Apparently PF 2 is already been built. Also, the Proforce MD mentioned that the production time for Ara has been reduced. The NA has also ordered the PF2.

By the way i hope the present CoAS will not abandon NVMC.

I just dey imagine the way e go end if PDP supporters invaded the National Assembly in Abuja after Atiku lost the 2019 presidential election the way Trump supporters invaded the US Capitol grin

The last time there was an active war in the United States, a lot of civilians were caught in the crossfire. Let's not even go too far, one of the rioters at the capitol hill was shot and killed by US law enforcement agents. The last time there was also a protest against police brutality in the US, the police ended up brutalizing several protesters. They are wise enough not to allow their country turn into a warzone and that's the major difference.
You don't need to site what's happening in the US to ascertain what's bad and what's good, it shouldn't be that difficult to point out.

Glad that the Army already ordered the Viper MRAP but to be frank, stanag level 1 isn't enough ballistic protection where the enemy has enough 12.7mm ammunitions and other armor piercing bullet callibres.

They could have shown the UAV too though,it would have been a great marketing opportunity.
They could have also mentioned their current production capacity, not just telling us they now produce the ARA faster, I will root for them more if I know they are capable of producing 20-25 per month.
The army for kukuma turn the place into another barracks with the way they've painted the whole place in their colors grin, no be only them be their partner now, but on a serious note I'm very glad with the support provided.
Government at all levels should also attempt to support the company and other indeginous companies too. For example, the 100 hectares could have been provided for free or at least at a subsidized rate. Tax holidays, grants and so on are also other ways by which we can support the company. On the part of the FG, they should focus on reactivation Ajaokuta, that alone is a great support they can render to the company.

We all have our biases and it affects our judgments one way or another, nobody is happy with the way things are in Nigeria right now. As long as anyone doesn't harbor evil intentions towards the country, I'm cool with the person.
We are all here(at least I am) to identify and discuss solutions to the numerous problems of this country from our own point of view and limited knowledge and to be frank, many of what has been discussed here have actually been implemented (not saying the military checks this place for information grin).

We also share knowledge and materials that could be of help to us too. There is a certain level of bond among many of us here, the way we've been interacting with one another for many years now without really knowing one another. At times I get scared once I notice it's been long since some people contributed to the thread, especially those in high risks locations, I'm starting to view many here as brothers already. Being a member of this thread has been an amazing experience so far and it has taught me so many lessons in life. It's a bit sad that many who were here in the early days of the thread are no longer available here but as an adage says, 20 children cannot play together for 20 years.

The vehicles and drone projects are very promising. I just wonder how a jet-trainer aircraft project they like to collaborate with would be useful to train the Police air wing. That does actually not make sense.

True, but there are trade offs. Firstly there are certain fixed costs associated with subs like the Shore based Sub Support facility. Smth like Kings Bay Naval Sub Base in Georgia for the USN Tridents allowing for loading of stores, repair and maintenance under a roof allowing submerging and berthing away from nosy satellites. In typical American style its HUGE! A small (by US standards) town of 15 k spread out over 6500 ha. Expect the infrastructure to include facilities like several 50 T hydraulic hoists,

5 axis CNCs like this for precision repair and manufacture of extremely low tolerance parts and spares for the propulsion and/or weapons sytems.

Escape training tanks like this

https://youtu.be/QnFXS29ExrM

not to mention cold stores, armouries and health facilities from gyms to dentistries and hospitals. The large 5 axis CNC starts at 500 k$. All under roofs with the docking bay on the beach to allow berthing.

Minimum of 2 TRVs, Torpedo Recovery Vessels like the Indian Astravahini. I can't find a price but its MUCH smaller than a 300 ft OPV about the size of a Damen Stan around 130 ft. Such size vessels start at around 40 mn$ and you'd need at least 2.

The SoKors have the Dolgorae class.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolgorae-class_submarine

Imo,midget subs won't fit in financially or tactically. Spending a 100 mn $ minimum to carry a couple of SEALS and/or 3 or 4 torps within the Gulf of Guinea doesn't make sense. For a starter sub I'd go for the French Andrasta at 150 mn $ and 3 mn $ yearly op cost..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrasta-class_submarine

Learn sub ops and develop doctrines. After a decade scale up with 350 mn $ Kilos. In my rough estimate the cost of the ShBaSuSuFa and all equipment and buildings alone should be minimum 500 mn $.

Idk how I overlooked torpedo cost. I rmbr nemesis saying indig built torps were going for 2.5 mn $ each. You'll want a full unit of at least 8 for your mini and another 2 units backup on shore storage; iow 60 mn $ per minisub.
Their shelf life ISN'T unlimited so ideally your shoot them all out in max 10 yrs and rotate in fresh ordnance. I rmbr someone saying with TYPICAL complete confidence of NL if Saffas have subs the NN can also acquire them but look at Finland.

At the moment, Finland can have submarines, but it does not. What makes this so unusual is the fact that this country now finds itself as the only Baltic Sea state that does not have any submarines in operation
[url][/https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/why-was-finland-forbidden-from-having-submarines.html]

Some say that acquiring new submarines would simply be too expensive. Sweden is said to have offered to sell Finland some submarines for a good price in the 1990s but the deal fell through. The cost to create a new submarine service would have been too high for Finland. The money needed to create new training facilities, new naval bases, additional logistics chains, and to pay to operate the submarines on a day-to-day basis was predicted to be something that Finland could not really afford.

Yes, guys! Finland, the 14th richest nation with a GDP per capita of 54330$ just behind Holland finds the cost NOT worth it. As I said the associated costs of sub ops are the REAL KILLER!

They have a very small navy with 8 fast attack craft only. Submarines should have surface vessels like frigates as force multipliers for max efficiency. I think with their fleet size and composition it did not make much sense for them at that time.

If we had not been operating subs since 1970 -the high cost of properly setting up a sub service from scratch, would have precluded us just like Finland.

Finland is a damn good example actually, their defence budget is equal to SA's, but their orbat is better.

A number of nations on the list above aren’t as wealthy as Finland. Does Colombia actually operate 11 submarines shocked In any case, as long as Africa influences Nigeria, Nigeria will always be held back. Africans can sometimes seem desperate for Nigeria not to leave them behind and seem happiest when they can mock Nigeria. Nigeria ideally should at the very least aim to compete with nations of her rank such as Indonesia, Egypt, brazil, India, Pakistan, Norway, Argentina and so on not be dragging pot with the likes of Ghana, Rwanda, Cameroon, Ivory cost and be sitting down after with oil-stained mouth, flanked by fly-assed mongrel dogs.

I'm not a fan of "Nigeria in Africa" - in a manner of speaking.

Let's first learn how to crawl before we start looking forward to walking. Nigeria needs to get back on the track we derailed from decades ago and return to its glory days, then we can hope to compete with those who are supposed to be our peers in Africa.
Personally, I believe submarines shouldn't be what we should be spending on right now when we have pressing needs for other platforms.
