Agree without reservation

But it can later be use against our security personnel in this COIN war

What this bullet can do is scary shocked

Another advantage the bullet brings to the table. Troops will learn to be careful enough to tidy up things before retreating. Even if it means firing the bullets into the air, or else they might end up on the receiving end of it. Then the airforce will also make destroying ISWAP'd retreating column a priority especially when they have looted army bases.

See it as a token of accountability on the part of all involved in this war.

Thanks for this anecdote showing that there are men and women of the NA who can behave with decorum, decency and intelligence when it comes to deescalating tense situations.

The officers and men who shot and killed innocent protesters at the lekki toll need to be made examples of showing that the NA is no place for mindless, blood thirsty brutes.

Kudos to the panel for finally giving everyone a clearer picture of what happened. I had initially changed my mind about a massacre happening because of the deluge of fake news that followed the event but the recent insights of attempted coverups by the police, LCC and LAWMA have convinced me finally of the true events of october 20 last year.

All the security outfits need to as a matter of urgent importance find a way to teach and eliminate this roguish behavior of how their personnel deal with non-threatening civilians.

Too many brave men and women of the Nigerian Military have given their lives to allow a couple of bad eggs tarnish their name and have them branded as unconscionable killers.

RIP to all deceased Endsars protesters praying they get justice.

ugo4u:
Justice is all Nigerians are asking for and justice they must get else we wont make any progress as a nation. In this same Endsars protest we saw videos of middle level officers particularly Majors in the army disarm and de-escalate angry mobs w/o firing a single gunshot infact the Major that was in charge of the NYSC camp in kogi literally stopped his soldiers from firing into the crowd that wanted to loot the stuffs made for corpers he appealed to the mob and made them see reasons why they shouldn't steal what belongs to their brothers/sisters that came for service, similar scenario occurred in Osun state were we saw another army Major engage an irate mob and within 10min he deescalated an already tensed atmosphere also not forgetting the Senior NAF officer captured on camera warning police officers to stop firing at the mob so he could engage them. These is to tell you that the military have alot of good men that know the sanctity of human lives and the huge responsibility that comes with wearing the uniform, what makes you a good soldier is the ability to carryout your objectiuve with as minimal casualties as possible infact if you can disarm your enemy w/o firing a shot the better. To those set of officers we will always praise and commend them but you see those bad eggs that perpetrate criminalities we must call them out it doesn't mean we aren't patriotic we all want a sane society not a banana republic were anybody can misbehave because he or she have access to a rifle, virtually everyone can pull a trigger people at the helm of affairs should try as much as possible not to push the citizens to the wall because when all hell breaks lose simultaneously all over the country the resultant effect will be worst than a zombie apocalypse.

Hi all! Here are my thoughts. But first, where's Bidexii?
Me and him no agree on much, but this na his thread. Did the guy mount a 122mm rocket that was fired to the heavens? grin grin grin Or is he on a hush-hush commando mission? Would love to know.

On a serious note, I'm afraid that regardless of what the EndSars panel said, nothing will change within the NA. No one will be punished, no real reforms will be implemented. And something like this will keep happening again and again.

The NA is dysfunctional for a purpose and making it a fully disciplined and professional fighting force is not something I see happening soon. It's more like a collection of rogues than an army. But I'm really happy to know there are shining lights here and there that are not like the typical Nigerian soldiers/commanders.

You know, we are Nigeria. We suppose be the giant of Africa. When we cough, neighboring countries suppose p1ss themselves in fear. When we blink they suppose cry for their mama.

And what do we have now? Chadian and Cameroonian troops can saunter into our country anytime they want, kill our countrymen and say they were suspected Boko Haram fighters. Governments like Ghana can go on national tv and insult us. Ivorian authorities can confidently frame up a girl for a crime she no commit and get her killed in jail.

We are so massively disrespected on this continent. We are the butt of jokes and it's not even funny. There's only one way we can change this and that's to start living up to our potential.

