Imagine gate-crashing a wedding ceremony just to have a taste of our own very jollof. He must have missed it so badly. I can't imagine not eating my favorite food just because I'm trapped in another man's land.

It's also possible, He may have seen them while passing and quickly ran back home to wear the same color of jacket at least to gain entrance and not look odd.
