•Lagos, Rivers, Oyo record highest in generation

•Kano displaces Rivers, Oyo in collections

•Zamfara generates N75 m, gets N4.5 b monthly

By Emma Ujah, Abuja Bureau Chief

As the Value Added (VAT) war rages, Saturday Vanguard has obtained details of collections made by each state and what it was allocated by the Federation Allocation Committee (FAAC), between January and August of this year, which indicates that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Offices in Lagos, Rivers and Oyo states recorded the highest collections.

Lagos generated N429. 203 billion; Rivers, N90. 293 billion, while Oyo came third with N64. 646 billion.

However, in the allocation of VAT revenue, Kano came second, displacing Rivers and Oyo from the top places on the table, after Lagos.

Lagos received the sum of N139. 587 billion; Kano which generated N24 . 492 billion received the second highest allocation of N 47. 082 billion, while Rivers was in the third position as it got N 46. 270 billion.

Zamfara stood out as a peculiar state with the least generation of VAT revenue. It was the only state that recorded less than a billion in the eight-month period of review.

The state generated only N598. 133 million, an average of about N75 million per month.

However, it received the sum of N35. 716 billion (about N4.5 billion monthly), placing it at the forth position on the allocation table.

Kaduna which recorded a VAT revenue of N18. 262 billion, came after Zamfara with an allocation of N32. 726 billion, while Kastina which generated N3. 738 billion in the period under review got N31. 539 billion.

An analysis based on the six geo-political zones showed that South West had the highest allocation of N256. 737 billion, particularly because of the huge allocation to Lagos state.

North West had the second highest allocation of N219. 813 billion.

The oil producing region of South-South N 162. 598 billion.

North East and North Central received N129. 801 billion and N129. 154 billion respectively; while the South East kept the rear with N 109.629 billion allocation.

Ebonyi is higher probably due to capital projects which should be encouraged.

Wow, from this Ebonyi just receive just a little more than twice than it generated as allocation, which means if it should delve more into its solid minerals it won't need those allocation.
Ebonyi even performed better than Abia and Imo in revenue generation, yet they make it seem it is Ebonyi who badly needs the allocation.
Inside life cheesy
Ebonyi limestones in large quantities, limestone can be used to produce a varieties of products, that’s one of the reason Ebonyi state is very important

Apology to the Northerners. I don’t think they are the parasite when looking at this VAT thing. Most of all the states are parasites both North and South except Lagos, Rivers, and Oyo.

Bayelsa, Delta, Kaduna, Kano, and Ogun are trying to an extent too.
you should also apologize for calling SE death states bcoz of the VAT collection, bcoz SE leads in cash transaction and sustainability index

Something doesn't add up in these figures. Ebonyi actually generated far higher than any other SE state shocked shocked How is that even possible?
Ebonyi has the highest solid minerals in South East, do you know lead, zinc, limestone gymsum and granite are daily mines in the state. Get closer and understand why and don't just assume what you think cheesy cheesy grin you all think Ebonyi doesn't have enough resources on its own
Re: VAT: What States Generated, Received In Past 8 Months by Multiplier7(m): 10:30am On Sep 19, 2021
Ebonyi is even vomiting money more than any state in the south east and some states in the south south, but many Igbo's are critizing the state as a local state.

Inside life. A good example of the stone which the builder rejected is now the chief corner stone.

Kudos to Ebonyi State!
Small but mighty indeed!

The sustainability index is 2020 report, and nothing changed about the cash transaction report, it has even improved bcoz in mid 2018 NIWA said that over 60 percent of importation in the country goes to onitsha

People tend to underrate Oyo, the state is economically viable; young people there are great thinkers, they take advantage of opportunities.

It actually shows all the list so far is political
Bad roads is kill Ogun biz

But to be sincere, south west deserves better, especially Lagos & Oyo......South East states have been bounded, they now look like parasites. Recent administration is now killing the vibrant of IgboS. Many of them contributed to the success of Oyo &Lagos but people will still give the yorubas the glory. Come 2023, i pray a great leader leads from South east.

I agree with you.
In the next few years, Oyo state will be a new economy hub. Its low standard of living also make it more appealing to reside and do business

This is more clear and understandable.

With this decision of sharing percentage, it will be one sided and can see why the agitation for stopping FIRS from collecting the VATs are prevalence
The percentages are skewed to favour the north. A new template of Derivation 50%, equality 30% and population 20% has been presented but not sure of its approval.

Ebonyi state is an underdog state neglected and undermined by many. To those who really understand the potential of that state knows that she's not a small state. It's a state to reckon with in the future because of her agriculture, natural resources + manpower, etc.

Like Napoleon Bonaparte said: “Let China Sleep, for when she wakes, she will shake the world”. Same goes to Ebonyi State, cos when she fully arouse, she will shake the foundation of Nigeria.
