Gurus,
Pls help guide. First time applicant.
Applied directly last month to 2 schools in Ontario (Guelph and Sheridan) for fall 2022 admission. I have received acknowledgement from both but nothing more is happening.

1. Is this delay the norm, thought I should have gotten request for upload of documents by now?
3. Should I pay an agent start afresh on another school? Any significant advantage in that?
2. I am applying for a 2-year dip in one of the schools. Can a 2-year dip programme reduce chances of obtaining student visa?

Barter rate is higher so you need more funds.

My understanding is that one can extend a 1 year study permit to 2 years, by pursuing another program. Thereafter, qualify for 3 years PGWP. Or has that changed? I mean the study permit extension part?

@PatrickOkunima....study permit extension is still very much on ground cos I have a friend that entered with a yr cert programme recently and when almost finishing she applied for another one yr and she is starting a new programme now...making her study permit to be 3 yrs...

Hi all,
Just wanted to chip in a few updates. When I was active on this thread around 2019-2020 I was always on the lookout for people who can give information from the other side. Having information about how things actually go on once within Canada helps with planning.

1. If possible, please apply for at least a 2 year program. I assume most people here are planning to get a work permit afterwards and from there get to apply for PR. It's not that easy. Getting a job after graduation is not so straightforward. And for a lot of provinces, you need to work for 1 year before you can apply for PR based on work experience or Canadian Experience Class. So if you graduate and it takes 3 - 6 months post graduation to get a job (best case scenario), your one year work permit would have expired before you can apply for P.R. Besides most employers don't like to employ people who do not have long-term work permits.

For those planning to travel soon

1. Nothing you buy in Nigeria can handle Canadian winter grin. Don't spend a fortune on 'winter clothes'. Just buy the little you will wear from the airport to your homes or for the first few days you land until friends and/or your hosts can help you buy appropriate clothes.

2. Please do not leave the airport without it being specifically written on your study permit that you are entitled to work part time (20 hours) during the term and full time in summer. No matter what the border officials say, insist on the endorsement. I made that mistake when I landed in June - she told me it doesn't matter and everybody knows that students can work. Turns out it's not true. You can't work without a SIN and no one will give you a SIN (Social Insurance Number) unless your student permit says you can work. I have been trying to get my student permit amended since June till now. No response. So please stand your ground at the border and insist.

Thank you

The rate is not consistent so you have to confirm but it's around 415. Total paid for the ticket was #338,241
What payment method is that ?

You can get a conditional admission letter with your unofficial transcript. However, to get the full admission letter, you need to upload your proof of graduation. If you have that already, I believe you should get your unconditional admission letter.

Ok. Thank u for d reply.

Hello AOROGBEM

Were these documents requested for by IRCC?

Or did you see it in your GCMS notes that the Visa Office is having issues with any of these documents?

Or have you been approved and you wanna send your LOA so that your Visa will have a favourable duration as regards your new LOA?

If your answer is NO to any of these questions, I won't advise you to send them any document they have not requested for, cos sending them these documents doesn't mean you will be approved...

But them requesting for these documents shows your application is on the route of approval...

Peace

I actually used an undergraduate admission letter to apply which is not related to my course, now I have been offered a master degree program related to my course..

tracking with VFS or DHL??

If its VFS, they should send you a tracking #, then you can enter it in

https://www.vfsglobal.ca/IRCC-GPTWave1/Track/Index?q=shSA0YnE4pLF9Xzwon/x/CQ1P0LBKn66dLdNUfueK+yzShCR5+RPxbigEFl/W14/B2caAAJ+pjEGG2r7ohd6rA==

If its DHL, just visit dhl site and go under tracking, then enter the code issued to you at DHLs office

If she used conditional letter to apply before and now she got her unconditional letter, she can send it through WEBFORM so when it's time to ask, they would have gotten it and pass that stage instead of waiting. That was what l did too

I'm not trying to doubt you or anything but I'm going to give you details of my own experience. My admission for Carlton was for fall 2021. Classes had resumed Sept 8th but still nothing from them. I had to defer to winter 2022 and Immediately I got my updated LOA and updated it. A week later I got a request to go for medicals.. I feel it depends tho.. I believe to always go with your instincts.

I didn't get that, come again..

You used an undergraduate LOA to apply for your Visa and now you have a Masters's degree LOA?

If I may ask, can you elaborate more on this? Maybe I didn't really understand you cos if its what I am thinking, you are about to shoot yourself in the Leg...

Waiting for your elaboration..

Hello Great people,

Please would it be necessary to seek for a sponsor if I have made my 1 year full tuition fees payment, have 10k in my CIG account for living expenses and also having a balance of 10k CAD in my SOA especially as the possible sponsor is my younger sister but does not about 10k CAD in her account?

If it is idea to use her, I will appreciate if you help me with the documents that would be required of her
