Despite the box office performance, The Suicide Squad is a very entertaining movie, Zack Snyder's Justice League was also really good.

A wholesome year.

I can't wait for DC fandome in October.

Na lie abeg. Na $450 million dem use take do film. If na $200mn them use as production, they'll need like 500mn for break even. Unless, he's adding added cost for prolonged marketing. Still $600mn should take care of break even.

My point exactly. For the fact that Bruce nor Alfred didn't say dick Grayson was dead on screen, it could be anyone. It could even be Damian Wayne if they wanted.

Zack has always insisted it was dick Grayson but since it wasn't mentioned on screen, it can be anybody now. In fact they can decide nobody in the bat family even died.

Superman and Lois should have ended at episode 12: conquering Morgan Edge would have been the perfect full stop to this season.

It's unfortunate they had to fall back on the cliched "destroy the world" storyline and squeeze three unneeded episodes further.

I honestly don't see this coming out of the CW effect, if anything, the quality of subsequent seasons will be worse.

It's a shame because they started well.

This CW network is all about quantity over quality.

The Suicide Squad (2021)

Suicide Squad (2016) is easily one of the worst super hero movie ever made. It was incompetent in a lot of fronts from characterization, cinematography, acting, sound design, story, directing, VFX and special effects etc.

So I was thoroughly surprised that I liked TSS. This movie is basically a soft reboot of the 2016 version. It’s a story that can serve as a continuation of the pervious Suicide Squad but it can also stand on its own due to the fact that some characters were recast, and that it isn’t a direct continuation of the 2016 version.

To just say that TSS is better than Suicide Squad is almost like an insult at this point. The story is superb and fitting for the ensemble. It totally makes sense that The Suicide Squad would exist to take on government interest and do the dirty work the government doesn’t want to be connected to. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that in a world ending catastrophe for the Suicide Squad to be the go-to people when the Justice League is just kicking around.

TSS is also really funny, thanks to the writers and director.

The characters were on point. I liked Idris Albas as Bloodsport, even though he was basically Will Smith’s character from the previous movie. John Cena was incredible as Peace Maker. Looks like all the acting in the WWE makes wrestlers good in acting. I heard that there’s a Peace Maker series coming up and I’m really looking forward to it. The other members of the teams were also great; even King Shark that looked incredibly goofy was fun and likeable.

IMO the least likeable member of the team is Harley Quinn. At this point, I’ve come to realize that I have a love-hate relationship with Harley Quinn. I really hated her character in the first movie. She was super annoying, cringy and had no business being in that movie. However, I liked her in Birds of Prey. Sadly, in this movie, I liked her the least. The weakest parts of TSS were when Harley Quinn was away from the team doing her own stuff.  But it’s all good, because, the writing is so good that it totally makes up for that shortcoming.

The movie also had scenes of gratuitous full frontal nudity and violence but I really didn’t mind. Though there is a point that I would like to make about this – maybe in later post.

Overall, this is one of the better DCEU movies and I hope we get more things like this. I wish I saw the movie in a cinema so as to contribute to its success. Even though it’s really convenient to watch a movie at home  as soon as it comes out, I really feel that this new trend of putting movies in cinemas and on streaming services will be detrimental to the profitability of the movie industry. Even oyibo people self dey stream and torrent movies illegally talkess of people wey dey this side.

The Suicide Squad 9/10
Gunn is the big gun! That guy literally killed the movie. Bloodsport Is my favorite character, Peacemaker is a funny and awkward person, Harley Quinn Is crazy as usual
The movie was totally great! Can't wait for a sequel!
