I prayed, (small prayer not even those serious prayers), I avoided my friends for awhile, I constantly read about the bad effects of smoking psychologically scaring myself out of the addictions, I stayed home till I was strong enough to resist it. Please avoid places where they drink and smoke too...

Only God can help you. Cultivate an habit of praying and praying rigorously. Only the spirit of God can suppress or completely eject that spirit of alcoholism in you. I used to be an addict of something else. And that's how I managed to overcome it after trying a lot of things and failing miserably. In brevity, just give your life to Christ and start a new life. The Lord be with you.

Alcohol can cause hepatocellular cancer, smoking is a carcinogen for virtually all forms of cancers. Infact, in medical school, when asked aetiology of any cancer and terminal illness and you don't know the cause, just say alcohol and smoking. As for the op, see a doctor, a consultant preferably, there are some drugs that could help with the cravings.

don't mind the liar. Let him monitor his brother well and see how he goes for a routine check at the hospital. He can't be smoking 5 packs everyday non stop for 26yrs without going down. We know all this things well. The man may be naturally strong but he has his own cross he's carrying

In my past life as an Ex-HealthCare Consultant, I would have rushed to proffer possible solutions to this Posters Predicament but I have been hurt by people that I have helped in the past and so I don't do that anymore.

Imagine helping a Sickle Cell Child of 2 yrs suffering chronic Crises daily who was just eating only white soup and Amala all her life since she was born.

This was until they found me, I helped them and now she is eating all kinds of food now and has become so Fat. Now living healthy and strong everday but the family hurt me badly.

His brother is not among any selected few cos there is nothing like that. When the time comes and his body starts reacting, everything will happen at once.

There is one i know. After many years, he had abscess in his liver. He immediately stopped drinking and smoking. Now he is seriously looking for life. He has sworn never to drink or smoke again. The problem now is, they have to operate and drain him almost every month cos he is not healing.

a problem is half solved if the person who has it lets it out. Now, my method is spiritual because nothing in live is physical alone. Simplest way to quit absolutely is to genuinely invite the Holy Spirit into your live who is the Spirit of Jesus our Saviour. If you go on your knees soberly and invite this person anywhere you are, you will see what will happen in a moment. Do this and get back to me for the next step.

You can take on any sporting activity you seem fine with- try to do it almost everytime u wanna get high.
If you dont know how to swim for instance, start swimming- go to a nearby pool, make friends and while away time.
It could also be football- just be more intentional about watching, playing and discussing it.

I used to drink and smoke like mahd, i look very healthy and plumpy , i thought i was okay untill i fainted in my house for no reason at all, all thanks to God and my then girlfriend now my wife who just visited me on that day and saw me lying down on the floor, at first she thought i was just sleeping and wonder why am not lying on the bed or on the AC if am feeling hot instead on of lying on the tiles, she went to the kitchen and prepared rice and peppersoup , she was calling me to come and eat and i was not responding thats when she noticed am not even moving, she screamed and call my neighbors who took me to the hospital, lucky enough i regained consciousness after 5 days in the hospital, to cut story short my lab results and some scans showed that alcohol and cigarettes has damaged me. Brothers and sisters , since February till now i quit drinking and smoking because any more of it will send me six feet underground. Moral of my story .. Please stop alcohol and smoking if you want to live long and healthy.
