as if that's not enough, I caught my bricklayer with a vehicle to the site loading over 4 bags of cement into the little van they brought, I wish I could record the shock all over his face and the way he was stammering .. And decent guy who I thought was reasonable enough to handle things for me, I sacked the motherfucker, the new one I employed is even worse, he thinks I'm a small buy kus I'm 22 and maybe he's feeling Intimidated by the portfolio of work I'm handling....
so many instances I can't even mention, after showing them love and care, allowing them to eat even when you are paying them well, they'll go at any length to rip you off...
please always open your eyes ooo, most of these worker's but not all are fond of acting crazy and take people they work for granted on site, they feel they are always smarter than. everyone else in the room and know how to cheat their way around you.... we have to do better and more as human, greed is unnecessary a d won't define breakthrough .moment for anybody...

Its better to have a site assistant lets say a friend you trust to oversee the site activities such as buying and storing of construction materials as well as handling them when needed and checking to see that the materials were used appropriately. The person should have a knowledge of construction matters.
On your part, you should know how many quantity of materials needed for a certain stage. 1 Like |

You probably have to change your leadership style. Your current management style is lassez faire and your workers have abused it. You probably have to be authoritarian going forward. You are not doing that project to make friends or seek validation from your workers. Its a business you are doing. Run it as a business!!! Going forward, Run a transactional leadership model where you mete out punishment to staff who steal(u can have a standby police officer on call), fire those whose who are lazy and reward publicly those who meet and surpass their target . However i must add that the economy is hard and u may need to try and improve their wages a little so they wont use that as an excuse to steal. if u still feel u dont want to go tough on the elderly, u can hire a middle man/project officer who interfaces between you and your staff . Give him his target, daily kpi, do let him know that any material that cant be accounted for will be on his head etc etc Senoiret:

The problem with nigerians is we always want people who r experienced to do some certain jobs, and we want to cut corners and disregard some duties thinking we can maneuver. Employ a site foreman, either ur friend or younger bro. He should be the one buying some things and also keeping tabs of what is going on in the site. He will take stock of materials used daily. U might think its unnecessary but at the end u will save so much money from this. |

A friend of mine had this same issue until he started using those Togo labourers, not only were they trustworthy but the always put in their best. Latter Nigerians will be complaining of no work whereas they are the cause of their problems. 4 Likes 1 Share |

This is the main reason I closed my sites too. I have seen so much that I do not know what to say again. It is the main reason I have decided to relocate. And the solution for me is Artificial Intelligence. And I am one of the happiest person looking forward to Tesla Bot (Humanoid) and let's see how it can be applicable. Honestly speaking, I will go to the end of the world to reprogram these human robots to replace workforce in my area of specialization. All normal tough work and unskilled labor will be handled by robots instead of employing Nigerians. |

At your age as reported by you, they believe you didn't make the cash in a genuine way, hence the efforts at collecting their own share of the aza.
Secondly, always entrust your project into the hards of a professional and allow him coordinate and pay workers, by so doing you will reduce stress and waste...... |
