This your advice is all shade of wrong. People go for 1 year course, and extend their SP in the course of the one year. Also I read where you said 1 year hardly get approval? Like seriously? I do hope that people are wary of these sort of advise though....

If you've had read all those post made there, you would have seen where I made public apology for the statement bcus I later discovered that I was wrong and I admitted it.
As for the 1yr hardly getting approval, I'm saying it base on what I've seen severally in the past and it's my opinion and your entitle to yours too so leave it that way

Pls, a friend of mine, an optometrist, is on 4.08 cgpa, and he has finished school. He wants to do his masters in Optometry.

Once the initial 1yr visa given to you expires and your done with your year study, your expected to exit the country and if you want to get additional 1yr program, you must exit the country and reapply again from outside

No sir. A study permit extension can be granted within Canada so the student do not have to step out to apply as long as the student maintain a legal status at the time of application.

Please loud this...I wonder who started this whole wrong info self. Many of the Pgc programs are even for 1 year and people have been going for them and getting their visas approved.

Doree:
For those with doubts, I got PPR for a one year program, same with so many others on this thread. Just put in a tight application and pray to God for the best. My application was not even perfect like so many others.
No need for fear mongering.

Plss your quoting me wrong, I never said 1yr program can not get one's visa approved but rather it's usually difficult to obtain visa using it, that's why I don't advice ppl to go through it

No sir. It's not difficult. If you can prove it and let it make sense which is same for a two year program. You will get it. The approval rate has nothing to do with the length of program. I have seen a lot of people from part 18 to 20 get approved with one year program.

Got refused a few minutes ago, based on personal asset and financial status. I am not even mad or sad all I feel is peace. (Applied April 25th)

I have started to put plans in place to reapply. I ordered GCMS notes on the 4th of this month.

I initially applied with a year postgraduate course -Human Resources Management at NSCC, paid term tuition (I withdrew and requested for a refund Friday, last week) The course was fully online. This contributes to the way I took the refusal because I wasn't sure of it.

I have been looking for other schools before today and Camosun College, British Columbia, looks promising. It's 2 years and in-class delivery method.

I am open to other schools that offer postgraduate diplomas in Human Resources Management, 2 years.
Thank you.

Thank God you are at peace regardless. We applied same day, I got my refusal for same reason 3rd of June. I know the feeling but trust me, it gets better from here. Get your note, address the concerns, change school if you have to and re-fire. You will get it!

And you have not also seen several others get approved? I have seen people with full funding get refused, going for 2 years MSC, and so on do get refused for all sorts of reasons but the fact that an application is a one year program does not in any way limit the chances of approval of that application. There are pros and cons of one year program in itself and those are considered when you are talking about the end point of this quest via study route. If you come from that angle, I may agree with you but for approval or refusal on basis of your course being 1 year? No , I do no agree please, so do not scare people with your thoughts. We will only do our bits and leave the rest to God for favour on our application. It shall end in praise always..

Good evening friends.
I'll like to share my testimony to encourage someone here. Should have done this yesterday but was pretty busy with work.

First time applicant
Submitted 12th May
Biometrics request 13th (checked for available slots but 24th May was the closest free date)
Upfront Medicals 21st
Biometrics 24th (uploaded on profile same day)
Medicals updated to passed 1st June.

Then......this wait began
Sent web forms in June to update my new passport and IELTS even though I didn't get NSE request

No update, nothing

Eligibility didn't start

Ordered GCMS notes in July. Notes came in exactly the 30th day but was pretty scanty. Only info sharing was complete. Eligibility was blank but was shocked me was that the notes mentioned that they requested for IELTS (a request that never got to me but thank goodness I already sent ahead)

***Please order for your notes if your processing Timelines have been exceeded****

In August, I sent mails to London, Accra, Nairobi even Canada to request for updates since my resumption date was fast approaching. I got generic responses for all.

I also sent to the MP of my province. She tried but got same generic response.

My school admin gave a deadline of 8th to defer.
I was about to write a deferral letter yesteday when I just decided to check my profile and saw Eligibility Started.

