Dad is Yoruba and his mom is Ibo. If you check his twitter handle, there's actually "Ugo" there.

Mother's tribe is irrelevant in state of origin. You are from where you father is from.

Keep fooling yourself. Igbos on average are shorter than Yorubas. You can take that to the bank.

I am a very progressive human being.
I don't pander to tribal BS in Nigeria.

Hard core igbos will even agree with you, but they would be wrong too.

A child is biologically made up of both the father and mother and belongs to both.

In the west, it even belongs to the mother more.

He is Yoruba, I agree. But he is Igbo too.

Ahem

Success has many fathers

That's your own thinking. Most Yorubas I've met are shorter and thinner than Igbos on average. Most Igbos are tall and huge as compared to Yorubas.

Just like Hakeem Olajuwon short and skinny? Olodo. Look at the picture of his father a tall man. His Igbo mother is very short.

And the tallest Nigerian is a Yoruba guy. And everyone knows Igbos are among the shortest in Nigeria.

They are both tall though the father is taller....the mother was a high jumper, father a soccer player/ dj

You tribalistic clowns are here again! Are you arguing if Giannis has an Igbo mum or what? Or are you so docile that you can't check his profile to know where he is from.

His full name is : Giannis(Greek) Sina(Yoruba) Ugo(Igbo) Antetokunpo (Yoruba hellenized to Greek), so what's the fuss about?

Omo Wa ni

It's obvious from the name

Adetokunbo ~ Antetokunompo

Modified: I think his parents are late, If not this shouldn't be difficult to trace @ all, owing to the fact that he's now successful and everyone would like to associate with successful people.
I'm super sure his relatives either close or distant would show up when he comes around

Most likely to be from Oyo state!

It's boldly stated in his and his other three brothers who are also basketballers Wikipedia..
His Father is Charles a Yoruba man while his mother is Veronica an Igbo woman, he can claim the two tribes..
Infact they have a fifth brother who is the first born, he was left in Lagos with his grandma when they were immgrating to Greece.

If you're truly proud of black then you shouldn't have represent greece with fake greek surname. Rubbish

He said the truth, which one is attache by force now? What's so special in being attached to whatever? All these mumu yorubas sef..
check his profile on wikipedia.it's not his fault.he suffered been stateless for almost 18years if his life because of the Greece law on citizenship despite he was born and breed there.representing Greece for basketball give him opportunity to get Greece citizenship which error was made when transliterating his name into Greece alphabetical letters.hence forming another similar name while trying to transliterate it again from Greek to english.he was then privilege to have his Nigerian citizenship identity from Nigeria in 2015 after his recognition in basketball.
The whole scenario is never his fault.do you ever think of how a teenager will feel if he is been seen as outcast, osu, stateless in his country of birth and can't even claim his parent's country?it really hurts

That's a subjective assertion. I haven't met half the people you've met, and you've not met half the people I've met. I grew up in Lagos, but now base in my town, PH. While in Lagos, in my high school, the tallest boys I knew were Igbos, same when I went to University. Yours could be the other way round, so no problem.