It will involve modernizing our security agencies, our economy, our way of life and everything else. But is that going to happen? Not at all because the way Nigeria is set up right now is super profitable to the elites. There will be no change. And we will keep being treated like scum across much of Africa.

And there's another thing. EndSars and the Lekki massacre was special. I'm not sure some of you noticed, but there was a very massive and skilled disinformation campaign just after the Lekki massacre.

I have never seen something as skilled happening in this country and I don't think this disinformation campaign was run by Nigerians. And the goal was a simple one- to make us doubt what we saw that night and to provide ammunition for doubters like that Askia guy to come here and say the whole thing was a hoax.

Who was behind this wide scale deception? Who paid for it? It's important we find out and fast because I fear something like this will be repeated again, perhaps during the 2023 election.

Some of you come here and see me wailing always, criticizing and gnashing my teeth and think I'm just a chronic complainer. That's not true. I love my country. It's beautiful and magnificent.

We can easily rule Africa and we have the brains and resources to make that happen. And it just tears me apart to see the depths we keep sinking to as a people and as a country.

Talk true, is Nigeria a fit place to live and raise children? For me the answer is no and I will keep doing my best to change this and make this a country we all can be proud of.

My apologies for the long epistle.

Some of you guys are incapable of thinking.
The NA is increasingly being called into internal security duties because you are a rich beautiful country of corrupt, idiotic and selfish people who cannot engage in politics, sharing of power and business without cheating yourselves.
You also have no love for yourselves and you have a crappy police.
Your police is crap because your all crooks.

Look at you casting aspersions on the Army as if people join the NA to whip people or kill civillians.
If you actually think the above is true, please check yourself into an asylum.

Dastardly armed robberies, inter communuals wars, bank robberies by and other violent crimes was why all states now have NA involved in internal security duties.
Better show some gratitude and respect.
Without them, you guys are so depraved, you will be snatching babies and pounding them... oh sorry, you are actually doing that now.

I think we should seek ammendment to the Army Act and remove IS duties from what the President can call the Army out for.

Guy, you sound like Charles "Willis" Manson or Oscar Dirlwenger na your twin bro. And you are the mentally unhinged one here not me.

Maybe too much rice is making your head soft. I'm sure you are the type to tell a raped virgin to shut up and stop bawling because her kitten was made for sex and she should be grateful a real man showed her how it's done for free.

How many times have we seen videos of cadets in training acting anyhow on the streets, beating people, stopping traffic on the highway and worse? How many times have we watched interviews of these cadets where they are gleefully explicit in their intentions to beat and oppress Nigerians to the maximum once they are soldiers?

What about the cadet that beat and frog jumped a guy for daring to tell her she's beautiful? You don't think she wasn't enjoying beating, brutally slapping and humiliating a man like a stubborn goat?

When you look at videos of NA personnel giving guys haircuts for carrying head styles they no like or watch them beating a lady for wearing what they consider a revealing outfit, you can't help but go away thinking NA personnel do stuff like this because they really enjoy the ego trip. If you are saying they no enjoy am then you are living in an alternate reality.

Yeah, Nigeria is a nation of corrupt people and cheating ourselves is what we love doing best. I agree with you on that. But the NA is not doing internal security duties because of our propensity to cheat each other. It's deeper than that. It should also be solely tasked with defending our territorial integrity. I agree with you on that.

And we really should be thankful for the army because they keep our collective depravities in check? The same army that visited hell on citizens in Odi, Zaki Biam, Obigbo and the Lekki protests? The same one that's been indicted with bountiful proofs for forcing IDPs in camps to have sex with them in return for food?

The same one that kidnapped scores if not hundreds of women from Obigbo for forceful bedmatic purposes? The same one on the roads, the ports, the highways and more collecting bribe by force? The same one that just 2 weeks ago were firing GPMG at point blank range into populated villages? Are you for real?

Guy, all I'm gonna say is that you need to go to Odumeje so he can deliver you with horsewhip soaked in Cameroon pepper.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao, has assured that terrorists and bandits terrorising Nigerians would soon be wiped out.

