Hence the reason why commonsense is to ask her questions rather than assume I have her situation figured out. undecided

so taking care of two children and the home is not enough job or it is because she is not paid for it? Like what point are u trying to make?
For the umpteenth time, when it comes to your own family, there is is such thing as "enough job". OK. undecided

Not everything is an "us vs them" fight. Let commonsense always be the guide instead. undecided

Please how can I manage 4k for a week? I have 2 kids, one is in primary 3, the other one is in nursery and they go to school each day. Will it be possible?
Please mothers on nairaland, how will you stretch it for 7 days especially when there's no foodstuff in the house.

The bolded is the MO of kobojunkie and default setting. He obviously lives in an ideal setting where things work out without much ado.

Kobojunkie it's not easy for everyone to get a job easily or start a business with the snap of a finger. She lost her job just two months ago, and the govt will not support till she gets a new job. It doesn't work that way in Nigeria.
What in the world are you still on about? undecided

I don't know the employment status of everyone in Nigeria so the next best thing is to ask those I feel to ask. Common sense! undecided

Yes, you did.
Your comment was more of being too forward/interrogative/judgmental than asking a question out of genuine concern.

"Do you have a source of income/job?" Would've been more appropriate.
Again, my question did not such. I asked a question and I got an answer... the end. undecided

Ur reply was top notch nd matured. Sometimes, u females don't knw what men go through to make money. Every man's happiness is dependent on d happiness of his children nd wife( if d wife is a beta one). The OP Has plans of shaming her husband with replies 4rm dis post. But she 4got to tell us what d husband does 4 a living, despite d fact dat shes not even workin to contribute a kobo. A wise woman is meant to protect nd cover d interest of d family nd not to shame d family. Thank God d man brought 4k, u cn simply go into prostituition to top up d money. Useless wife. You're a man and I presume you're married too. You of all people should know women don't always tell the whole story, atleast not the part of the story that faults them! Passing judgement on a one sided account is unwise. Do you even know why the husband doubts her? You don't but you have assumed she's telling the full story and therefore the husband must be a heartless man.
I don't know about u but sincerely no matter how insincere a woman is with her spending and no matter how much u earn as a man, 4k for a family of 4 in one week without other food stuff to support. Haba bro. If na ur sister u go talk like this. And how did u come to conclude women lie.

Where kids are involved? undecided

There is no such thing. I will suggest both of them call family members for help, sell at least one kidney if they have to, and maybe start a home garden on the side... there needs to be all hands on deck to ensure those kids are taken care of abeg! undecided

My point exactly! The 4k part may not be completely true. It is completely ridiculous, unless they already have foodstuffs at home. She didn't say if they have stocks of rice, garri etc at home. Even one child can't survive on 4k for the week. That should make any logically thinking person doubt this entire story. Even if my sister comes crying to me with a story I will try to know what actually happened because unlike men, tears come easily to women. They cry when telling the truth and also cry when lying.

Avoid buying food outside. Buy half congo of rice and a congo of beans and Garri and pepper of 400 (it may last you for a week).

Then pray for your husband fro Devine blessing to help the family financially, and spiritually.
Continue to pray and fast for him. In next few months everyi will be between than it is.

4k is small, but if you try my advice below it might help to an extent in saving cost.
1) prepare a big pot of concoction rice that can last for up to a week, and put it in d fridge, the kids can eat this for breakfast , while u buy fresh vegetables to accompany the meal .
2) also prepare a big pot of poridge beans for the week and put in different freezer. The kids can take a mixture of some beans and rice to school.A little quantity.
3) Make sure u also prepare a pot of soup and put in d freezer, preferably ogbono or egusi.divide d soup into 2 major portions .One portion can contain a particular vegetable, while the second portion can then contain another set of vegetables. The kids can eat this when they are back from school around 5.30pm, (you can give them a little snacks when they come back from school, around 4pm).
Use egg in place of meat.I believe the above can be of help.

If you try explain things to him and he doesn't want to reason with you, biko just let him do the buying, make list and ask him to help you buy. Who buying help these days during this regime
Unless he doesn't have the money at all, then you're left with no option than to cut your coat according to your material or you can add to it

People seem not to get the main issue

Her husband thinks she is lying that 4k can't be enough for the week. Even if he doesn't have that doesn't mean he should be in denial that 4k can't last a family of four ( without foodstuffs at home) for one week.

If you don't have , its understandable but don't make the woman look stupid like she doesn't know how to manage or something.

He should buy the foodstuffs himself with the 4k for one week if he thinks she's lying. If its only adults they can drink garri and water but little children is another ball game entirely oo

Only Half crate of egg is 900 protein for children, let's say quarter 450 naira.

As usual NL boys have started insulting the woman.

What kind of timetable is that? I planned on buying irish potato to fry for snacks but just a bottle of groundnut oil will finish the money.
Please I'll be happy if you can also draw a timetable for me
I will show my husband this thread so he can see what everyone thinks of the amount he gives me.

Please just write down the things you need in that house, give to him,
Give it to him , and beg him to help you get them on his way back .
God bless your home.