Few hours later, BVL dropped. 50minutes later, I got a PPR.

For everyone still waiting, Please don't give up, pray and have faith.
For those delayed, revive your spirit and fire back!

BTW, I'll be going to UNB.... Anyone heading to Fredericton this month end?

#May14thApplicant
#FullyFunded
No NSE request but I included IELTS General result and MBS.

I'll be back with the full gist. For now...I'm over the moon. What a feeling!!!

So here's the details:

Admission: April 26th
Application submitted: May 14th
Biometrics request: May 15th
Upfront medicals: June 3rd
Biometrics done: June 4th
Medicals passed: June 11th
BVL: September 9th
PPR: September 9th

Documents submitted (in no particular order):

1) The 3 IRCC application forms for TRV, Study permit outside Canada and Family Information.
2) Degree Certificate and Unofficial Transcript
3) Advanced Diploma Certificate and transcript
4) SOP of 2 pages
5) Marriage Certificate
6) My birth certificate and Child's birth certificate showing names of mother and father from NPC.
7) Pictures showing registry wedding, family picture during child's dedication and pictures taken on my child's birthday to "emotionally" demonstrate happy moments for home ties.
8 ) 3 different land documents (deed of assignment) all in my name with only one having survey plan. This is to address economic ties and assets.
9) Current job offer letter, 3 months pay slips, salary increment letter, work ID card, introduction letter from my employer and study leave letter stating I'm eligible to apply for study leave upon getting my study permit approved.
10) Screenshot evidence of applying for CAQ. The CAQ Approval Letter came later and I sent via webform and emails.
11) My passport data page (Virgin passport...lol)
12) Admission letter (LOA) with full funding that covers cost of entire study.
13) 2 MBS from Stanbic IBTC Bank. One for salary account and savings account with very good cash inflows and outflows.
14) IELTS General TRF to expire in November
15) Police Character certificate
16) Resumé which should address study gaps.

The story:
I started this Canada waka since 2017 targeting PR in Express Entry Category. In the quest to get the target score to max language points for EE, I wrote IELTS 3 times. I missed a particular EE bi-weekly draws by 3 points...very painful I must say. My profile in the EE pool eventually expired and I wrote the 4th IELTS which luckily I now used to satisfy NSE requirements (although that NSE thing na scam).

I applied to 3 different schools, U of Ottawa, Simon Fraser and Concordia. Ottawa admitted me without funding but Concordia came late to the rescue with funding.

I was not sure if the deed of assignment documents for the lands in my name made any difference but I added them because of what I read from others here. I believe this, the family pictures with wife and child staying back in Nigeria, proof of employment and letters from employer emphasized strong home and economic ties.

At some point, I read about a denial for a fully funded applicant and my heart sank for a moment. I did not submit any extra funding letters from my supervisors. I assumed all the details they need are there on the admission letter. However, I carefully mentioned the funding part in my SOP and included email address of my supervisor (hoping any clarification they might need about the funding should be directed to him...I dont need any additional documents request abeg...lol). My admission letter was a conditional offer (the condition was the official transcript I am yet to send) and it gave me concerns when people here were emphasizing unconditional offer letters.

I almost lost my mind frequently checking for updates on my application. I was even begging God for a ghost update to be sure my application has not been abandoned and gathering "online dust" already. I never saw any. My eligibility and background check started 2 days after biometrics was done. After medicals was updated to passed on June 11th, all I got was a long silence until today that the eagle landed. BVL and PPR mails dropped 3 minutes apart around 6.23am. Currently, I have deferred my admission to Winter 2022 starting in January but yet to get a new/revised LOA.

In summary, everything was a miracle from God. Irrespective of my sinful nature, the Almighty God decided to show me mercy and grace prevailed. I really can't capture all the details but these are the highlights.

Finally, God answered my calls and granted me amnesty!!! All Glory and honour be to Him alone. Thank you to all the people contributing positively on this thread. This Nairaland is a goldmine. Special thanks to the brain behind this forum @seun and all the moderators.

