Nonsense..
how does scoring against obscure teams like legia warsaw make him one of the world's best?..
Even someone like like immobile who has being scoring loads at SeriaA for several years isn't even called amongst the world best...
You guys really need a huge dose of reality

Shut up!!
I'm sure you're one of those Ronaldo fan boys that were all over the internet celebrating Ronaldo's overhead kick against luxembourg, that wasnt even a goal. Now you're downplaying the team victor scored against just because you never really rated the hard working boy. I remember how you SWORN in here that Osimhen will NEVER attain the level of strikers like etoo, zlatan, drogba... You claimed the highest level he would be able to attain would be in the class of strikers like lacazette, peter crouch... The internet never forgets. What do you gain by belittling someone's progress? Let me tell you something you probably don't know -"victor osimhen doesn't give a damn about you". So I will advice you channel your bad energy elsewhere.

My man I like going into archive to dig out facts.

Funny Osimehn stilk have to beat Odegbami 22 goals before Yekini 37 goals...he need one more goal to beat Keshi 9 goals.

But am seeing him achieving that record of Yekini.
It will b good if this thread should set aside thursdays for discussions from d achieves, exploits of the past, everything old ,

He still hasn’t attained drogba status. Although, by his present trajectory, it is highly feasible. For now, let’s be humble and allow him to grow. The boy is 22 and already world class (on his day)

For those who want to know if Osimhen is better than Haaland, here's what the stats say:

In every other season, Haaland would have trumped Osimhen, but this is the first full season where both players are fully settled and injury free.

So far this season, they've played almost exact minutes so the playing field is level .

1. Defensive striker

During his Lille and early Napoli days Osimhen was a far better defensive striker than Haaland. Better presser and menace to defenders.

But this season under Spalletti, just as Osimhen's aggression has reduced, Haaland’s has increased during his years at Dortmund.

Today, they have the exact same defensive attributes, and anyone who says Osimhen is far better is bias.

Note: Senior Man, Iheanacho is better than both of them defensively. (Iheancho has scored more goals from steals and tackles than both)

2. Finishing.

By this time last year, Osimhen was a wasteful forward, while Haaland was one of the world's deadliest finisher.

Under Spalleti, Osimhen has improved so much that he is toe-toe with Haaland.

Anybody who says Haaland is a far better finisher is working on past glory.

3. Creativity

Osimhen still has loads to do to catch Haaland, but Haaland isn't up to Kels when creativity is mentioned.

4. In every other attribute, Haaland edges Osimhen.

But what statistics wouldn't show you is movement, the most important attribute of any striker, and this is where Osimhen doesn't compare with Haaland.

Haaland’s better movement means despite them being identical in other aspects, Haaland would get 3 goalscoring chances in the same game where Osimhen would get only 1.

This is why last season they missed almost the same number of clear cut chances (Osimhen=14, Haaland=19), but Haaland almost tripled Osimhen's goal return (Osimehn=10, Haaland=25).

Bottom line: Victor is closing in on Erling, but Haaland is not stagnant either. Where he was lagging behind Osimhen, he has caught up, so it's now Osimhen's turn.

APPLAUD HIM, BUT DO NOT OVERHYPE!

Hope u understand that eto is arguably the african greatest footballer of all time,
This is not what u achieve playing for leicester ,or even at napoli .
it will take a long time to reach eto's or drogba's status .
They need to perform at d highest level consistently 4 some few seasons before we can conclude they r next eto or drogba.

Let's pray they enjoy injury free career ,especially Osimhen ,so he can fulfil his potential n attain such status.
The comparison isn't really about being greatest but just on the basis of that no 9. And Eto'o is not "ARGUABLY" Africans greatest, Eto'o is "ACTUALLY" Africa's greatest.

I always wonder y,

in other countries,u would c several strikers scoring over 50 goals,
But in nigeria ,our greatest players like kanu and okocha don't have up to 20 goals each to their credits.
you can count with your fingers eagles that were consistent for 10 years or more

The context of the message is not being the greatest but just the No 9 position. Salah and Mane are not the typical No 9 and Osihmne and Daka are still very far what what Mane and Salah have achieved.

At this rate he will definitely surpass Rashidi's record and indeed it is high time that record is outstripped by another person and no other person seems ready to do that apart from Osibaba

Nacho, at a point seemed to be the one blessed to undertake the task, but, Osimhen? He ain't playing.

Imagine Segun Odegbami a winger with just 7 years with eagles and 44 apoearances had 22 goals..this man retired in 1981...40 years ago and still hold the record as the second highest goal scorer.

Yakubu could have broken Yekini's record sha.

True talk boss. Moses was our Talisman, was always troubling our opponents and whenever we have a penalty he takes them. I don't think he even missed any. The guy was good, let's be fair in our judgement. If he decides to come out of retirement nobody will bench in this present super eagles.
Hmm the same guy alot of folks here criticize when he was still in the team.

If he doesn’t pick up in Greece where can he pick up ?

Onyekuru should better pick up in Greece unless he will see him self back at turkey playing for adana denispor

I actually prefer him in Turkey than Greece, pitches in Greece are half-grass half-plantation, but I prefer Olympiacos to any Turkish team.

Today, Osimhen is better than Tammy Abraham. Even if it's possible for Tammy to change allegiance he will find it very difficult to get into the current SE.
Blueelf:

Osimhen is a very good player no doubt despite his glaring weaknesses

Not long ago, we were comparing him with Tammy Abraham and this generated lots of controversies smiley

Well, its still too early to judge

Latest FIFA rankings, we dropped to 36th with a deficit of14.19 points, Egypt gained 13.23 points and moved to 44th. We have to win the two remaining matches.

Are you sure of what you just wrote, or are you saying this because you don't really know the names of these other players from other African countries? Senegal and Morocco still have about 9-10 players each in the champions league ooo while we only have Chuks and Zaidu who have spent more time on the bench than in the pitch. And the way it stands, only Senegal, Algeria and Moroccan players stand a chance of going home with a golden medal in this year's UEFA champions league. Most of our players are in the Europa league and conference league

Meanwhile, December 27th is the date clubs are supposed to release their players for AFCON..
The tournament starts on January 9th... that means there's 2 weeks for teams to prepare..

Meanwhile, we should brace ourselves of the possible injuries that will befall African players in the weeks leading to the start of the tournamentgrin .. A lot of clubs will do anything to keep their star players away from the tournament. grin
