Wow... 1 naira notes... Nostalgic.!

Ten kobo that was later changed to brown and the size reduced to 5kobo.

Then 1naira changed into those heavy coins. That thing can weigh down mens pockets?? We Used to shake daddy's breast pocket for coins those days.

My first school money was 5kobo. Very tiny dull coin.

Here's 50 kobo. Big girls money then. My elder sis used to shakor with this note.

It's good you have felt a fraction of what your grandfather passed through at the hands of that entitled grandma of yours who believes her husband's money is theirs and her's is for her alone.

I wouldn't be surprised if your grandfather borrowed money from Isusu groups when his wife had such cash in her mini billion van
I want to believe you're being sarcastic.

So today I was poking around in my family old stuffs when I stumbled on my grandma's wooden box. I opened it I found a lot of interesting stuffs inside. There's this small bag that contains old Nigerian currency, both note and coins. It pained me somehow because thats a cool cash back in the days.

When Nigeria was good

That's why saving money in piggy bank or boxes is useless. Once the paper is redesigned, the value of the money returns to zero. The true value of money is in the bank, those numbers.
You are wrong sir. A federal bank does not just wake up to redesign notes. Wasn't it so recent we moved to polymer and nobody suffered any loss. Those old notes gradually phase out on it's own.

Such a disrespectful comment to make about her. Did his grandpa appear to you to complain about his grandma? I don't know why people talk carelessly. You call her entitled when you know absolutely nothing about her.
You owe it to him to apologise.

I personally swallowed 1kobo Coin as a child when I was about 2 years old. I was taken to the hospital and given some medicines that helped me pass it out through the anus. 1 kobo coin then (Copper coin) was bigger in size than this recent 50k coin.
So I believe him.

To think that a thousand naira can barely buy what this one naira could buy in those days is deeply depressing. Our currency has become one of the most useless tissue paper currencies we have in Africa today. In a few years from now, a litre of fuel will be selling at 1000naira.

Good old days indeed..

Today that 1 naira note is equivalent to 1000 naira note of today while those 10k coins are like today's 100 naira notes.

Back then , naira had value.
