Oga rest, some Nigerian universities already have these courses.
My friend graduated from IMT futo and did masters in artificial intelligence at the university of Nigeria nsukka.
Do your research, UNN already has some of these courses. We like making things seem worse than its here and our African neighbours are really taking advantage of it

South Africa attracts thousands of international students each year, mainly from the African continent. This way SA could become the hub for 4IR learning in Africa.
She is already

While it's a good move by South Africa to add additional courses but it's not enough to create new courses. In a real indigenous system of education, subjects in African schools won't just be limited to those handed over to us by white people. We can even create addition brand new subjects to study what's important to us.

Learn PREDATORLOGY- a new branch of study on how Europe re-colonize their former colonies today https://www.africason.com/2021/08/predatorlogy-study-of-how-europe-re.html?m=1

Don't these fall under sociology and anthropology? These new ones fall under Media and ICT portfolio.

I know with FeesMustFall protests there were calls for the decolonization of SA education. I'm not sure if new introductions were made like you're suggesting.

Nope, in Nigeria. You know we’re always late, my guess is Nigeria will follow suit in 3-5 years.

I doubt we would in 10 years. I hope I'm wrong though.
Excluding private universities, the system here looks to hold onto traditional practices too tight. Almost no non-private universities show you the course content of lessons taught throughout its programmes. This is common across Europe/US— on their websites.

Many programmes that are 4 yrs in Nigeria now should be 3. Those that are 5 should be 4. A university education (at undergraduate levels) is to establish strong fundamentals.

May God help us.

It's a brand new subject as I said. Read the given link. However, it's a bit of study of history, international politics and relation, and current affairs.

Yes, I know the South African courses are under ICT. But what I am suggesting is that they can create a brand new subject to study, for example, their relationship with white people since 1652, how they've been used, how they're being exploited today, how to take over the tall buildings in Johannesburg, how to take over those gold mines and employ white peasants to mine them instead of the other way around.

Difference is that SA is making it standard across most varsities and colleges. There's been a select institutions who've been doing this for a while like University of Johannesburg, so it's not surprising some Nigerian institutions also have the courses.

The South African education authority responsible for media and ICTs (MICT SETA) has developed 11 new qualifications aimed at addressing the shortage of skilled labour in the country's IT sector.

“As the MICT SETA we are excited about our partnership with the Higher Learning Institutions in launching and spearheading the provision of formal training for 4IR (the fourth industrial revolution) in South Africa,” said Matome Madibana - MICT SETA’s acting chief executive.

“We are hopeful that with these 11 qualifications we are going to bridge the current shortage of skilled labour within the ICT and digital industries and, ultimately, increase the employment rate and entrepreneurship.”

The newly developed qualifications are:

1. Artificial Intelligence;
2. Cloud Computing;
3. Cyber Security;
4. Data Science;
5. Design Thinking Lead;
6. Design Thinking Practitioner;
7. Internet of Things;
8. Robotic Processing Automation;
9. Quality Engineering Automation;
10. Systems Development;
11. e-Waste.

Madibana said that these qualifications will equip young professionals and the current workforce to deal with the disruptive effects of new technologies, enabling them to innovate and create new products and services across industries.

The qualifications were developed in collaboration with a community of experts such as universities, colleges, and government departments, he said.

Oh I get u now. That's some revolutionary thinking right there grin. But I think or hope there are already courses on transformation. But I understand you're suggesting a radical form of subject that will definitely face opposition from white right-wing elements in SA who will accuse it of "white genocide" or something. They're already on Fox News every month complaining about affirmative action and Black Economic Empowerment. But it could also be broadened to the continental context I guess.

Where else but a South African thread, even though he has beef with SA? Isn't that the common factor with all the trolls we've slayed on this forum over the years? They're forever in SA threads.