Amao stated this on Tuesday during 2022 budget defense session, before the Senate Committee on Air Force.

He said the terrorists have been devastatingly decimated and degraded with attendant loss of fighters and weapons, making many of them to surrender voluntarily.

“Required onslaughts tactically and strategically are already mapped out to rout out the remnants of the insurgents attacking villages and military outposts in pretence of still being potent.

“In line with the core mandate of the Air Force and military generally, the territorial integrity of Nigeria is being protected against the insurgents and bandits, who, in no distant time, will be completely wiped out,” he said.

He said as the 2021 budgetary allocations to the Air Force was judiciously used in prosecuting the war against the insurgents and bandits as well as improving the welfare of officers and men, the 2022 allocations would also be expended judiciously for similar purposes.

“In the face of challenges at hand, prudency and accountability have been the guiding principle of implementation of budgetary allocations by the Nigeria Air Force,” he said.

Before the session went into closed door, the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah (APC, Kebbi), tasked the military to use all the resources within its disposal to flush out the remnants of the insurgents and make the forests inhabitable for bandits, kidnappers and all forms of criminals.

“The Air Force and by extension the military generally deserved commendation from Nigerians as far as war against insurgency and banditry is concerned but Nigerians want these enemies of the nation to be completely defeated as soon as possible.

“For us on this committee and in the National Assembly, required appropriations in terms of procurement of weapons, armaments and enhancement of welfare of officers and men in the military shall be made since essence of governance itself is security and welfare of citizenry,” he said.

People all have eyes but they all see different thing's.

One sees peace in the same situation that another see's WAR.

This is personal testimony, there was I time I had done so much combat training . That I could literally take out 3/4 people in a matter of 20/25 seconds in any physical confrontation.

However, people could abuse me even assault me , I never seen the need to retaliate and or take retribution. When you know who you are , you don't feel any need to PROVE IT or seek the validation of people you probably don't even know.

This report states how the General died, Apparently he didn't die from ISWAP fire.

[b]It added that a “battle could have been lost if a commander is killed.”

The signal read in full, “At about 130915A Nov 21, following attack on troops of115 Task Force Battalion Askira Uba by ISWAP terrorists, troops of 25 Brigade led by Brigade Commander, Brig Gen MF Babayo (N/10211) in conjunction with troops of 28TF Brigade carried out reinforcement to Askira. While on pursuit of the terrorist, troops made contact with the terrorist at Leho Village (N10°42'10.22" E12°50'47.76"wink in Askira LGA.

“During the contact, own MRAP conveying the Brigade Commander deliberately rammed ISWAPs MRAP which led to destruction of ISWAPs MRAP while own MRAP engulfed in fire. However, the Brigade Commander and the MRAP crew were able to get out of the MRAP but the commander had serious chest injury due to the head on collision. Casualties on troops are one soldier and one CJTF WIA while equipment casualties are one x Phantom MRAP, 3 x AA Guns (2 DAMAGED), one x AK47 rifle, 2 x AK 47 Magazine and 60 x 7.62mm (SPECIAL) rounds. Enemy casualties are over 50 terrorists elements (including their commander) were killed. Enemies one x MRAP and 5 x GTs destroyed while tps recovered 3 x GTs, 2 x AA guns, 5 x AK47 rifles, one x HK MG and one x HK MG links were recovered.

“At about 131745A Nov 21, the WIA were evacuated to 7 DMSH for further medical Management. Reinforcement team returned to HQ 25TF Bde Damboa at about 2000hours same day. Please find pictures attached. One of the major elements in battle is the Commander. Commanders of 25TF and 28TF Brigades put up amazing direction of command leading troops into battle.

“Unfortunately, the 25TF Brigade Commander lost his life in the process. It is quite heroic but not to good that commanders are found in the fore front to lead battles. If the command should fall, then troops have not direction or fighting spirit. It is one of the rules of warfare that the battle could have been lost if a commander is killed; hence soldiers could retreat.

