esosa4real:
Greetings my people, Please I need some help and guidance for my juniour bro. He is also on the thread and doing his findings. I saw his post but i think he is not asking the right questions.

He is a first class Mech Engineering graduate and currently working with an International engineering firm in Lagos. PR is the ultimate goal because I am in Canada and we are working on that, however I want him to apply to a UNI for him as backup. (Wes done, IELTS on the way so it's a win/win situation).

1. Please what schools will readily give him admission into a master in Mech engineering or related courses like Automation etc. for 2022 Academic year.
2. Does anyone have an idea of schools that may offer scholarships, E.g partial (So we target such schools)?
3. He is writing General IELTS for PR waka, but does he need Academic IELTS for Canadian schools? I have been seeing posters mention it. I thought we had jumped this hurdle already as Nigerians. (There is this english result we usually send...but I am not so sureif it's all uni that accepts it.)
4. Do you advice he goes for Masters or a PG cert course. (because honestly, Master's don't sell here like before, except for some few careers, it's usually diploma and PGC that does employment wonders, but then again, I dread that route for visa conviction).
5. Just advise us biko, any tips will be appreciated.

I am a strong believer of Nairaland as I got my own Canadian PR and previous Visas to different countries on this resourceful website. So i know how powerful the interactions here can help shapen one's life If one is ready to READ. I have also been able to impact on others in other Canadian threads on this website. Please help point me in the right directions, so I do the necessary readings as regards possible schools.

Finally, since I am here in CA, if there is any way I can help with information, please let me know. (Information is power).
2) There are lots of Canadian Universities that offers Fully Funded thesis-based Graduate Opportunities. When he starts putting the guides in No. 1 to action, the response of those Profs. would make him know schools (research labs) that would give him admission or not. His 1st Class is a good plus to his Academic Profile, so he needs to do some intellectual packaging so he stand out to show to the prof. he's gonna be a perfect fit to the research lab if accepted.

See the link below for Schools offering Masters in Mechanical Engineering at CANADIAN UNIVERSITIES (over 35 Universities)
https://www.universitystudy.ca/search-programs/?k=Mechanical+Engineering&program_level_merged=Master%27s+degree&program_language=ENGLISH

3) Await a response to your 3rd Question from the gurus

4) Like I said initially, If he has obvious study gaps e.g if he graduated 2014-2016, he should go for a PG. Cert in a Mechanical Engineering program based on his work experience, cos that would be easy for him to explain on his SOP and be able to convince a Visa Officer why he is going for the program, but if he has no study gaps or obvious study gaps, a Masters degree is more advisability.

But in case he still wants to do that PG.cert, despite his First Class, he would have to give very strong & cogent reasons on his SOP why he is going for a PG.Cert instead of a Masters degree.

PG. Cert in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING related Programs
https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/483#95675552

PG. Cert, Industrial Automation
Niagara College, Ontario

PG. Cert in Quality engineering Management
Lambton College, Ontario

The above are just my own opinion, await suggestions from the gurus & other members of this platform.

Hi Honorable,

Take your time and go through the contents in the link below from the beginning to the end, and apply it your own Field of study/Research Interest. Once you are able to do your due diligence with the contents in the link below, you stand a chance of getting a Positive Response from a Potential Supervisor (Professor) in that department

Await a response from the gurus to your 2nd question

Goodluck!!!

What can make somebody fail medical? Can serious ulcer, BP or Asthma cause one to fail medicals? What are they looking for during medicals. Thanks
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 19 by Teenie19(f): 4:09pm On Aug 02, 2021
Hello,

IRCC never requested for another LOA which was quite surprising... I'm actually still waiting for a LOA. I had to apply for another semester because the school does not have deferral option. I believe they will issue me a study permit at the border and at that point, they will use my new letter of LOA.

dfutbolar:
Since you can't go for May semester again what did you do aside defer? Did you get a new LOA? Did you inform IRCC? Will your visa still be valid when you wanna go?

All these you mentioned cant make an applicant fail Medical test.. If you have high BP, they can re-schedule for you on another day when ur BP is normal.

IRCC Medical examination includes.

Physical examination like eye, heart, lungs, nose, and other organ check-ups.
Your Chest X-rays will be taken.
Blood tests for HIV and Syphilis.
Urine tests

An applicant can fail the Medical test when you don't meet up with the requirement of IRCC in the medical examination mentioned above..

