My mother did DNA with my brother. St. Nicholas sent her copy to the consulate (2008/2009). Then it took about 2-3months before the DNA from USA arrived. We just received letter from the Consulate to that effect. That is my only explanation.
Nonexisting1:
My cousin's mother's interview was denied and they were asked to do DNA testing. He told me he has done his own there in Houston Texas but his mother is yet to be called for her own sample collecting in Lagos embassy. What will be their next step and how long are they looking at for the whole process? I have been taking the poor woman to and fro Lagos for the process but now, I am about to travel out myself so I'm trying to help as much more as I can until I leave. Please give me as much info as you can.

Okay so it will take the embassy 2-3 months to write her to come for her own sample collection here in Nigeria. After that, what else will she expect? Will she be scheduled for another visa interview since the other one was denied because she didn't do the DNA or will she be asked to drop her passport on the day of DNA sample collection? Please if you can tell me the steps and estimation of how long it took your mother to get the visa from the day you received the letter, I will appreciate it. I'm only conversant with European countries, USA visa process is alien to me. This poor old woman can't help herself and the person I'm leaving her for is almost an illiterate. My cousin will be helpless as soon as I leave this country and I can't stay back because of this. I owe him a lot which is why I'm trying to get things in shape for my other cousin that will take over.

But the visa bulletin was moving during his time until COVID . I thought Biden was good but he’s main focus is now on the illegal migrants .

This is silly, and untrue. Also, why should Biden care about you? you're not a US citizen or permanent resident.

Hi all. Great submissions all through, learnt alot. Glad I found this forum. Like many others, I'm also on this journey that has become such a long tumultuous process of waiting, hoping and praying. My pd is June 2015, DQ May 2021, awaiting interview letter. Having read through almost all pages on this forum, I have a question or should I say a small worry concerning my case or perhaps I'm just being paranoid. My category is F1, but about 3 -4 years ago , I applied for non immigrant visiting visa which was denied but in that application, I filled married, cause I was engaged then and thought I was going to get married, which didn't happen, which makes me single up till today. Now my question to the experts in the house is, now that I'm awaiting my interview letter for my immigrant visa, if that comes through hopefully soon, will I be asked about the change of my marital status at the embassy because of what I filled in my visiting visa application form years ago, or will they just go by what's filled in my ds260 which indicates single? This is my question. Looking forward to your replies. Thank you in advance!

Let me cut to the chase. You will be denied at your interview. You basically lied in order to obtain an immigration benefit... they will ask you why you are single and if you cannot produce a valid divorce decree, you're basically toast.

Surely it will come up on your interview. is not too late to get your Divorce certificate. you Applied as Married then and now you are applying as single. the only thing that Proof that is a Divorce Certificate. in my case i Paid the Bride price but no court paper or any legal documents that shows we are married. but Embassy Recognized Pride price as a legal marriage. when the whole thing did not work out i went to Magistrate Court to obtained a Divorce certificate not fake and not back door. while on visit in USA i met my new wife and we got married here in USA. and after marriage i went back to my Base. and she filed for me..... i visited US 4 times and each visit i spend 3 weeks, i just relocated this year February...........but the Interveners in Nigeria will scrutinize your Document for sure. they always look for mistake....but if you are applying from a first world country then no issues

They are not always looking for mistakes, they are looking for cases of deliberate misrepresentation, such as is the case you are responding to. This is endemic with us... we cannot be trusted to tell the truth, largely because we have a country where obtaining fraudulent documents is easy because of our poor record keeping. In first world countries, records can be easily verified so it is harder to lie. That is why it is easier for them.

Everyone is asking her to go get a divorce decree, but at no point did she tell us she was ever dating, engaged or married to anyone. So exactly who is she getting a divorce from? It is most likely she put "married" because she thought she could use that to show "home ties". There is a lot she is leaving out of her story... for example, what happened at her non-immigrant visa interview? Was she asked about her marriage? How did she answer? All these are in her records... just getting a clearly false divorce decree wont solve her problem.

Your cousin will do his own DNA and send to the consulate from America obviously quoting the case number. Then his mum will do her own dna at approved clinic here too, the clinic will forward to the consulate. After, you will receive a confirmation letter from the consulate that they have received the results and scheduling her for another interview. I just finished reading that old letter. If possible I can post it.

I guess you missed the part where I stated that I was engaged. I wasn't single, I was going to be married. There are no options made for people that are engaged, in my head, I thought okay since I'm going to be married in a few months why not just fill it in as married. It was an honest mistake. No need for you to crucify me. You can give your opinions without casting aspersions on my person. My ds260 form has always carried my status as single from the on set and this is exactly what I will say at the embassy. The marriage never went through and I'm still single. Whatever their decision is then, so be it.

About what happened with my non immigrant visa interview, I was denied, no questions about my marital status asked, no document collected or looked at, they just checked and saw that I had a immigrant visa case in process and was told to wait for that.

Don't Mind TWoods........get a valid Divorce certificate you will be fine........he was probably denied US visa multiple times and is bringing the anger on you.........@TWoods: Direct your anger to the Consular officer that denied your visa.

Does anyone have an idea if immigrant visa interviews are being conducted? The monthly bulletins shows no movement at all. Could it be that they aren’t just updating it but numbers are dropping in their system? Just thinking out loud!

Good day all.
Just to give a quick update I landed Washington DC over the weekend.
Glory to God.

For those that are here ahead, please i have a question. Do I need a green card to apply for my SSN or just the temporary Immigrant Visa will do?

If you ticked the ssn section in your ds260 form, it is either you wait to receive your SSN card at your address within two weeks, and if your body dey hot, call the nearest SSN office to you and book appointment. The visa in your passport is a one year temporary greencard.

Is it that people are not getting interview in family based category again. Everything seems standstill. I heard the visa bulletin is not expected to move till June 2022, cos they want to clear backlog. Still no interviews