“It should be note that ISWAP intends to follow this suit by targeting commanders. Commanders are now eager to motivate and inspire soldiers where moral is low. It is only significant that troops be always encouraged to show professionalism in the face of existing threats to fight without recourse the enemy of the State. Such motivational aspects of military trade craft should be encouraged as well as discipline while the Commanders highly directs and request appropriate from ASA need items and CAS to support the battle. Kindly forwarded for your information.

I think with all that's going on especially withregards the portrayal of Gumi, this is an apt interview. Enjoy.

Vanguard Ng

Buhari angry with Gumi for two reasons – Mamu

November 7, 2021

…but can’t nail Sheikh

•Says Sultan, DSS DG, AGF, NSA, Service Chiefs knew of visits to bandits in the forests, President didn’t give consent

•‘Critics attack Muslim cleric because he is completely misunderstood’

By Our Reporter

Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, is in the eye of the storm following statements he makes that appear to be in support of bandits terrorising the North-West.

Many Nigerians have wondered why the Islamic scholar had not been reined in by President Muhammadu Buhari especially when he said lately that the corporate existence of the country could be threatened if the Federal Government goes ahead to label bandits as terrorists.

However, his spokesman, Tukur Mamu, says, in this interview, that Gumi had been completely misunderstood by critics, noting that most of his statements had been twisted to give the impression that he was supporting bandits. According to him, Gumi is also a victim of the system that threw up banditry in the country. Mamu, also a Kaduna-based publisher who says he was on the entourage of Gumi during his visits to bandits in the forests to get them to stay off banditry, bares it all.

Why does it seem that Sheikh Gumi is sympathetic to the cause of bandits?

It is not true that Sheikh Gumi is sympathetic to the cause of bandits; I can tell you that it is the opposite. I want to give you a very simple example. The recent article he wrote about the plan of Federal Government to designate bandits as terrorists, the media reported the whole thing the wrong way; if you go through what he presented, it is a kind of diversionary or to create hatred or enmity between Muslims and Christians. If you analyze the content very well, he said all the acts these people are perpetrating are pure acts of terrorism and that it’s not accepted for any society to see these things happening.

But in his own opinion as a religious leader, he is saying, for example, that Boko Haram believes that you and I as Muslim or Christian, if you don’t follow their own ideology, they can kill us. And these are the people that believe that if they die now, they will go to paradise. But these bandits are not fighting religious war, they are fighting an economic war, they’re looking for money by all means and through any means.

We learnt that majority of the bandits are not Nigerians?

No, honestly, most of them are Nigerians. I can tell you, in most of the bushes we have visited; you will find more than 1, 000 young people, largely Fulani, between the ages of 14 and 18. You will see them clearly injecting themselves with drugs and they are with sophisticated weapons. Where are they getting these weapons from?

So where are they getting weapons?

That is the issue Gumi is trying to make people understand. Government officials, security agencies are benefiting from it because, why will you allow some people in the community to have access to these sophisticated weapons; where are they getting them from? And then, what do we do? If we have the will, intelligence people should go after these people and flush them out once and for all so that everybody will have peace. Let government do it, that’s what he said. But the present situation is that we don’t have the capacity, intelligence and we may not even have the sincerity to pursue this thing to a logical conclusion.

So, he (Gumi) is saying that in view of these predicaments, instead of always allowing the bandits to waste innocent lives, why can’t we go into dialogue with them for people to have peace? I can tell you, next year in the North-West, hunger will be unprecedented because people didn’t go to farm.

We also learnt farmers have to pay tax before they can go to their farms to harvest their produce. Is this true?

My brother, the situation is bad and we are very much concerned.

But Gumi has access to the Presidency and the people in government, why is he not talking about what he saw going to the forests to interface with the bandits?

We have reached out to the President many times for us to have one-on-one discussion; you know the President is somebody that holds something in his mind.

The first problem Gumi started having with the President was during the time of President Yar’Adua. After that election that brought Yar’Adua to power, Gumi called the two of them, I was part of that meeting, he said “I want to advise you, since this election has been declared and Yar’Adua agreed that the process was flawed and he will correct the process, please and please, don’t go to court”. But Buhari went to court, that was the time they started having problems.

