Scores of ISWAP and Boko Haram members have been killed during a deadly clash between the terrorist groups in Northern Abadam, Borno State. According to a news agency, PRNigeria, Boko Haram militants who had planned to surrender came under heavy attack by their angry ISWAP counterparts in the Gusuriya community, located in Dumbawa village. The Boko Haram members were on their way to surrender to the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) at a border with the Niger Republic last Sunday, August 22, 2021 when they were attacked. One of the intelligence sources, who is familiar with the development, disclosed that ISWAP leadership was rattled by Boko Haram fighters’ desertion and placed a death sentence on any fleeing member in the Lake Chad axis. “The deadly attack was coordinated by one Abba-Kaka, a self-acclaimed ISWAP Governor of Tumbumma, Commanding Marte, Abadam, Kukawa and Magumeri, leading to a heavy gun battle that lasted for hours which resulted in the killing of over 25 terrorists including three Commanders while many other militants, who ran in different directions with their families were left with bullets wounds,” the source said. Another source told PRNigeria that the continued internal rift and the hostility between the two terrorist groups were exacerbated by the execution of JAS (Boko Haram) fighters for committing a minor offence as well as refusal to appoint them into key positions. “Some high ranking Commanders bearing the titles of ‘Amir’ and ‘Khaid’ (Chiefs) at under the Shekau’s Caliphate in Sambisa were reduced to ordinary militants fighters after paying allegiance to the ISWAP leadership. “Some JAS Commanders and their loyalists were already contemplating pitching their tents against the ISWAP by joining forces with the Bakura and Krimima Led-JAS Factions that have been battling the ISWAP around the axes of Lelewa, Duwa, Wallal and Hauwa Bulumwa villages in the Niger Republic,” the source added. https://leadership.ng/27-terrorists-killed-as-iswap-boko-haram-clash/amp/? Let's keep pushing blames around and not address the root cause and I promise you decades from now we will still be dealing with insecurity. There is this article by Humangle stating that the bulk of the terrorist finances is from taxing locals in their area of control, kidnapping for ransom and controlling the smoked fish and pepper trade in that axis. It was at the infancy of the insurgency that they were relying on donations from individuals, at this point they make far more than any group of individuals can donate to them in a year in just weeks. No doubt they have sympathizers within and outside government but we need hard evidence not media trial. At this point, the conflict is too personal for many in the military to keep quiet if they knew those behind it. The current army chief has been attacked before by these terrorists. Many have lost friends and relatives to these violence. If indeed the military and government knew those sponsoring the terrorists and criminals, we would have been seeing a repeat of what happened to Badeh(not suggesting that he was killed by men in the military, just referring to the manner of the death). 4 Likes |

NDA ATTACK: CDS ORDERS PROBE INTO SECURITY BREACH AMIDST ‘SLEEPING ON DUTY’ ALLEGATIONS. The Chief of Defence Staff, Lucky E. O Irabor has ordered the constitution of a board of enquiry to ascertain the remote and immediate causes of the breach of security during bandit attack at the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA. On Tuesday gunmen had invaded the staff quarters of the NDA, killed two officers and abducted one other. The attack on the country’s elite military academy had attracted condemnations by many Nigerians. A few hours after the incident, The Cable, citing intelligence sources, alleged that personnel on duty at the NDA CCTV monitoring room were sleeping during the attack. Refuting this allegation, the Defence Headquarters, DHQ, in a statement by the director, Defence Information, Benjamin Sawyerr, said the report was untrue, challenging the newspaper “to publish forthwith a verifiable proof of personnel sleeping during the incident”. He said: “It is therefore imperative to caution the Cable Online media to guide against being used as a propaganda tool by enemies of our dear country. “The Cable Online should not consciously or unconsciously collaborate with these unscrupulous elements to spread unverified stories on the unfortunate event that occurred at NDA Kaduna while tarnishing the good image and reputation of personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) in the eyes of the civil populace. “It is perhaps important to mention that the AFN as a professional force consist of highly trained personnel who are dedicated to their duties of protecting lives and property of all Nigerians.” The CDS vowed to sanction any personnel found culpable, adding that the outcome of the investigation would help prevent future occurrence. The statement said: “Let me use this opportunity, to reiterate that the NDA authorities, acting on the directive of the Chief of Defence Staff has constituted a board of enquiry to ascertain the remote and immediate cause(s) of the breach of security with a view to sanction any personnel found culpable and also prevent future occurrence.” The statement noted that the troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria would continue with its operations to ensure all those involved in the dastardly act are brought to justice. 1 Like 1 Share

DubaiLandLord:Sorry for derailing, https://www.rt.com/russia/533123-man-sue-tv-negative-news/ Doom and gloom every time you turn on the TV has apparently hit one man from St. Petersburg more than most, with the unhappy viewer now taking broadcasting execs to court for supposedly leaving him shaken by their grim coverage...... While it might seem like a remote issue, academic analyses have found that news coverage of current affairs across the world tends to be predominantly negative. Another recent study found that during the Covid-19 pandemic, reporters and broadcasters in the US painted an overwhelmingly dire picture of the situation, while departing from the more balanced realities in scientific journals or from international media |

NIGERIAN MARITIME ADMINISTRATION AND SAFETY AGENCY (NIMASA) PRESS RELEASE Governor Ganduje Commend NIMASA’s CSR Project · As Agency Donates Relief Materials to Kano IDPs Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has said relief materials donated to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) are a strategic intervention that would help the people get back to normal life. Ganduje said NIMASA’s action was also symbolic, as it would not only give the people a sense of belonging, but also motivate other organisations and individuals to come to the aid of the displaced persons. The governor spoke in Kano, the state capital, when he personally received relief items and other empowerment materials provided by NIMASA for the IDPs. He said the gesture was illustrative of the commitment of the Dr. Bashir Jamoh-led Management of the Agency to alleviating the suffering of Nigerians displaced by insurgency and other man-made disasters. “These are complete state-up materials and tools for people to start earning a living,” Ganduje stated, adding, “In fact, you have brought life to the people.” Delivering the items, the Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, said the provision was in support of the Federal Government’s effort to tackle humanitarian crises created by insecurity and natural disaster. Jamoh said it was also meant to identify with the less privileged in society in line with the Agency’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy. “These people have suffered a huge economic and psychological dislocation, but we are determined to help them pick up the pieces and get back on their feet,” the Director General stated. He added, “As an Agency, this is our own way of contributing to the Federal Government’s humanitarian relief initiative for persons suffering sundry displacements for reasons beyond their control.” The Director General, who was represented by his Special Assistant on Technical Matters, Barrister Suleiman Abdulsalami, said the donations were part of the Agency’s CSR programme built around Youth Empowerment, Safety, Environmental Protection, and Educational Support. He called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items and prayed for an end to the security issues affecting the country. Items handed over to the Kano State Governor included tricycles, motorcycles, water pumping machines, sewing machines, beddings, toiletries, and foodstuffs. Meanwhile, when oil was selling for above $100 per barrel and Nigeria was producing over 2 million bpd and government "had interest and will" to end the insurgency..... Some of my colleagues will rather believe the weapons are being purchased to be used against the south by the north rather than for the security of lives and properties in the country. One was querying the need to get new ships when there is no "water" in the northeast. Just imagine where the military will be by now if they had been getting this kind of support since the beginning of the insurgency? 4 Likes