Peace

Pls gurus in the house,

I am in the process of applying for my Student Visa. I got a PGD admission for supply chain management. I currently work with my brothers company as a sales person, hes also the one sponsoring me. Is it advisable I use my mum as a co sponsor ( I plan on doing that) or stick to using my brother alone, since the SOP will state that hes sponsoring me so I can come back to Nigeria to handle greater aspects of the company.

Please, what date did you request for the note and when it arrived what date did it show it was generated? Was it same date as when you signed and uploaded the consent form?

Thanks

26th June request date, 28th July arrival date, 19th July generated and consent was signed 28th June and uploaded same day.

Tnx a lot @shupy 4 ur response. I appreciate.
Pls, another question.
I don't want to use my uncle as the sponsor in my second app, although I used him in the first refused app.
Is that going to be a red flag?
Also, In the first app, I said that my uncle paid my tuition deposit of 8160 cad.
Now that I won't use him again, is it a red flag?
Should I now say that my mum has paid the same tuition that I said my uncle paid in the first refused app?

Changing sponsor is never a red flag.

Just mention that certain amount has been paid. No need to mention who paid it.

I think if you have a job you can submit a study leave and your employment letter.
You parents can do a power of attorney too for a land.

You can still wait for input from the most experienced persons here.
Concerning power of attorney I have one for a fenced property. But the property is not registered with ministry of lands. Will it be honoured, or the land must be registered before they can recognize it

Hi everyone, Please i need clarification on something. I applied with a gifted sum of money, i was gifted the sum of money for my study permit and its been in my account for a while now. since IRCC has refused to answer me for like 3 months now. Can i use part of the money cause this money has just been sitting in my account without any active use.

Kindly advice
They do not have access to your account unless in the unlikely event you're requested to provide an updated statement of account.

Your family and future career prospect are incentives to return to Nigeria. Just make it juicy juicy in your SOP. You must also provide a good reason for wanting to leave Turkey for Canada.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 19 by Kenthro: 5:09pm On Aug 02, 2021
MY ONLY REASON FOR WANTING TO LEAVE TURKEY TO CANADA IS TO OBTAIN PR BUT I DONT THINK I CAN MENTION THAT. IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEA ON WHAT I COULD SAY, IT WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED

funmihero:
Hi all,

It’s my first time dropping a message here. I just want to share our timeline to encourage someone as I have been encouraged.
Admission: My husband(40years) got a PhD position, Uni. of Manitoba.

Location: Sweden on post-study resident permit as at the time we submitted our application, with 2 kids.
Application submitted: June 13th
Biometrics: June 21st
Medicals: Not required
Visa Approved: July 26th, no update on our applications till approval date

Documents submitted:

HUBBY: Letter of Admission
LOE: 6pages, well organized in short topics, with emphases on academic history. We both started our education in Nigeria in a scarce profession (2002) at the diploma level. He finished his first degree at OAU, Ile-Ife, 2010 through DE, we both finished our masters, last year June in Sweden, fully sponsored. He leveraged the non-availability of the course in Nigeria and 95% of African countries (at graduate levels) as a strong link to Nija and Africa and prospect back home. We added links to the latest advert for our profession in academics that there are no qualified persons to fill up. And several other links to how we have been contributing to the development of our profession in Nigeria.

POF: Approximately 65k CAD, account in naira (salary and savings account) and Swedish kronor, CAC certificate of a newly established company (late last year, with no financial transaction), a letter of support from his cousin who committed to offering her basement for our accommodation and a spare car for transportation, no properties, or assets.
Certificates: All relevant certificates and the scholarship certificate from Sweden, IELTS, CV.
Family document form: All our siblings are still in Nigeria, both sides.
IELTS
MYSELF
LOE: Corroborated our academic history, attached pictures from 2002 and recent family pics. Stated we put our funds together for hubby’s academic pursuit (because I did not make any affidavit for the lump sum I deposited in his account, but I wrote a description in the transaction, stating for “Ph.D. project support”. I mentioned how we have supported each other’s dreams and our successes in completing our masters at the same time despite we have 2 young children. I mentioned that the kids have never lived apart from either of us and we are excited that Canada is very proactive in encouraging family unity. We sha promise to leave the country when hubby’s study is done, etc
Certificates: Hubby’s admission letter and all relevant certificates, IELTS, CV
Travel history: Studied in India and returned immediately after. Yes, we mentioned that we stayed back in Sweden because we decided to put our family’s health and safety first….corona virus restrictions, etc.

Children: 7 and 4 years, we submitted the basic documents required with no extra attachment.

Above all, God’s grace prevailed. We know we couldn’t prove how we will continue to sustain ourselves, but we submitted in faith.
I wish everyone the best in this new month.
