Just like others, the goal for some of us, is to use that route to relocate legally so we don't make mistakes of choosing a university that isn't licensed to sponsor the PSV. I don't think you can start a new application....just leave it that way if they need clarification they may call you....when they call just tell them it was a mistake...so be close to your phone...or if it's possible send them a mail...now this should serve as a deterrent to you....from this point till you arrive in the UK and living in the UK you will fill one form or the other eg. National insurance, application forms, passenger locator form , bank opening application etc...when filling forms be very careful because an oversight can cost weeks/months of delay...take note.

You're playing with fire, looks like you have so much money to waste on visa fees and others. If you know what's good for you, since there is enough POF for the entire family, apply together at once. Most folks that have been residing in the UK for a long time including that your sister giving you bad advice are not up to date with current visa rules and home office regulations which keep changing.

Age should never be a barrier. I have never seen any student visa denied because the applicant is old (Note: I heard Canada considers the age and study gap, but the UK doesn't). As long as you get admitted to a university, you are free to apply for a visa. But note that if you study at the undergraduate level, you will not be able to bring your dependents. The first thing you need to do is to decide which course you want to do. Since you are in the business line already, a business management course might be the best for you and that will strengthen your personal statement for admission. Secondly, search for a university (Apply to many schools, to maximize your chances) and accept the best offers. Don't forget that a degree might take you 4 years, therefore you need time and money.

By current calculations, my POF is about less than 11m. My school's deposit is 1k and I paid 4500 instead.
