As I was bringing it in, I didn’t know the car was overheating and it burnt my gasket. I fixed it in agony.
Now just today, after parking it for 9 days I called the mechanic who told me I had to change the 4 coils, plugs and do a fresh servicing. I did all this and even bought two new gallons of coolant. Dear people, do you know that after an hour of all this, I tried to test drive , just along the way I noticed the car was over heating then I Tried to look for a little safe place And park. I opened my engine bay and noticed that gasket is burnt again! All my money down the drain! The stress, the agony, the everything. I’m so so sad! Trying really to be strong. Please people, what can I do? Now the car won’t start and I had to pay a towing van to tow it. Sorry about my grammar. My heart is just too heavy. Thanks. Any opinion is welcome.

First thing, most (if not all) of these Tok cars comes with a single cell radiators, I'll recommend you get a double cell.
Secondly, also have your radiator cooling fan checked.
And finally, do not listen to anyone saying you should remove the thermostat, don't make the mistake of removing it cause thermostat is vital component of a complete cooling system.

Pls don't make your fan permanent as adviced above. It could cause other problems.
If you are around akowonjo/Egbeda axis, I could give you a good Japanese car mechanic that will fix your car at minimal reasonable cost. Ie your burnt gasket.
As per overheating, if it concerns your radiator, forget it. Simple matter. "Murphy Agbede" will take out that radiator, open the cells and clean it up. That car will work like new.
My sis pajero after all the rubbish by lekki mechanics and overheating still continued, I told her to send the car over. Sharp sharp overheating from radiator was fixed. 2 years later, still no issues.

JHad same issues, washed radiator, pit coolant, removed thermostat etc

I had to remove the radiator and clean it cell by cell, the dirt that came out was as thick as cement mixed with water.

Just wash your radiator, cells cud be blocked or just change the radiator completely.

You fixed overheating without tracing or addressing what caused the overheating in the first place.
I think your radiator is bad, or the fans are not working , or the water pump is bad.
If its the radiator, change the radiator, maybe the cells are blocked or its expired.
For the radiator fan, tell the electrician you want the fans to be working as soon as you turn the ignition on.
For the water pump, ita unlikely that's the cause.but they should check it

The way I work on my car is this, I invite a car scanner to scan my ride anytime I notice anything abnormal. Immediately the problem codes are pulled out, I collect all the codes, make research and watch YouTube videos on how to fix the problems.

Then I will invite a mechanic and direct him on what I want him to do. I'm always willing to pay the mechanics well but must follow my instructions while working because I have done my research very well.

I drive around with less stress and I scan my car like 2 times in a month. I tried getting a scanner to be scanning it myself but Jumia delivered rubbish scanner that takes forever to connect to my car. I will make out chance visit the market and get a good scanner for myself to reduce cost of inviting the car scanner.

Always know the cause of the problem before working on your car. Don't allow mechanics to suggest or guess.

Finally, collect and keep safe every part a mechanic removed from your car. Make sure you collect the coils he replaced and keep it safe.

My first car had similar problem. The useless mechanic I used then, the morrafucker name is Ojo, he stays at Odeda Mechanic Garage, very useless crook. The werey told me gasket cost 15k then, and then it costs just 1200! I was changing gaskets every 3 days, until 1 day, I luckily met another mechanic who changed the gasket for 1200, and collected 3k to remove something inside the engine. I still used the vehicle till today!
Your mechanic is still an apprentice. you can sell the car to me for shikini money sha, i will fix and sell it twice the money in a week

1. Check your radiator. If it is a single cell type, change to a double cell type.
2. Check the water pump. If it is bad, change it.
3. Change the gasket as the one you have is bad.
4. All the coils should be checked. Bad ones replaced.
5. Scan the car for throttling problems.
6. The AC, belts, and other seals may be affected by the overheating.

It should be fine after these things

The only thing I did extra was that I spoke to one of those electrical guys (rewire guys) and he showed me the type of scanners I should buy. Don't buy those cheap ELM327 scanners as they are worthless. Try and buy genuine OBD2 scanners. Genuine OBD2 scanners are not cheap but will scan your car thoroughly for you.

I ordered mine on AliExpress and I am expecting it to be delivered today or tomorrow

Lol, you can’t tell me about cars. Overheating is not a death sentence it happens everywhere. Something failed and instead of fixing it you are advising OP to bypass. Which will damage the engine long term

Overheating

Most of all these failures are caused on Nigerian soil due to negligence and poor handling of the repair job.

Most repair jobs are done using used radiator units which could be blocked or leaking.

Some times wrong radiators are used to save cost or patched

Most cooling systems are not pressure tested after the repair job and could have small leaks which lead to overheating after purchase.

Air-conditioning failure .

Newer vehicles 2006-date. Use very sensitive AC systems which will not tolerate abuse. The use of substandard refrigerant and refilling systems without checking the level of compressor oil left , and finally refilling systems without pulling a vacuum will certainly lead to compressor damage in a very short period.


Transmission Failure

Contamination of the transmission is very common during radiator swaps , especially when the heat transfer line is not flushed , contamination gets into the transmission causing failure.


What to do.

In your current case remote diagnosis will not cut it.

A careful examination of the cooling system , replacement of sensitive systems like the radiator , water pump and pipes that might be failing is important , also checking that the cooling fans are running optimal is imprortant. Finally resurfacing the head cylinder and changing valve stem seals will go a long way to ensure engine life (if it still exists )

Overall find a good workshop to review the work done and fix.

Hello Mskrisx, this oga up here is your right plug to fix your car.....Anyone who is asking you to remove thermostat, change to double cell radiator etc; is not different from the kazeem you have used in the past! While i understand that alot of car owners have used this fix in the past, it is not the right fix...You don't fix a problem by suppressing it...

I love toyota. i tried to use nissan for 3years but no weekend will pass without me spending 7to10k. but now i sold it and move to toyota i hv never witnessed any spending unkess to buy fuel and change oil for past 2years

Get a good mechanic (not that you can trust them 100%)
Explain all what happened, trace the over heating problem starting with your radiator....
You only learn the hard way,if you had known earlier about the warning signs on your dash board you wouldn't have been in this mess...
