It appalling how Nigerians will celebrate the establishment of an airline and using state funds to boost the economy of western countries by buying jets..jets DAT only the politicians and their children plus an extremely small fraction of Nigerians will ever fly...
It will take years for that airline to record profits adding the fact that it under a government rather than private investors... I can only pray for it longevity....

But they despise Governors building flyovers dat eases vehicular movement for the masses flyovers that millions will use ...
Just read and article of Nigerians calling flyovers nothing to celebrate and dey use it daily and feel the advantages but celebrate jets and airlines even their generation will not near
We are truly insane...

Akwa ibom today lacks industrialization and the kind of business environment that will keep their people in their state rather than rushing to PH...
A simple deep sea port costing the same amount they used to buy those planes would have solved this problem DAT generations will forever be grateful for...

Akwa ibom is in dire need of a sea port not airline..if u know the potentials attached to being faced with the Atlantic ocean u will understand this...
This scarce blessing is what makes major cities around the world what they are ,from Lagos to Cairo to Capetown , Accra...check all them..their major driving force to their level vibrance in terms of economy and industrialization is their proximity to the sea

You can tell an airline that will/will not succeed in Nigeria by the type of planes they are buying for local routes. it shows they lack understanding of their industry. Anybody buying airbus/Boeing for local routes won't be in business very long. What you need in Nigeria are regional jets Bombardier CRJs and Embraer ERJs

The A220s are the prized jewel of the commercial regional jets market. Embraer (a Brazilian company) dey learn work. Bombardier, a Canadian airline builder actually sold the A220s design to Airbus, a French company. Tell me why you would settle for less then. Mind you IbomAir has 5 Bombardier airliners in their fleet.

The only reason the state government is investing this much in the aviation industry is that;
1. The industry requires high capital investment, look at AirPeace, those guys are buying more planes than IbomAir. Akwa Ibom state government has the funds, so why not invest it's viable. IbomAir isn't wholly owned by the state. Governor Udom is about ensuring that Akwa Ibom state earns more USD than Naira while making the state a destination (business, leisure, religion, whatever).
2. The numbers have shown an increase in the continent's population over the next ten years, the AFTCA agreement has been signed, economies are booming and new markets are opening up, more people would definitely travel than before.

My friend stop trying to sound knowledgeable by spouting irrelevancies you just picked up on google, you dont know more about aviation than I do, it is an industry I have a keen interest in and have followed for decades, I dont need an ABC lesson or an idiot's guide to planes. My issue (if you cared to read my posts clearly) was domestic flights, these planes are not viable for domestic routes...that is all I said. It has since been posted that these planes are meant for medium haul continental flights. Focus first on your understanding of English.

As for your nonsense about prized jewel and settling for less (again showing how little you know)...that is why Nigerian airlines have failed in the past, they all want to get flashy planes whose economics are not suited for the domestic routes they are deployed on. I can tell you for a fact than any airline in Nigeria deploying Airbus or Boeing on domestic routes will eventually lose money. You dont sustain an airline on ego but economics. Again I have since been corrected that these A220 planes are meant for continental routes.

Before English fails you again, see below:

domestic: e.g kano, Lagos, Abuja etc
continental: e.g Accra, Banjul etc
inter-continental: e.g London, New-York, Dubai etc

If you read my posts I said Airbus including the A220 is not a good plane for "domestic routes in Nigeria". ordinarily when dealing with anyone who understands English i need not add "in Nigeria" as "domestic" means flights within Nigeria, however I specifically added "in Nigeria" because I know Nigerians do not understand English and lo and behold despite domestic supposedly being obvious to an educated man, somebody is still coming here telling me about regional travels in Africa...is that what i am talking about?

Go to night school and take remedial classes in English.

Firstly aviation industry is among the most difficult to run in the world infact there is a saying the fastest way to be a millionaire is to first become a billionaire then start an airline that would make u a millionaire

This is not a sustainable business to invest the state money into and how many people would that employ ?

Akwa ibom I know has the potential to be great

This money used to start this airline can be used to say start up 10,000 fish pund farm in the start ...train 5000 youths ...start it up for them ...after training ...in like 5 cluster around the state , each with each on fingerlings production capacity ...fish feed mill and smoking factory

The farmers buy fingerlings from the factory ,fish from the factory ,train the fish smoke at the cluster ...this is a more sustainable business model because it's not government dependent a

That money can also buy 1000 fishing trawlers they can control the fishing industry ,great a nice value chain that's sustainable

This airline is only Runing because udom wants it to run not that it makes profit to run alone ...it's a feel good project
Pls next time don’t comment on topics you no nothing about ok?

Akwa ibom is a state I know very well ...if this money was invested into 2000 fishing trawlers do to know what can do the the economy of the state ?
Tropicana was revived by our governor via market square and silver bird .. And market square is owned by a Yoruba man

Do you know the fishing potential of akwa ibom ...prawns ,shrimps , fish bro it's massive

All I'm saying is this business is not a good investment simple

And Igbo hating akwa ibom ? Those people that love u where are their investment in akwa ibom ? Those people that own your oil well where are their investment in akwa ibom ?

Took an igbo man to save Tropicana , de choice owned by Igbo , innels , crunches , Kilimanjaro ..this places and many more employ thousands of your brothers yet we hate

Look, Ibomair is privately owned and managed by technocrats in the Airline industry, the state owns a small percentage like 10 and the rest by HNIs from Akwa Ibom.

They run their business successfully and this one will continue to be successful

Go and advise your state government. we are not complaining about our state investment.
you want to tell Akwa ibom people about fish and seafood. check your statistics 80% of Nigeria crayfish comes from Oron waters in Akwa Ibom. 60% of wild caught fish in Nigeria comes from akwa ibom yet pseudo intellectuals like you are busy spewing trash .
Seafood is not our problem. you cant teach fishermen about fish we got that. if you lack what to say just keep quiet. stop disguising your jealousy and envy as concern for the state.
Akwa Ibom is developing Aviation. not just an Airline, it started with Gov. victor Attah almost 21years ago 3 administrations are still building it. component by component Airline is just a component.

1). Airport with large runway for the biggest jets 3,600km x 60m = complete
2) . Second runway of same dimension to double as taxiway = 90% completion
3) Maintenance, repair and overhaul facility MRO = Done , fitting of aviation equipment ongoing opening 2022.
4) Ibom Air = complete
5) cargo facility = ongoing.
6) New terminal building = 60% completion opening 2022.
7). Aviation training school. = Ongoing.
cool. Four lane airport access way currently expanded to 6 lanes = Ongoing.
9). Airport Electricity/Power grid linked to State owned Ibom power plant, first airport in Nigeria to get 24/7 electricity not run by generators.
Chai may God bless yoh ., I too like you
