From the comments I read, VIO in lagos is doing very good job.

It shows that nigeria can be better country.

They have no business on the roads. They will be better at what they do if they deploy technology.

Cracked rear or front lights

Cracked windshield

Not having a hackney permit if it's a car on Uber (even though your plates are Blue coloured)

The list is endless
[/quote

Which one is Hackney permit . Since vio have been stopping me in lagos. The only asked after my drivers license..
Nothing more .. no private cars except those for commercial activity require Hackney..I have been driving for 12 years in lagos

Nigerians are used to not obeying laws and bribing, hence the reason they are complaining.
fix the roads and fix things that lead people into the temptation of breaking the law. Nigeria law enforcers pray that you default. They hate it when you keep the law. This is not what is obtainable in other climes

You see VIO and FRSC, na twins dem be. Dem no dey carry gun but Nigerian drivers fear them more than all the security agencies in Nigeria herself.

They are very mean, they don't respect age, they don't have pity for a woman in labour or someone in critical condition. They don't care, what they're after is to dig a very large pothole in your pocket that has already made sinkhole in it before.

They are the devil we see with our koro-koro eyes.

If you're a VIO or FRSC personnel reading this, always have it in mind that HEAVEN IS FAR FROM YOU.
simple solution dont break the law

It's good to know they are doing their job, but the question is are they not going out of the way, or beyond what they are meant to do, with the way people commented about them above, you can imagine their high handedness especially when you factor in the Nigerian angle.

NarcissistKing:

Nigerians are used to not obeying laws and bribing, hence the reason they are complaining.

It's obvious that the average Nigerians are not law-abiding, corrupt and incompetent, when they are faced with a competent system such as the VIO their first approach is to complain, then pay bribes and if that doesn't work destroy the system. In the Western world, you must have your MOT, road tax, car insurance and roadworthy car before you drive on the roads that are funded by the taxpayer.

But u see FRSC, they are the worst even worst than 9ja police. FRSC personnel find joy in wasting ur time with unnecessary questions even with ur seat belt buckled..valid license, fire extinguisher....one Mf even asked me for first aid kit. I always feel like hitting them on d road, but my conscience will never allow me

Put your car and particulars in order and you will not fear them again. In this country we love cutting corners and openly breaking the laws.

So they are actually doing a good job right?

Pray not to encounter them. Even after a year, you will be feeling very violated and angry. Whenever you remember it, you would fight back tears. No jokes.

Some people deserve it because Lagosians are very stubborn. They drive oneway and disregard traffic lights.

But what of their attitude of setting trap for people? Removing one way and no U-turn signs. They have even advanced to buying traveling boxes and standing where drivers can’t stop to book Uber rides. Any driver that makes the mistake of stopping there to pick them ehn…grin
Hmm really na that day I go tell them say I be omo Mushin

That was why former Governor Ambode kicked them out then but was brought back by Governor Sanwo- Olu and you wander why and what have been their achivements since they have been estorting money from the Populace.
If your vehicle pass through Ikorodu, they caused unnecessary disruption on the road, especially around the garage and Ota- Ona. They should be discarded!

The major reason why people fear Dem most is because there offences are capital offences so you can't denied or argue with Dem.

If your papers are complete, and other necessary stuff required by law to operate a car is complete and up-to-date, then you have no problem with VIO.
From comments here, I believe if all law enforcement agencies do what VIO is doing, 9ja go better small.

Vio guys always boast that they can find any infraction in even new vehicles. If VIO want to get you, they would look for any offence.
The truth is that vios are not supposed to be on the road checking papers. If they are on road for vehicle inspection, their job is look for vehicles for visible infractions not to check papers randomly.
We don't actually need frsc and vio on the roads for checking papers . MTD of police has mandate to check vehicle papers. Vio and frsc should do their works in offices of issuing papers and driver licence.
Vio are so mean because they derive their powers from state governor. They are violent and use agbero styles to extort. Fines are not reasonable.

Re: Why Do Lagos Drivers Fear VIO Officials So Much? by mayzee: 6:24am On Nov 12, 2021
VIO in Lagos are bastards. I hope you never get caught. Cheapest fine is 20k.
No Drivers license 20k,
no insurance 20k,
no road worthiness 20k, etc
When they add all, if it your total is 100k tell me how you want to recover your vehicle even two days after and you will pay demurrage depending on how long. BASTARDS.
You never see them stop commercial vehicles or bike riders ( some obvious violators). Once you car is good looking and you clean up, you are bleeped.
Long and short is none of them will make heaven.
I will never forget Gov Ambode, during his tenure he banned them from the streets of Lagos as he too knew they were devils. Sanwoolu messed up by bringing them back.

How do u charge 20k for drivers license that official rate is 15k for 5 years..... I did not mention that u are forced to pay 1k for validating your bank payment in their office or the 2k5/5k you are forced to pay for reflective sticker depending on if it is commercial vehicle or private. You are charged for ordinary photocopies you in their office sef yet you say they are up nd doing........ Oko oba vio officers,i leave una for God judgement
