Thank you so much

I will advice you not to withdraw the admission, if only you can explain the reason you choose to study diploma you are good to go..
Before I joined Nairaland I have secured admission a Diploma program so when I saw some comments on study progression I was scared I maybe denied Visa because I have Bachelor of Engineering and I got admission to study Power Engineering Diploma.
But finally I was granted visa..

If you are sure u can secure another admission so fast, you can go ahead with getting admission, but if I were in your shoes I would chanel my energy on SOP.
The funny thing is that I didn't explain much on my SOP, because it was just 1 page... meaning it was just front page and less than half back page, and my friend was like I should have written it up to 4 pages and I told him I don't know what else to write because then I have not started visiting this forum..

Hello everyone!

Please I’m in the process of making payment for my GIC and I went to Zenith bank with the downloaded instructions. But the teller is asking me to confirm which one is my account name, account number and Swift code of the Canadian bank I’m sending the money to.

Please can anyone who has done the GIC process confirm which details they used in making payment at their Nigerian ??

I’m really confused because I thought the bank was supposed to know what to do?!

Pls help @Lovesarrow
I know you’ve done this process before.

My timeline. 2nd time applicant. Did not use an agent for both applications.
First of all, all glory to God. I'm still in shock.

Level of study: PhD, fully funded.

First application submitted April 26th 2021
Rejected: August 18th 2021. I wept like a baby.
Reason for rejection:
1. That I do not have the sufficient funds to pay for tuition fee without working in Canada.
2. That I do not have sufficient funds to cater for myself and accompanying family member without working in Canada

Note: I did not indicate that I will be going with any family member. Also, my tuition is fully funded and with a monthly stipend which is even above the IRCC recommended $10000.

I was depressed, cried my eyes out. But had to forge on the next day.
I informed my PhD supervisor. He lifted my spirit and encouraged me not to give up. He also said he will provide a note to support my reapplication.

I deferred my admission from Sept 2021 to January 2022. A new letter of acceptance and updated funding letters were provided from the Uni and supervisor.

2nd application
Submitted: September 30th 2021.
Applied for GCMS note: 3rd November 2021.
Upfront medical: done for my first application in July 2021.
Eligibility review: started 4th November 2021, PPR came 30 mins after.
PPR: November 4th 2021.

Documents submitted
New letter of admission
Funding letter
Letter of support from my PhD supervisor assuring the visa officer that funds will be available for my tuition and living expenses.
My personal MBS of less than 100k naira.
Waec certificate, Undergraduate and MSc certificates as well as transcripts.
Letter of explanation (4 pages).
Statement of purpose (6 pages).
Awards for best graduating student for BSc and MSc.
CV showing my journal publications and conference publications. I also attached a link to my Google Scholar profile.
Passport showing my travel history. I did my MSc abroad.
IELTS result.
Proof of COVID vaccination.
For proof of home ties I explained the value of my degree to Nigeria. I'm an orphan so I do not have much family ties. So I emphasized more on the value of the course to Nigeria and job prospects.

My letter of explanation
In my 4-page letter of explanation, I thanked the visa officer for the opportunity for a reapplication. I then wrote out each of the previous refusal reason and explained myself.
For tuition, I explained to the VO that PhD tuition in my uni is always paid via scholarship and in fact you have to secure a supervisor who will agree to fund you for the entire 4 years before you even apply for admission. I then called the attention of the VO to my funding letter as well as letter of support from my supervisor.
For living expenses, I wrote that after deduction my tuition fee from the entire funding amount, what is left is even more than the $10000 per year which is recommended by IRCC.
I ended my letter of explanation by pleading with the VO to grant me this privilege of approval as my only chance of getting a PhD is through funding. And in truth I only had 75k naira in MBS account.

In all, I am so grateful to God for this approval. My application was not perfect. I only had 75k naira in my MBS. No home ties as an orphan.
The first refusal broke me to pieces. It is really not easy to experience a refusal. Indeed, I am so grateful to God. I also appreciate everyone here on this platform who I learnt from their timelines and invaluable information.

Congratulations to those recently approved. Ketima, Atite, Jay316, the ever present Lianna2020, Viviangos, Calcrete etc.
Also sending my best wishes to all those awaiting this good news: Teemenzo, Tinakem, Chris, Mummy4life, Rolly4, etc.
Also not forgetting those who are reapplying again: Emeenaka, Oreoluwamipo etc and those awaiting positive outcome from JR such as Rolly4.

