developer can make as much as six figures monthly, why can't farmers make as much? Is it because they don't have certificates?

Garbage Shehu said he was told that only about 3% of our lands are being cultivated. What happened to the other 97%? Imagine if 50% of our lands are being cultivated? Food will be in excess.

Nobody wants to be a farmer but every body wants to buy cheap food.

You complain of herdsmen, bandits, kidnappers, et'al. Yet, you want those that are risking their lives to produce these foodstuffs to sell it at a cheap price.

Some of Una matter tire me for this shithole

PS: I'm neither APC nor PDP

Everyone can't be a farmer because technology has allowed for more food to be produced with less labour.

Also farming is not free, cheap or easy.

You need to buy land, seeds, young animals, take care of them full time, watch for pests and disease, pay vet bills and so on.

Do you expect a full time office worker, doctor or engineer with different projects and responsibilities to travel to a different state every day or week just to watch his farm?

The entire economy would crash.

Nigeria's problem is not a lack of farmers, it is an economic and security framework that was designed to fail from the start.

No be Buhari be the cause of every problem wey dey face Nigerians... Sometimes,we really need to be factual and be honest with ourselves....An average Nigerian sees any slight opportunity as a way to exploit his fellow Nigerians....Abi na Buhari dey sell flour? Na Buhari dey sell cement? undecided
Abi na Buhari dey process cassava?

An average Nigerian like I said has the interest of the devil himself in his heart than that of his fellow Nigerian..

Knowing all this, our President closed the borders and believed the price of rice would come down.

Buhari gave Dangote free reign to sell his cement and flour abroad during the closure mind you.

Buhari is part of the problem.

We are our own problem, imagine somebody voting for Buhari in 2019 after four years of suffering already
Even the northerners who are suffering the most under his administration will still vote for him for third term(if possible) and suffer just for the misguided pride they think they have because the leader is one of them

This will bite salary earners more harder

Commodities in the market will keep increasing while salary earners will be stuck on the same income.

Buhari is a misfit!

1- insecurity. A lot of farmers can’t go to the farm.

2- infrastructural deficit- a lot of the produced goods are perishable and a lot got wasted due to lack of preservation. Infact there’s nothing can be done without ELECTRICITY

3- lack of visionary leaders- what are our politicians doing to checkmate the rising price of food items?

Recommendation

All Nigerians should just brace up for the worst. The price gonna keep going up, unless buhari done something ASAP. But what can Buhari dunderhead do?

I am of the opinion that , until the southern Nigeria produces at least 50% of what it consumes , we will always have problems.
Locally grown food are relatively cheap in the north . The killer herdsmen are using the idea of killing farmers to starve the nation , since you don't want to give us grazing routes , you sef will not use the land.
Qnd again middlemen are not helping matters
And also surprisingly no one is talking about it..
