What exactly does survive mean in this context?

It's like asking Oil & Gas workers if they will survive leaving Exxon. The answer is yes but we would earn very low. Like 150k or something way lower for a long time. Some careers are buzzing right now, people earn a lot, not because they are doing something extra ordinary but because their industry makes more money.

I used to wonder why football players earn a lot, the answer is stupidly simple. It's because football brings in a lot of money.

Teachers earn very little because teaching brings in very low amount of cash for the schools.

At the end it's all about money, let no one fool you.

The truth is that many of these "tech" businesses aren't going to be around for the next decade. I feel it is a bubble, those that will survive are the ones with strong fundamentals. How do I know? Many of them don't turn a profit but continually depend on seed funding from investors who are afraid of missing out on the next [insert tech company name], that is not sustainable.

You can survive in other industries, although the salary might not be as generous as in tech.
