The way Nigerians flood Facebook posts on prosperity these days shocks me.
"Amen", "I claim it", comments left right and centre

And they'll chew up anyone that makes the mistake of telling them to stop dreaming and get to work

And the Pastors, General Overseers, Bishops, Apostles are taking advantage of the economy suitations, to milk them of their hard earn monies, example miracle money, new building project, tithes, first sunday thanks giving and many more......

True to some extent

To me both poverty and wealth can make one religious

Poor man: in a bid to escape poverty or at least be sure of heavenly reward.

Rich man: in a bid to be secured from village pipu and stay rich.

Regardless find your God while yu can

Yes I agree with you but u are haughty and that will be your fall if you don't change..people go to school to acquire knowledge of this life ..u see some reading books up to phd level just to gain higher level of knowledge of the world ,now children of God keep going to church to continue to learn of God and eternity cos eventually that is the supreme reality of our existence and reality ,blessed is he who thirst of righteousness for they shall be filled..the hunger for God is the only reason the saints of God goes to church ,nothing else because God gives the earth to human beings both good and bad benefits from the world but eternity with God is reserved for only people that loved God and worshipped him in truth and in spirit

You're right don't mind Reno,I even thought he's a pastor,so poverty is the only reasons why people go to church according to him?
What about those whose love for God is beyond money, fame etc yet they're well to do?

Inasmuch some people go to church because of life situations, there are people who are well to do yet been churchy,he should always try and balance his claim.

That's not entirely true. I don't go to church cause of poverty, I do cause I had a vacuum inside of me that only God can fill. There is nothing in the world, only the lust of the flesh and the pride of life is in the world. Life starts and end with Jesus Christ.

Another person to research...cause I've seen his name here several times but bypassed articles on him.
He may be totally correct about the Nigerian "village religous ancestral/superstition curse" thing. In fact, after having read so much on religous superstition here on N.L., I'd agree with him on that aspect.
The majority of people in Nigeria are desperate, hopeless and are looking for hope....or at least hope in the promise that their lives will change....situation will improve..and the only place they find it is in church. Some wolves (in sheep's clothing) take huge advantage of people's desperations....
Instead of looking to Jesus, they look to "man" and his failed promises.
That is a huge problem for sure.

But Mr. Omokri is totally wrong about Jesus promulgating "wealth". In fact, Jesus stated that the "poor woild always be on earth"...
Mark 14:7(KJV)
7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always
Everyone is not destined to be wealthy (as most define wealth)....neither does that make him/her a failure either. Nor will wealth come to everone who leaves Nigeria to go abroad.

America (which "had" been founded as a Christian nation) has a substantial amount of wealthy citizens (outside of the celebrity entertainment world).
Many of the wealthy citizens regularly attend church; so that is totally incorrect to say that people lose their "religion" once they move abroad.
There are many people who grow up in the Lord, become wealthy and still honor God as their supreme maker until death.
However, the temptation to "forget" one's faith is 1000 times greater, for those living in a country where religion is encouraged, but not forced or enforced. There are no outward "punishments" if one chooses to forsake their religion--ex. Christianity.

However, there is something only Christ can give--that no amount of wealth in this world could ever do....

If this guy Mr. Omokri is against Christianity, I'd rather he said that emphatically, than to misinterpret and twist the Word, juxtapose situations etc., to promote an agenda. Cause that is what it seems.
Will definitely research him.
These guys--him and Mr. Daddy-- seem quite unusual....in their beliefs.

U.S. Public Becoming Less Religious
Modest Drop in Overall Rates of Belief and Practice, but Religiously Affiliated Americans Are as Observant as Before

Is the American public becoming less religious? Yes, at least by some key measures of what it means to be a religious person. An extensive new survey of more than 35,000 U.S. adults finds that the percentages who say they believe in God, pray daily and regularly go to church or other religious services all have declined modestly in recent years.
The recent decrease in religious beliefs and behaviors is largely attributable to the “nones” – the growing minority of Americans, particularly in the Millennial generation, who say they do not belong to any organized faith. Among the roughly three-quarters of U.S. adults who do claim a religion, there has been no discernible drop in most measures of religious commitment. Indeed, by some conventional measures, religiously affiliated Americans are, on average, even more devout than they were a few years ago.

The share of U.S. adults who say they believe in God, while still remarkably high by comparison with other advanced industrial countries, has declined modestly, from approximately 92% to 89%, since Pew Research Center conducted its first Landscape Study in 2007.1 The share of Americans who say they are “absolutely certain” God exists has dropped more sharply, from 71% in 2007 to 63% in 2014. And the percentages who say they pray every day, attend religious services regularly and consider religion to be very important in their lives also have ticked down by small but statistically significant margins.

The falloff in traditional religious beliefs and practices coincides with changes in the religious composition of the U.S. public. A growing share of Americans are religiously unaffiliated, including some who self-identify as atheists or agnostics as well as many who describe their religion as “nothing in particular.” Altogether, the religiously unaffiliated (also called the “nones”) now account for 23% of the adult population, up from 16% in 2007.

Sir, I used the word "had"... one past tense form of the word "is".
There are still, however, overwhemlingly large pockets of devoted religious people in the U.S. (albeit with flaws).
Yes, the Word even says that as the days get closer to Christ' second coming, people will lose their love for God....

2 Timothy 3:2-5 (KJV)

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away

An extensive new survey of more than 35,000 U.S. adults finds that the percentages who say they believe in God, pray daily and regularly go to church or other religious services all have declined modestly in recent years.

But the Pew Research Center study also finds a great deal of stability in the U.S. religious landscape.

The 2014 Religious Landscape Study is a follow-up to an equally extensive survey on religion in America, conducted in 2007. An initial report on the findings from the 2014 study, released in May 2015, described the changing size and demographic characteristics of the nation’s major religious groups. This report focuses on Americans’ religious beliefs and practices and assesses how they have changed in recent years.

Reno can be reasonable sometimes. However, Christianity is a lifestyle not a religious activities this is a mis education by many pple today .

In this part of the world we all need to acquire the knowledge and the wisdom of God, Reno speak canally and as an un believer. His he saying that pple don't go to church abroad, i listen to many of these preachers T d Jake's, Joseph price, crefo Dollar, Joyce Meyer ministries and others. Perhaps, I have also live in 3 different countries. He should just shut up if he lacks spiritual understanding.

Churching is for spiritual edification and the word of God is new everyday .

Valid point bro. Read the both books you will see how they killed innocent people and claim it was on God's instructions. How can God instruct human being to go and kill his fellow human being and take all the Virgin out of the land and keep for themselves? The same God that they said he command them not to KILL. quote author=insidelife22 post=105829792]Religion is made for Africans,

Mr man, don't run away from reality. Pentecostals say Catholics are heretic idol worshippers - so, who's a Christian. Fact is, mouthing Jesus is the son doesn't really mean anything otherwise there won't be thousands of denominations preaching violently discordant doctrines and reading different bibles.