To all of you expecting the miracle, receive it in Jesus' name. Amen.

Greetings everyone one
I need advise.
I submitted my visa application August 27th, I did biometrics in 2019 so it’s still valid. I already booked for upfront medical for September. Is it still ok to do the upfront medical as I have already submitted the application or should I cancel the medical appointment and wait for the IRCC medical instructions before going for the medical?

I applied to 3 different schools, U of Ottawa, Simon Fraser and Concordia. Ottawa admitted me without funding but Concordia came late to the rescue with better funding. My first degree was in Mathematics (CGPA 4.36/5.00) and it aligned with my proposed study in Actuarial Mathematics. Did I mention that I graduated in 2010? What a huge study gap! I was so worried about this but the advanced diploma I did in 2019 belled the cat. I graciously stated that in my SOP that the diploma is recent and although I have been away from classroom for long, I came out with distinction in the diploma (CGPA 4.09/5.00).

I was not sure if the deed of assignment documents for the lands in my name made any difference but I added them because of what I read from others here. So my timeline as promised.

First time applicant with zero travel history

Submitted 15th May with NSE requirements
Biometrics request 16th
Biometrics 28th (this was the closest available date, uploaded on profile same day)
Upfront medicals June 6th
Medicals updated to passed 11th June.

Requested for CBSA notes in July which came in August with blank eligibility

BVL and PPR request came 7 minutes apart 9th September .

My application was honestly by God's grace

Used my brother and his wife as my sponsors. My bro sent me one year tuition to my account which I paid through flywire using form A, his wife sent me 2.5M which was to serve as part of my living expenses, in all I had 3 million left in my account after paying my tuition. The form A was actually processed after I had submitted so I raised a webform to submit the tuition receipt.

For home ties I hinged it mainly on my family, my Dad, mum and siblings also spiced it with the CofO of my fathers property without any valuation.

My last paid formal employment was with Npower, for current employment I stated that I was into e-hailing (uber and bolt) and also into gadget sales there were no documents to back this up, however I included particulars of my cars (added under home ties).

That's pretty much what I submitted apart from my Sister-in Law's work particulars and bank statement, alongside my brother's CAC for his two companies (one of which was inactive).

attaching a copy of my table of content so you get an idea of what I submitted.

The knowledge on this forum is absolutely priceless, immensely and eternally grateful to all those that contribute to make this community what it is.

Can someone please answer this question??
Jeffi7:

Pls I want to know what next to do, I just deffered my wife's admission as the school refused to give an extension or do the fall semester online, neither do they have winter intake. So I have deferred to fall 2022 as IRCC is yet to respond on student permit application.

Do I need to inform IRCC on my deferment of admission till Sept 2022? Or when PPR comes would it be valid till August 2022 for travel ?

Honestlyi don’t know why people like you just like putting fear into peoples minds. What do you gain from it? There is absolutely no impact choosing a 1 year course has on your chances is getting approval. Mind you, I also got approval with a 1 year. Leave your strange opinion in your mind.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by annylove1: 1:40am On Sep 10, 2021
Good day everyone, I am new here although I have read a couple of pages already.
I would like to ask for advise from the gurus especially from Frankrobbin and Lekiboboe as I have been coming across both names.
I would like to pick a course that befits my profile and then apply for the visa.
I have a Bsc in environmental science (2.2) and Masters in environmental management(4.4gp), my masters degree is professional hence it is not accepted for Phd studies. I also have basic HSE 1-3 certifications
I have 5 years work experience in sales, customer service, marketing, management and very little experience in HSE
I run a fashion business currently and I have been on it for 6 years and counting after leaving the 9-5 job
I would either want to go for masters in environmental science, occupational safety as this is my educational background or a business degree because my experiences so far has been in business. I would like to know if I can secure admission for masters being that my first degree is 2.2 or if I should settle for a postgraduate course instead?
I have good travel history if that counts for anything
I would also like to know if my Dad can be a co-sponsor
I am 31 and single.

Please someone should reply as this the 3rd time I am posting. Thank you

Awaiting responses from the gurus in the house. Thanks
