Emuforlife1: See the way you dey talk like who drink emu. Even Uk citizens trained in UK are moving in numbers to places like Canada, US and Australia to practice with their own dope medical system. Who is Nigeria? With una shitty health system. Talmbout free, if you cannot afford to japa, leave people that can do it for the sake of their family 2 Likes |

Seankhalifa: Housejob is what? National youth service is what? Guy lock up. These people will never do what they are supposed to do. When it’s time to be held accountable they’ll make provocative statements like this to put people that are on the receiving end of their ineptitude against each other. That is how they refused to give Resident Doctors their entitlements causing them to go on strike. Then they now made it seem like Drs are heartless as the strike was ongoing. Let me ask this yes or no question. Would Drs have gone on strike if they were treated fairly? The day we refuse to play the Squid Games they are using bus to play, maybe things might be different. |

Ngige you talk with both mouth. You once said you doesn't need them. Now the same people you doesn't need you want to restrict them from travelling over sea for a greener pasture. You claimed you trained them free. How much are you paying as a salary to start with. Nigeria paid the least salary to medical doctors. You should bury your face in shame. Our presidency and the family don't even value our doctors. The entire family hires the service of medical doctors abroad. Honestly Nigeria is a fraud. Our leaders should lead by example. Ngige do the needful then you can retain our doctors. |

I agree but there are caveats: - Medical education is not "free" in Nigeria. Just because it is much cheaper than abroad does not mean it is free. Even (some) state schools charge millions per year for medicine. IT is usually the most expensive program. - Doctors who go abroad are a HUGE source of remittances, the 2nd biggest form of currency inflows to Nigeria after oil. - If the country was smart, they would train as many doctors as possible, seek partnerships with foreign countries or states/provinces to make it EASY for our doctors to be hired abroad. Why can't our doctors walk straight into practice in say Canada? - Mandate a 5-year service period for all doctors in exchange for 50% tuition grant. Pay those doctors N250k minimum a month. - Try to get some doctors who have specialized abroad to come back periodically for seminars, secondments, etc. lalasticlala: 1 Like |

alphaNomega: Oboy eee! Dem plenty. Nigerians are fantastically corrupt. If you know how hard it is for those earning over N1m to pay security guard or house maid more than N30k monthly salary. That is a robust topic itself. As for my discipline, all are in Engineering. I will withhold information on my institutions. 1 Like 1 Share |

jydeskill1: That's why we have a low minimum wage Because our cost of education is very low The truth is Nigerians wants everything cheap but they don't wanna face the consequences And that is the tool politicians use to siphon money The work we do here as graduates are mostly done by school leavers abroad. School teachers, bank cashiers uber drivers receptionist, marketers B4 you can get a reasonable job here you need to have your masters or doctorate degree which doesn't come cheap |

Spherical77: Many of you lack critical skills. Do you think Nigeria is a wealthy country using any index known to man? Nigeria is poor. Get that through your skull. We produce absolutely nothing combined with an exploding population comprising mostly of the youth. How much do you think the country makes that you think you deserve more? |

AJOBI77: You don’t understand . They need specialists that will keep them alive long enough to reach foreign lands for medical tourism . Imagine they are sick and they can’t get someone to stabilize them before the air ambulance takes them abroad . Na sure death be that . That’s why most of them are shouting about doctors/nurses . It isn’t about patriotism . It’s about their own survival |

Commentor:Having said all these, where is the high 33k meagre stipend you referring to? Why referring 33k as such? Oh! Was it because Nigeria is a poor country, this makes those getting 33k monthly a high income earners or what? What makes your government officials earning even far more than those of the developed world despite being a poor country with hungry citizens? What makes your government officials trooping to those developed countries with very exorbitant fee for medical tourism? What makes your government with very little or no education having a flaboyance lifestyles, while the masses with quality education can't even have a 3 square meal daily? Where are your government officials getting all those money from, despite being in a poor country with poverty sticken citizens? Who knows you may have reasons why they eat fat on the masses |

[s] Spherical77:[/s] Write with sense. Corruption is a big problem across the nation and the leaders are not exempt. That doesn't change the fact that Nigeria is poor largely because the citizens are highly unproductive. |

If you're comparing the school fees between Doctors trained here and over there and conclude that we're being trained for free.. Then also compare the salaries over there and here and conclude that we also work without getting paid too. |
