Some of Nnamdi Kanu’s speeches are unfortunate and regrettable. I’m sure that I am reflecting the opinions of millions of Igbos when I say that. The outburst against Yoruba people are not what you’d expect from someone like him.
I am against it and I have spoken to lots of Igbos who condemn that. However the sins of online Igbos or supporters of Biafra are not different from that of Yoruba people. Let’s be fair. Oba Akiolu openly bragged, threatened Igbos with the infamous lagoon drowning….over what?? To prevent Igbos voting against Tinubu’s anointed politicians and APC! Igbos in Lagos were threatened. Igbos we’re attacked in Lagos and their businesses threatened. Tinubu’s wife harassed an Igbo boy and it was captured on video. Dr. Ariyo started his in the US…you can argue that yorubas were protecting their political turf.

Pa Fasoranti’s daughter was killed when her car was shot at. Locals around the area and Afenifere claimed it was done by Fulani herdsmen/bandits. Tinubu of all people came there and exonerated the fulanis and instead blamed Igbos. He had to distract mourners with the Evans and his people nonsense.

Igbos and yorubas insult each other here every second. For every potopoto and erosion ravaged landscape, there was brown roof and people who shit in polythene bags response. For every drug or baby factory banter, there were yahoo yahoo and skull miners reply.

Online yorubas ask Igbos to leave Lagos and go back home while disapproving of Biafra. Photos of malnourished Biafran children were displayed here to mock Igbos. Photos of Young men lying in muddy water surrounded by soldiers were displayed here. When Ladipo traders resisted Tinubu’s daughter, police and military were brought in to intimidate and harm them. Yoruba posters rejoiced when those boys were captured on camera lying down with the police and military surrounding them. Someone who claim to be an Igbo chief was attacked at the palace of a Yoruba chief. Yoruba posters rejoiced.
Igbos were constantly mocked for being the sacrificial lamb of Nigerias unity. When Igbos are attacked in the north, lot of people rejoiced here on Nairaland and other social media platforms. When Igbos attempted some form of retaliation, they are reminded that their people are everywhere…..

…..I’m not sure if ambivalence is the right word but lots of Igbos are against Nnamdi Kanu’s utterances but at the same time like him when he hits the nail on the head with his resilience and no nonsense stance. You can query his history, how he pay his bills etc but I’m sure his fans don’t care. Lots of us do care. I’m not a fan of Emma Powerful as I think he doesn’t represent the Interest of Igbos with his bragging and crude manner of talking.

About insecurity in the south east. Lots of people are concerned that it’s being hijacked by people who shouldn’t be holding weapons but I will blame the Nigeria police and military for this.
Igbo youths and and hard working people have been killed in some mindless violence by the Nigeria army, police and DSS. It was only a matter of time before people throw caution to the wind start retaliating.

Nigeria military, police and DSS harass, bully and kill people from the south east and walk free. Kanu isn’t the reason for ESN or UGM. It was only a matter of time and whatever operation python dance or any name they come up with. The violence might escalate beyond what we are seeing.

Whatever the opinions of every Igbo man about Kanu and IPOB….many don’t want to hear about Kanu and IPOB, I can assure you of that but I’ll tell that Igbos don’t like to see or hear that Fulanis are camping in the forest. Igbos see it as an insult, attack, intimidation and sacrilege that Fulanis will destroy farmlands, brag and fight the farmers with the police and military assisting them.

A lot of us don’t want to hear Biafra because it has no clear direction and strategy and because Kanu’s words hurt and brings rancour from our supposed allies.
