Someone in your condition cannot quit cold turkey. Perhaps that’s the mistake you are making. Most health experts would even tell you it’s dangerous for a chronic alcoholic to quite at once. The withdrawal symptoms alone can kill you. Start by reducing how much you drink daily at least by half. Just drink enough to still give you that “buzz” that your body needs to function as it has become used to, but not enough that you get drunk and pass out. From there reduce it gradually over several months to give your body time to adjust to the change. You can fill the free time you now have on your hands with other healthy activities like exercise, jugging, reading, watching movies or documentaries, sleeping or actually working! Before you know it, you will be amazed by how much your body will no longer crave for alcohol. Trust me I used to be like you. When I was going through a difficult phase in my life I used to drink first thing in the morning to give me the motivation to even get out of bed. During the day I sneak from work to take a few sachet drinks and cigarettes from vendor near my office and then at night I completely destroy myself with multiple bottles of beer, some more sachet drinks and countless cigarettes to help me forget the stress and sleep properly. Things improved for me when I took this advice I’m now giving you from a friend and now I’m sober. I still drink but I’m no longer dependent on it to function or make it through the day like before. I just have the odd beer or two every now and then now, mostly at night no more morning or midday drinking. Good luck mate. |

Jerryherd:Not always. You can trade alcoholism/cigarette addiction for healthy habits like exercise/gym, new skills, hobbies, etc. All capable of being good sources of dopamine release. |

Nwchkwgz:Atleast I would know that I did my best to avoid such a condition.. And by the way.. Most lung cancer patients.. The most common cause of cancer deaths.. Are smokers or former smokers.. So,there you are.. |

jansonn: Don't mind the ignoramus fellow. He who the gods will kill they first make mad. So I had a collegaue sometimes ago who will tell you he's been smoking since about 30 years or so, some with this same kind of mentality will conclude with a wave of the hand that everything is well, since they're yet to encounter any serious health issue as a result of involving in such bad habit. Unfortunately this guy died almost in the office, I mean he was dying just about the time he resumed for work on the morning of that faithful day, he was stabilized and later taken to the hospital where he eventually passed on. But prior to that day with kin sense of Observation you can see a walking corpse because of his swollen cheeks which is not the effect of excessive good living but a massive damage to the vital internal organ of the body. Whoever wants to continue drinking and smoking should continue, since so many assumed they know more than the experts or professionals shaddled with the responsibility of adequately informing the public on the danger inherent in the consumption of those illicit substances. 1 Like |

Re: Help! Addiction Has Taken Everything... by FlipModeSquade(m): 3:20pm On Sep 13, 2021 |
Nwchkwgz:I never said you smoke.. The causes they give are speculative? You mean.. The anecdotal evidence, that most lung cancer patients are smokers,is just coincidence? The huge mountain of evidence that shows that Whites are more prone to skin cancer, due to UV exposure, than Blacks.. Are mere conjecture? They don't know what they are talking about? |

AlmonDeLemon:Bro if your intention to quit is health motivated only, it may be very difficult for you to quit this addiction. See it as a sin, genuinely ask God for help. Do a 3 day fasting and prayer with the intention of quiting, you will be amazed how God will take away your addiction. I was a serial smoker, it was so bad that even if i during water i will smoke white London. I took the decision to stop smoking, i did a 1 week fasting and prayer and God answered. I haven't smoked any type of cigarette since i quit in 2003. No addiction is easy to stop, na why we need to run to God. Good luck bro |

Quitting addition is mostly not an individual effort. Groups and communities help, but sadly that's not common in this country. Hope you find help anyways |
