My advise go for a cheapest accommodation for now or get a flatmate

You obviously don't live.in Lagos, cheapest accomodations less than ₦250k means he will end up living in a room and parlor face me i face you or one dejected building in one lungu

You can,the rule is if your Annual rent is more than your 3months salary you might struggle to pay.
But in this case it is,so why worry? job security is what should worry you.

Of course you can rent an apartment of 250k with 80k monthly salary. However you'll have to consider other things.

Feeding - how much it would cost you to eat every month. Do you buy your foodstuffs in bulk or you buy your meals from an eatery.

utility bills -Light , water, lawma etc.

Transport fair to and from work everyday

Dependents- parents, siblings , cousins , girlfriend(s) etc.

Savings- as a salary earner, you must save up part of your income. This will help you ,in case you loose your job or have an emergency

Get a piece of paper and a pen. Write all these expenses out. Calculate it.

Then, from whatever is left, calculate your rent. you'll know if you can afford all these expenses every month (comfortably) or if you have to tweak some things in your budget.

Remember, a monthly and yearly budget is very important if you want to live a stress free life.

Not advisable at this present situation, some unforeseen circumstances may also arise, remember you are just looking at 80k like huge money but I test you is not.

This is exactly my life story, my salary was 80 den and I'm married with two kids. So, ask me I dont have option than to stay in one bed room apartment .

General rule of thumb, your rent shouldn't be more than your 2 months income. However there are other factors to consider

1. Proximity to work - If the accommodation is close to the work place and you will not be spending on transportation OR there's a company's vehicle/ bus on that route and you will not be spending on transportation or your transportation cost will be a lot less compared to a cheaper accommodation.

2. Security: This is really important, cheaper accommodation comes with less security. I know someone who learnt this the hard way, he got robbed of 2 laptops, 1 phone and other valuables including those that didn't belong him within a year.

3. Light, Water, Hygiene and Comfort: Health is truly wealth, the money you think you will save on rent you may end up spending on Petrol for gen, Medications, Drinking water, etc. Whereas in a compound located in an area where there is good hygiene, light and a clean borehole you'll save a lot and still maintain a your sound mind.

I hope this little piece of mine is helpful, but pls upgrade your hustle. 80k Salary/Month is slavery except you're gathering invaluable skills on the job that will helpful in future.

Depends on how good you know those areas. He's saying the truth. I'm sure even your estate valuer friend has a specific class of property he deals with. Doesn't mean rent below that doesn't exist.

My only advised is this

Any rent that your two months cannot pay is above your class.

No go form competition of class and land indebted with your landlord.

Ur rent should eqaual to ur one month salary

It's not reasonable. 80×3=240 meaning you will have to use more than three months to save and won't you eat? I repeat, not reasonable!
