Take it easy. Uber & Bolt drivers are not as bad as you think. I wish you good luck though.

You must know someone in Naija
Call him or her to come pick you
Go to a hotel and look after chatting with this friend and he is gone, change hotel that way you stay ahead just incase anything unusual wud happen.

Instead, wen that friend can't find you, tell him or her whatever dey want to hear.......

Remember to remove all flight tags from your bag. The risk of harm is lower when no one knows your origin compared to when they know you are coming from a very developed country. Without a tag, you may have as well arrived from Benin or Ghana.

Hi guys, I need experiences from people flying into Nigeria(MMIA) Lagos.
My family is not going to be able to meet me at the airport this time and I am weighing up my options with transit.

I have a friend who said he knows someone that does transportation that he can come pick me up and take me to an hotel, however I am a little skeptical with that option with the high rates of insecurity in the country.

My opinion is that sometimes being annonymous to your service provider is better, but I am a little concerned with the security level of Uber in Lagos.

Are uber drivers known to kidnap their clients particularly people boarding them at MMIA ?

Can uber hold their drivers responsible if something untoward were to happen to their clients, or if they are known to connive with kidnappers etc ?

I just need experienced info and also from uber drivers to make a better decision.

THanks all.

My believe is that one can not be too careful...you can't be smarter than danger. The thing is that God forbid any danger on our way.... Request for Uber, on your way to the requested destination, change your location so as not be able to predict your movement. Finally, commit your way into the hands of God..you will be fine at the end

If your friend is willing to pick you up, why would you trust uber driver more than your friend? I'll rather take the risk of going with my friend than a random person. It's very unlikely that your friend would betray you in such instance except in movies tho.
Did u say friend?
There is an igbo saying that goes thus... Obuo onye ma mmadu ne gbu mmadu. It means its someone who knows someone that kills that person. If your gut says you should come in incognito, better follow it. Nigeria is horrible now, in fact, Stay away if you can.

What a hopeless question. The country you’re coming from, do Uber drivers kidnap people? If no then it’s the same in Nigeria.

And as it is in other countries,
Just ask God for protection in your going out and coming in.

Who told you that's how it is in other countries
Instead of you to admit that insecurity is ravaging the country under your darling daddy you are here talking rubbish...

The last time a friend tried using ride sharing app Uber to be precise ..

The airport taxi guys lynched the driver ..

Those guys don't have joy and I still wonder how they know ..

He paid 80000 to get his vehicle released ..

Don't know if they still pick people but I know they drop off passengers at the airport ..

Take an airport taxi to any of the hotels in ajao estate or ikeja ..
Change base from there ..

I HAVE BEEN IN YOUR SHOES MANY TIMES... here is the solution I used.

I booked an hotel in Ikeja that has an airport pickup service... so anytime I arrive Lagos Nigeria, I simply call the number of the driver, then call the hotel booking number for confirmation, take a snapshot of the car and driver and send to someone I can trust and also my location will be shared on whatsapp while the ride is on..... then I get to the hotel, if I like, I can cancel the room and leave or complete the payment and stay

Even at the airport there are CAB SERVICES that you can negotiate to your budget, also there are hotel services....

Anonymity is good and I prefer being in the country for a few days earlier than the time everyone expects.

What's the difference with that and Uber na so una go de spoil people business anyhow .. .so the hotel driver cannot harm u if he's the devil type ?

If you're not a politician or a celebrity, just calm down and stop being paranoid. Nobody knows you. VIPs use Uber in Nigeria and nobody reason them. But in case you're still scared, just take an Uber to a hotel not too far from the airport. Sit at the bar or reception and book another one to another hotel in another location. You're good to go. Make sure you don't speak Queen's English.
Fact!! People run, when no one purseth

Use bolt or Uber look for responsible one and make him your permanent driver

By conversation you will know who's responsible
