Glide for how many minutes? Someone shutting down that engine on purpose will nose dive the plane if it is refusing to come down. Terrorist are deadly faa.

Max air is used to doing this and getting away with it countless times. I have once spent 6hrs delay at Abuja airport for a flight to Lagos that should have taken just 40 mins. And most times, they won't even give you any reason for delay and you won't see any staff to complain to. By the time the flight boarding starts around 1am, no one has any strength to fight or complain again, we just rush into the plane irrespective of seat number like say na Lagos agbero bus.

I booked a flight from Lagos to Abuja, and when I got to the airport, we were told that the plane is in Port Harcourt and it will load passengers to Abuja and then pick-up passengers from Abuja to Lagos and then take us to Abuja.

Mind you this was 12noon, they shifted the flight to 3pm and later 5pm, and when they couldn't continue with their lies they opened up that the flight has been cancelled.

I asked the Arik air staff, hope I will get a refund cos obviously it's not my fault, she nodded Yes. My brothers and sisters can you imagine that Arik uses 40 working days to process refunds.
I don't know what I was thinking going to buy ticket on an airline that is in distress under AMCON .
I met my childhood friend at the airport that work for FAAN he told me to forget the money cos Arik do the same scam almost every day to innocent passengers.

My friend said the 40 working days is a way of them saying OGA forget your money it's now ours.
It's been 63 days I haven't still gotten my money back. Any time I go to their office to make trouble they make me look like I'm crazy for asking for a refund.

Guys I don't know what to do. The thought of being duped by Arik air is disturbing my mental health. I'm tired.

They should've beat him down. Delay for 4 hours?.... and mouthing off?

If she truly insulted them, the Pilot was right to have requested for her disembarkment. People should understand that Air Traffic Controlling tower is the only unit that can give clearance to Pilots to takeoff. People need to start watching Air Crash Investigation Reports on Channel 181 to know how little things can potentially crash a plane.

No matter what the issue is, two wrong can never a right.

The pilot probably breached protocol by even coming out of the cockpit. What if an errant passenger went on to commandeer the airplane and initiate a hijack. Even if the cockpit was locked from the inside by the First Officer until he heard from the pilot, it’s still possible the pilot could be held hostage so as to get his co-pilot to open the door.

And by the way, if the errant passenger was sustaining her disruption of the peace in the aircraft, then it’s the duty of the pilot and other crew members to ensure she was deboarded before the plane went on its trip.

He allowed himself to be angered. Ego. Passengers have right to complain.

Since when is it the passengers duty to pay for services and then take it upon himself / herself to carry our stress / mental analyses on the service provider? That pilot conducted himself in a very unprofessional manner.

Part of the job is to have empathy and learn to de-escalate such situation. What does he cost him to just ignore the lady or apologize on behalf of his boss who caused the passenger to be angered by not keeping to the time agreement. Of course things happen beyond their control, that is the moment / opportunity for him to stand up and show professionalism by engaging the aggrieved passenger and try calming her and de-escalate the situation. His conduct / reaction only increased the stress and rowdiness of the passengers.

In case he is having any form of instability (emotional or otherwise), the should not be put in a situation to shoulder such responsibilities. As he has shown. No be BRT him dey drive na. . Him no even respect him uniform and all those things on his shoulders, acting like an agbero. lol

Na everybody want show themselves for Naija. It wasn't even necessary for him to engage the passengers. The purser should have been able to do that perfectly. Only where there is major disruption or threat, then he can exhibit his executive order.

Meanwhile Arik doesn't pick their so-called refund phone number, it will ring for 600 times and no one will care to pick up the phone.

Send a mail to them, put consumer protection in the copy of the mail and also FAAN and other agencies at d airport

I support the pilot. Most passengers just want to rush not knowing the hazards involved in flying. What if they delay was due to bad weather or something needed to be fixed of which I'm sure the airline must have apologised about.

There was a pilot dat crashed a plane in d US years ago because he was depressed, he was also a cocaine addict and was able to go unditected for years b4 crashing d plane.
And yes d pilot can pull d throttle and d plane will nose dive in full speed.

What ya'll should know is that these passengers on these northern routes are intentionally rude to crew members just because they know the owner of the airline, not that i supported the pilot in question but if flight delays was due to operational reasons the pilot have every right to ground the aircraft until the problem is fixed they can't fly airplanes when it's not safe,these pax on these routes believes no one should talk to them anyhow

Airlines have rules that guides them in handling unruly passengers,
For her assaulting crewmembers or pilots that's level threat number 1 either the flight is delayed or not that's a threat to safety of everyone onboard and the aircraft itself,
They'll make attempt to neutralise the situation by crewmembers and if that's doesn't work, this is when Capt makes announcement and if that doesn't work, aviation security will be invited and this unruly passenger will be taken to Tango city at international airport,
And if you are taken there you are finished,
You'll be transferred to police station where you'll be booked to appear in court behind bar

The pilot is being paid to fly and not to receive insults. Why is that so difficult for men haters to understand.

If you become unruly on an aeroplane, the Captain has the right to desemberk the passenger and even if it was in mid air, the captain will cause that you should be restrained. Thereafter you may be blacklisted from flying with all other airlines. This is done for the safety of air travellers.

There are rules to flying and any passenger who becomes unruly will be sanctioned by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAC)