Thank you so much everyone.

There is a general delay from ATIP as regards the delivery od GCMS notes..

So no matter the agency you use, the delay applies to everyone..

That is why anytime you apply for GCMS notes, you get this message "We are experiencing delays from ATIP "

When it comes to anything IRCC , delay is xpected.. So you all will need a lot of patience...

Peace

All these third party sites and their delays.. Most times they dont send reminders to IRCC once your notes are due.. I regularly send once notes are due and that forces IRCC to release them. i received three persons i applied for in sept and one for October yesterday.

Mind you i used Atip(IRCC directly) and not gcmsnotes.com

Sorry about that.
It’s just a Delay.

No point rushing, Order your GCMS note first to tackle concerns accurately…

Febs:
I have been following this thread.
My visa application just got refused based on personal assets and financial status after almost 5 months of wait
I would appreciate advice on what to do differently as I plan to reapply immediately
Thanks
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by makano: 3:57pm On Nov 04, 2021
Hello Febs

Sorry for the refusal, its not actually over until you win..

But my honest advise, you do not have to re-apply immediately..

Calm yourself, get your GCMS notes, see the concerns of the Visa Officer in the GCMS notes, strategize on how you can tackle the concerns of the VO, take actions and provide documents to back your claims...

Convince the Visa Officer that indeed you have seen where you went wrong (quoting the concerns of the Visa officer in your GCMS notes) in your last refused application, and show proofs that indeed you have been able to address the concerns of the Visa Officer (Back this up with the appropriate documents) , and see how you will get your Visa in your re-application..

So do not rush to re-apply, so you wont keep rushing to re-apply until you get frustrated..

It takes Patience, a calculative and strategical approach when it comes to dealing with IRCC..

Peace

Lufthansa allowed my family to travel.
We were not vaccinated.
viviangogos:
Yes KLM is actually cheaper but I am not vaccinated as some of the airlines do not allow non vaccinated flyers. I wish someone that travelled recently can confirm this. My person from Wakanow said it is Ethiopian and Turkish that are flexible with that rule( I am still trying to confirm this though but he sounded so sure about it) however Ethiopian is out of the picture now cause of the chaos at Addis Ababa hence I am left with Turkish. That one on the other hand require you must buy return ticket to get on board irrespective of visa type... well ticket has to be booked..
Thanks for your suggestion.

Dear Omiinii,

That story is so complicated if you read it all over again.
I doubt if the passport request as the agent claimed to them was real.

Over 2 months with nothing yet.
And He’s requesting a refund of tuition fee for them again ?

Main reason I asked the guy to get the right info to share as the story is so complicated.
Agent is hiding something.

Dear Honorable Makano,

I received the same email on delay from ATIP.
What I did differently was raising a webform, I’ve forgotten the topic used there, but I found something so related on the category.

I urged them to release my GCMS note to the 3rd party on my behalf as I need to tackle the reasons for my refusal.
I woke up the next morning with my

I guess everyone encountering this delay should try same.

Hello Bankky

Is your agent from this forum? Cos I doubt if agents outside this forum can give a truthful and factual advise as this..

All what your agent said is the truth, any sponsor outside your Parents, Wife, Hubby, siblings are considered 3rd PARTY sponsors, which is your case.. For a Visa officer to be convinced with a 3rd Party sponsor application, the said sponsor must show total commitment to you the applicants as regards your studies in Canada.. He/she must pay your full school fees and also send your welfare allowance for the duration of your study to your Bank account.... All thi must be stated in his Letter of sponsorship and also make sure you work on convincing the Visa Officer of your close relationship with the said sponsor...

Peace
Bankkydarry:
Good morning dear nairalanders. For proof of funds I got a family member who wanted to sponsor me but the agent told me it is better the money is transferred into my bank Account, which I don't think the person in question can do. He said family member sponsoring me might Lower my chances of getting a Visa. He said it is better i have the money in my Bank Account or that of my parents. Please how true is this? I look forward to your opinions.

makano:
There is a general delay from ATIP as regards the delivery od GCMS notes..

So no matter the agency you use, the delay applies to everyone..

That is why anytime you apply for GCMS notes, you get this message "We are experiencing delays from ATIP "

When it comes to anything IRCC , delay is xpected.. So you all will need a lot of patience...

Peace
thanks at makano I really needed to hear this thought I made a mistake.
