EkehPraise:
Maybe because I attend an orthodox church where they still preach the real word of God and remind us that we are nothing but mere sand so every time I go to church and listen to the word with my whole heart it keeps me straightened in character and sets my heart to the end goal which is to be saved.

Shalom.
Which orthodox church is this one talking about? As far as am concern the genuine Pentecostal churches like Living faith church, Redeem Cristian Church, Dunamis, The Lords chosen, Deeper Life, Salvation Ministry among others preach salvation more than other denominations. So stop misleading the people.

If your going to church has not transformed your character in one way or the other, then it is either you are not serious with God or your church is not preaching the truth with power...

The church I am attending presently has helped me conquer lying and taught me to always say the truth. It has also helped me to value integrity and dislike malpractice. God used them to help me.

How has your church helped you in your character?

But Christian's like you preach to non-christians that even if their religion (or lack of) produces good character in them it is still wrong. So why is your yardstick for measuring godliness now good character?

I am Maximus. Before i started studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses i use to view everyone around me as suspects because i was taught that mankind are dubious.
I only play and chat with people i know and i don't really know much about God or Jesus.

But when i began studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses there was a turn around, i now know that i'm obligated to make friends with all the people in my neighbourhood by going to visit them (uninvited) for discussions having to do with God! Malachi 3:16 compare to Matthew 10:11-13; 28:19-20

I discovered that peace is missing in the human society because of lack of communication, so instead of waiting until something happens i need to approach my neighbour with a friendly smile to know what he thinks of me and vise versa. This will help us know our boundaries and we won't have to hurt each other since we already knew about what each person wants!

Then i also discovered that most people feel their neighbour supposed to know how to deal with them without any formal communication, so when they see their neighbour doing things the way they feel is absurd they will mock him.

I also learned that it's wrong to force my beliefs on others so if there is no agreement i mustn't disturb my neighbour's peace. So if i try to reach out to my neighbour and he is not in the mood i should book another appointment instead of disturbing him with noise all in the name of God.

I also learned that politics is the root cause of all the evil on this planet so there's no way one can meddle in Politics without having secret friends like Fornicators, Adulterers, Murderers, Prostitutes, Witches, Fraudsters, Drunkards and many others since a politician needs the support of all these people before becoming part of the rulers! Galatians 5:19-21

In fact i've learned a lot just to mention few! smiley

None of the churches you mentioned preaches the Truth of Jesus Christ. Every Church out there preaches the doctrines and traditions of men, man's agenda where the Truth of God is concerned. undecided

Nice people or new men?

"...There is either a warning or an encouragement here for every one of us. if you are a nice person — if virtue comes easily to you beware! much is expected from those to whom much is given. if you mistake for your own merits what are really God's gifts to you through nature, and if you are contented with simply being nice, you are still a rebel: and all those gifts will only make your fall more terrible, your corruption more complicated, your bad example more disastrous.

The devil was an archangel once; his natural gifts were as far above yours as yours are above those of a chimpanzee. But if you are a poor creature — poisoned by a wretched upbringing in some house full of vulgar jealousies and senseless quarrels — saddled, by no choice of your own, with some loathsome sexual perversion — nagged day in and day out by an inferiority complex that makes you snap at your best friends — do not despair. He knows all about it. You are one of the poor beyond personality whom He blessed. He knows what a wretched machine you are trying to drive. keep on. do what you can. One day (perhaps in another world, but perhaps far sooner than that) he will fling it on the scrap-heap and give you a new one. and then you may astonish us all — not least yourself: for you have learned your driving in a hard school. (Some of the last will be first and some of the first will be last.)

"niceness" — wholesome, integrated personality — is an excellent thing. We must try by every medical, educational, economic, and political means in our power, to produce a world where as many people as possible grow up "nice"; just as we must try to produce a world where all have plenty to eat. But we must not suppose that even if we succeeded in making everyone nice we should have saved their souls. a world of nice people, content in their own niceness, looking no further, turned away from God, would be just as desperately in need of salvation as a miserable world — and might even be more difficult to save.

For mere improvement is not redemption, though redemption always improves people even here and now and will, in the end, improve them to a degree we cannot yet imagine. God became man to turn creatures into sons: not simply to produce better men of the old kind but to produce a new kind of man.
It is not like teaching a horse to jump better and better but like turning a horse into a winged creature. Of course, once it has got its wings, it will soar over fences which could never have been jumped and thus beat the natural horse at its own game. But there may be a period, while the wings are just beginning to grow, when it cannot do so: and at that stage the lumps on the shoulders — no one could tell by looking at them that they are going to be wings — may even give it an awkward appearance. But perhaps we have already spent too long on this question." - Excerpt from 'Mere Christianity' by C. S. Lewis

Please understand in the end that our niceness or good works cannot save us, only Jesus can save us. We cannot of ourselves be nice or good enough to enter heaven without having being delivered from our Adamic nature by the power of God's Holy Spirit. For by grace we are saved, not of works.

If you don’t have self-control and associated good virtues don’t go into marriage.

I have natural good characters and my church was able to build more on me, which is helping me in my marriage. I didn’t know I married what I never wished to have as a wife but the spirit of God is helping me to overcome all her drama she dramatizes.

I think you are admitting you are now more close-minded than you previously were as a result of churchianism. lipsrsealed

Sadly, Jesus Christ said that those who will enter into Heaven are those who are as open-minded as children are. undecided

If you had taken your own advice, you would have understood that my question to him is how come he attributes it to his church attendance when there are so many others who developed the same habits without church in the first place. undecided

There are no 2 ways to developing a habit. You simply commit to developing it and then you work at it - that is how we develop habits as humans -church has absolutely nothing to do with it. undecided

Who told you that it is church that converts people into "good"? People decide to change and then they commit to that decisions until they become better than their former selves. undecided

Where exactly did Jesus Christ tell you that the Holy Ghost converts people? The same Spirit that Jesus Christ explained can't inhabit unholy vessels will convert sinners and unbelievers? Where did Jesus Christ teach you this? undecided

Also, People can and do in fact decide to change. We all are Born with what folks call a conscience and depending on where we are in life, we each decide whether to change and what we would like to change into. undecided
