Does musa and Simon really deserve to be invited ahead of nwakaeme let alone Emmanuel dennis or awoniyi. Any coach that comprises selecting his best squad to satisfy a player

so this man recalled ighalo and left out a hot and inform awoniyi?

Lol
I'm sure Awoniyi will get the experience when he clock 28yrs
As it is now, Ighalo and only 2 other strikers will make it to world cup. You can't tell me you will use Odion qualify for WC and not take him there

Which of those guys pledging to play for Senegal rejected France's invitation?

France sees those colonized territories as part of itself (Assimilation), that's why they have a large pool of foreign-born to call on.
Also, the french league relies mostly on homegrown talent thus you have these players from Mali, Senegal, Ivory coast springing up every now and then in clubs like Metz, Reims, Brest, etc.
These players are able to develop and move to better leagues like England, Italy, and Spain

Unlike the English who sees their colonized territory as an independent nation.
The English league is one of the highest paying in the world, therefore most teams are able to buy professional players rather than allow homegrown talent to develop. The English, unlike France, lack a large pool of players to select from for the National team.

From my perspective, I do think we have done very well in getting our foreign-born to play for us if you look at the entire pool of those playing at the highest level.
If Southgate did not invite both Tomori and Abraham when he did, they would have played for us.
Also, Eze was willing to play for us but he was too young to get an invite then. He attended the SE invitational tournament in England before the 2014 world cup, I think. He changed his mind cos the former Crystal Palace coach assured him of an England call-up, and Southgate did invite him for the Euros if not for his injury.
If France gives those Senegalese guys an invite today do you think they will reject it? I think we have done well.
andrewbaba44:

Fabyom why is is easier for those French born Senegalese players to play for them than our English born players to play for us ?

The French team are full of Stars so they will opt to play for Senegal but the English teams also have stars but those our naija Born players will be finding it hard pledging their future to naija even the ones that knows their chances of making the English team is very slim

I understand that Rohr doesn't want to make any drastic changes to the team so as to not ruin cohesion, etc. However, Moses Simon, Musa and Omeruo have no business being there. I'm not really feeling Onuachu as well.

It seems like Rohr cannot wait to field the attacking trident of Simon-Ighalo-Musa, a.k.a the S.I.M.

I can't wait too.

Jokes apart, this attacking trio can bite.

Be careful what u wish.
Ejuke-Osimhen-Chukwueze is d real deal.
Even our ogogoro in house analysts will agree this over experience.

The biggest threat to our world cup hopes is the poor quality of Nigerian pitches

Rohr's plan may hurt Super Eagles at 2021 AFCON
Imo-owo
Shortly after Nigeria third-place finish at the 2019 African Nations Cup, striker Odion Ighalo announced his retirement from the national team. While this news did not go down well with his teeming fans, Ighalo, who came under heavy criticism after missing a glaring chance against Argentina that led to Nigeria’s ouster at the 2018 World Cup, said that the decision was made to concentrate on his club career and give the younger players the chance.

It’s been at least two years since Ighalo retired from international football and moved on to greater things including achieving a childhood dream of playing for Manchester United. In this time, Gernot Rohr successfully propelled the team forward, beyond Ighalo’s exit, handing the baton to the youthful Victor Osimhen who has responded commendably by indisputably making the Number 9 shirt his own.

In leaving the likes of Paul Onuachu and newcomers Terem Moffi and Taiwo Awoniyi in the wake of his ascension, Osimhen has been pushed to thrive for club and country, with the current season looking to be his best so far in Europe with 9 goals so far. On the home front, it might be early days yet, but Osimhen looks to be chasing after Rashidi Yekini’s record as the country’s all-time scorer scoring in every other game and now having 8 goals in 16 matches so far.

With these impressive performances, a bright future ahead and backup to support and challenge him, it becomes very senseless that coach Gernot Rohr would even give a second’s thought to the idea of recalling Odion Ighalo - the very man Osimhen has comfortably replaced - to the Super Eagles. Reports from various media outfits, including the EPSN have it that Rohr intends to bring back Ighalo ahead of the next round of World Cup qualifiers the November.

This could definitely ruin the Super Eagles on a number of counts. First, Osimhen is human and will be very displeased with such a move, even if he may never publicly admit it. The feeling will be the same for aspiring ones like Paul Onuachu and Taiwo Awoniyi. This will surely affect their output in the long term.

On a second count, Ighalo’s return will push the Paul Onuachu, Terem Moffi, Taiwo Awoniyi and other young strikers on the fringes of the team, further down the pecking order. This will not augur well for the team from a futuristic perspective as it will deprive these younger players of their chance to grow into and strengthen the team.

Ultimately, if Rohr chooses to go the route of recalling Ighalo, these events will lead to a disharmony within the Eagles’ fold as it is only natural that other players with closer alliances to the affected players will share in their displeasure. Of course Odion Ighalo probably still commands the respect and admiration of his former international teammates; however, the human element is inevitable in situations like this, and if improperly managed could actually ruin the good work Rohr has done so far with the team just at the verge of the upcoming African Cup of Nations.

So from if Ighalo isn't invited we won't qualify to bad pitches?

So you didn't know there are bad pitches before now or just like Rohr you've started creating your own excuses?

Kanu real show for naija was Under 17 and Atlanta 96 and irrespective of the stat he had good football career, playing for Ajax,Inter Milan and Arsenal but Super eagles career, not too impressive.

Five Afcon and three WC no goal but one thing remain here he won Africa footballer of the year twice due to his exploit at Atlanta 96 and Arsenal.

I pray Ighalo plays this time around. Two things can happen, either he shames people like me or confirms what people like me believe. Though I don't subscribe to all the vile and venom poured out against him after our world cup exit, if he underperforms, those threats and curses would be child's play compared to what he has suffered before. We don't have a choice but to support the SE, all the best to the SE of Nigeria.

Sure. Maybe bite burgers and chin chin. If you mean defenses though, then we are finished in Nigerian football.

Also, why is Bassey not on the list? Let’s not have another Alaba scenario on our hands here.

Rohr will start our match with Moses Simon and Ahmed Musa and if iwobi gets injured he will use iheanacho as our creative midfielder.
Liberia and those Small teams will fustrate him and we might draw or win by luck.
Our coach is our greatest problem

For me, I kinda want Ighalo to politely turn down the invite or give an excuse not to show up
He's never been a fan favorite, and if things go wrong, he will be terribly insulted
Man has paid his dues, though I don't mind having him come from the bench, but Nigerian fans have not been fair to him
For that reason, I hope he politely declines
