Like I always say here, believe anything said by that wannabe Britico at your own peril. So e never even reach one week wey Lukman officially accepted to play for Nigeria, but that Komekn guy has been here feeding the gullible ones in here with lies since last year!!

England Under 20 World Cup Hero Set To Switch Allegiance To Nigeria, After Turning Down Three Official Approaches From Them

Tom Fenton

England youth standout Ademola Lookman is hoping to switch his international allegiance to Nigeria, as prospects of an England call-up diminishes.

The Leicester City youngster, who previously played for the likes of Charlton, Everton and RB Leipzig, was born in the UK, but he is eligible to play for Nigeria on account of his parents.

Lookman represented England at U19, U20 and U21 level, with the undisputed highlight of his time in the junior ranks being 2017's U-20 World Cup triumph.

The 24-year-old starred in the tournament alongside the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Fikayo Tomori, netting three goals en-route to the final.

Things have been more turbulent at club level since then, although the 20/21 campaign was something of a breakthrough for Lookman, as he made 34 Premier League appearances for Fulham in their ultimately fateful attempt to avoid relegation.

However, that campaign was enough to convince Leicester City to take a chance on the pacey winger, who has already scored twice for his new club this season.

With Gareth Southgate currently spoilt for choice when it comes to high-qualify wingers and forwards, even if Lookman does continue to impress under Brendan Rodgers, a call-up to England's senior squad is still highly unlikely.

Just yesterday we saw the likes of Jadon Sancho, Emile Smith-Rowe and Mason Greenwood all missing out on his latest 23-man World Cup qualifier squad, which once again highlights the depth England have in attack.

Previously, the wide-man turned down three official approaches from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to represent the African nation instead.

Speaking in 2020, Lookman stated: "I've not changed my mind [on wanting to represent England] but I'm open, and it's good to have different opportunities."

One year on, the player appears to have had a change of heart. BBC Sport reports that Lookman has officially began the process to switch allegiances to Nigeria, where opportunities to play regular international football will be more readily available.

It could turn out to be a lengthy process, as Lookman's appearances for England's junior sides complicate matters somewhat - meaning he will have to wait a bit longer to make his debut for the Super Eagles.

NFF chief scout Tunde Adelakun told the BBC: "We are aware of Lookman's desire to play for us and I have spoken to him as well. However, there is a process to it."

"After this process, then comes the consideration and decision of the head coach [Rohr] on whether or when he deems it fit to get him involved."

just heard chelsea odoi turned down an england call up, insisting on playing for ghana

good one from pikin wey get sense

The bolded is way off the mark. Odoi is still committed to the English course, but he feels he has grown bigger than the youth stage(U21) where he gets called up instead of the main team. By the way, this is about the 3rd time he is turning down a call up from the U21 team.

Henceforth, Lukman's case should be a bench mark or reference point to how long it actually takes to clear a player from England to play for Nigeria. Let's say he made the official application for change of allegiance last week, if he becomes available for our AFCON squad in January, then, all what we have been reading about clearing players from England being a difficult lengthy task has been hoax.

It is to Nigerias disadvantge we are not using him.
We can win an afcon with his mecurial talents
What is it about playing in Turkey and club ratings
Home grown African talents are not well advertised
playing in a good league is just a product of the agent you have.
We need him badly but we are too blind to see that.
I dont really understand us.
He can create assists and score goals for us if we bring him into the team
He is in monster form.
These European players we venerate are overrated.
In fact, in some cases except you are in a top team like real madrid, man u etc
a very good player in the turkish or belgian league might be better than you.
Being born in Africa puts one at a disadvantage.

it has always been hoax, from the beginning, that's why I defend the Nff and Pinnick on it,

a player had to start the process him/herself, then brought the concerned Fa along,

take the case of our girls, Plumptre and Roosa Ariyo you go understand well

The whole thing became clearer after Ashleigh Plumptree clearance from England to Nigeria was processed in a few months...

I really wonder what Komekn agenda here is.

I had to do a reflection on the game between Manchester United and Manchester City.

It was a total annihilation in performance but if you look at the score, 2-0, it creates a different picture of the match. I mean, this was a game Manchester City had nine corners, while Manchester United had only one corner. Manchester City dominated possession and shots. Controlled the game at a high level but the score will not show this.

It is the same when you consider a progress of a team. If you look at results, you will miss the picture if the team is growing or not.

Over the years, Manchester United and Ole Solksjaer have used results to cover the truth. The team is not growing in play. Today, it was so exposed badly.

If the team is not improving their play on and off the pitch, with time the team will not grow.

That is why I do not celebrate results of Rhor, whether qualifying or reaching semi finals of tournaments. The question is, are we playing better? If not, we are not growing as a team.

When I was younger, people used to say, "people do not ask who played better but who won the game." I always disagreed with the notion. Today with the understanding of growth of a team with respect to game play and tactical development, it is more important to ask which team played better than who won.

Playing better shows growth. With time, the team gets good results.

FINITO.
