The federal government is the prime driver of economic growth. The states ride on the policies on ground and foundation laid by the federal government.

When Peter Obi was in power, he worked very hard to attract foreign investments which would have created lots of direct jobs, not to talk of the multiplier effects on the wider economy.

He also greatly improved the quality of education which would avail better-paying jobs and opportunities for the poor, not only in the short run, but mostly in the long term.

He might have done more to fight poverty but I'm not from the state so my knowledge is limited.
