The idiotic trio of garbage shehu, Lai Mohamed and Femi adesina will soon accuse ipob and nnamdi of being the sponsors of the report.

Idiots. Succeeded in making this great country a laughing stock with their gross stupidity and incompetence.

My comparison is very valid. Did the US army defeat the Taliban or not? Why is not defeating boko haram an geace crime? You yourself, can you pick up a gun and fight boko haram?
Afghanistan is talibans nation and they are a professional army that did what any army that is worth it's salt would do, they defended their nation from external aggretion. But your shameless NA are aiding foreign Invaders against Nigeria.

The Nigerian Army is right and I think the Economists was wrong to characterized an entire organization as weak and corrupt. It should have been clear, the Leadership of the Nigerian Army is corrupt.

This takes the blame off the organization, which still has credible and professional men and women, but focus more on the leaders of the organization. Certainly, if the Leaders don't like the publication, then they have a housekeeping duty to make.

BREAKING: We are not Useless – Nigerian Army replies UK paper

The Nigerian Army has said that it is a globally respected agency. This is in response to an Editorial by The Economist of the United Kingdom (UK) on Saturday where the Muhammadu Buhari administration was described as incompetent, and criticised for being ‘unable to curb corruption’. The piece was titled ‘The Crime Scene at the Heart of Africa’.

The publication also accused the Nigerian Army of selling weapons to insurgents, just as it pointed out that ‘insurgency, secessionism and banditry threaten Nigeria’.

But Nigerian authorities are thoroughly displeased with the report, and have fired back.

In a statement on Saturday by Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Nigerian Army Spokesperson, the agency said it is “certainly not what the so-called report by the Economist tried to characterize it”.

Globally respected? Perhaps in the past. Now not even the people you swore to protect have any respect for you. They fear your weapons and your ability to turn it on unarmed personnel.

Respect? That is a tale for another time.

PS explain how someone was able to attack your centre of excellence - the Defence Academy and kidnap an officer!! I am still shocked at this!!

They are not useless, and will never be
The uselsess ones are those that despite their relentless efforts stupidly accepts that they are useless because someone 6,000 miles away from us wrote so…
They useless ones are those that invade improvised third world country, failed to build the country with a fraction of trillions wasted and runaway from fighting bunch of miscrants…

In the beginning, Boko haram/bandits /terrorists had Dane guns, then they graduated to AK47, then they graduated to RPG and Gun trucks , then armoured trucks...

where did all the graduation from Dane guns come from? Is it not the Army that owns such weapons?

Releasing so called repented boko haram and bandits, who will later turn against the army establishment are facts. The army knows the sponsorer of boko haram, but cannot go after them is a fact, due to power from above. How can farmers obtain permission from the army before going to their farmland? is a fact. The army need to redeem itself, by seperating herself from politics and go back to status quo. The army can be REPOSITION, SEE THE REPORT AS A WAKE UP CALL.

I'm actually laughing at the Nigerian army right now. But let take a minute and examine what's going on then one begins to imagine why the Economist or whatever shit-name they're called are centered on rubbishing Nigerian army. Is it not UK that were chased out of Afghanistan by ragtag Taliban militants. And we didn't even hear anyone speak I'll of them rather the entire blame went to the US. The NA are still standing strong fighting the militants the UK ran away from. Please the Economist should shut up and focus on other important job. That is not excusing the NA. Our problem right now is not NA but Buhari.

So nobody likes our Army? Everybody jox de cast dem angry you ll never value wat u hv until U loose it
loose what ? Are the military not Terrorist sympathizers ? There have been a number of sabotage within the military and Thier weapon sold off to Terrorist. They know who the sponsors are but they would pay polictis with it .
They intentionally allow the herdmen to have a feed day in killing Innocent people and immediately moves in to protect Thier killers kinsmen .
They go to villages and flogg innocent indigenes that try to protect Thier lands from killer herdmen and allow the killers to have dominion over Thier victims farms to feed Thier cows.
They are no soldiers anymore but ethnic machine that are there to protect the course of the Fulani quest for conquest..
So, if I may ask you again , what do we have that we may regret if we loose it ? Are the soldiers loyal to the Nigerian people or the Fulanis ? We lost our soldiers after the Abacha regime and they still had a bit of Thier glory with Obasanjo regime .
Right now, what they are right now is nothing but political soldiers, who have allowed politicians and ethnic bigot to make a joke of Thier institution.