The second problem Gumi had with the President was before the 2015 general elections when he said both Jonathan and Buhari were not fit to be President and that we wanted younger persons. He said that in view of the security crisis and corruption we were having, we needed younger people to succeed Jonathan in 2015 and he disqualified both of them. So, that angered Buhari so much. When we started going to the forests, we applied through the Chief of Staff, we met the Sultan, the Director General of DSS, Malami (AGF), NSA, Service Chiefs but Buhari didn’t give his consent up till today.

Why did you meet those Security Chiefs?

We met them because there should be an official engagement. For example, people are accusing Gumi that he is romancing bandits. So what he is trying to do is that, “this thing I’m doing, I don’t want to do it alone, I want this thing to have official backing so that wherever I’m going to, let them follow me”. And that’s what we have been doing. Anywhere we went, the police cooperated but the army didn’t cooperate, the DSS said they will not participate but they have been following our activities. So, if somebody has something to hide, why will you engage government people in what we are trying to pursue? Well, some of them are disposed to the idea Gumi is bringing on board, you know the President didn’t give his blessing and whatever you do. I can tell you, if the President is not involved in it, there’s virtually nothing you can do.

If they have anything incriminating against Gumi, with the kind of grudge that Buhari has, he would have been arrested by now. He is also a target but people think Buhari is over protecting him, no. Buhari wants an excuse that will even nail Gumi but he couldn’t get it. All his pronouncements and preaching to the bandits is that, “your religion doesn’t allow what you are doing, this thing you are doing is not accepted in Islam and under no circumstance should you say because you have one grudge or the other, cases of cattle rustling in the past, you should take up arms, that this should not be enough reason for you to go into banditry and start killing”. I am telling you, some of the places we went, everybody was afraid because we didn’t even know if we will come back alive. But when he started preaching to them, you will see them dropping their Indian hemp, guns and listening to us till we finished.

But what is happening now in banditry, insurgency and drug problem, is that not failure of northern leaders?

That is why we are clearly against them. He sat down with virtually all of them, the governor of Sokoto, those of Zamfara, Niger and Kaduna. There’s a lot of money in this business. People are using security vote to enrich themselves as much as they can. So what is happening, especially as far as northern state governors are concerned, there’s division on how to properly handle it.

The second issue is how to go about this in a holistic way to deal with the problem and then there’s the issue of insincerity among them. I can tell you that most of the governors are not sincere. I will give you an example of Zamfara State government. When he invited Gumi to come and meditate, we spent nine days in Zamfara, going to all these bushes.

We contacted virtually all of them. And then the simple agreement we had with the bandits as of that time, Gumi told them that “government will not take money and give it to you but what is due to you as citizens, we will encourage the government to give it to you”. For example, for decades, they don’t even know anything like school, water, clinics and for all these periods, they don’t feel the presence of government.

Gumi told them that first, “I will encourage government to deploy resources so that they will start doing these things gradually for you”. And then, secondly, there’s the issue of unemployment because most of them have been dispossessed of their cows. A normal Fulani man, if you dispossess him of his cow, there’s no other means of livelihood. So “there should be a process where government will assist you at least to come back to life, by way of giving you some cows”.

In addition, he suggested to the governor that since these people have sophisticated weapons and there’s no likelihood they’ll agree to submit all the weapons at once, “you people should engage them like local vigilantes and then you can make them forest rangers to be guarding the forest, make it official, document them and then pay them stipends to start weaning them off banditry”. So, we reached that agreement, we presented it to the governor; he agreed and said he will start full implementation. So, we were waiting, one month, two months, three months, some people advised him against it and what we noticed, you can ask your reporter there, between that period that we went and three months, there was no single attack in Zamfara because the bandits heeded our agreement that, at least for now, there should be trust and cessation of hostilities, pending when government will start implementation of their own part. I am telling you, government didn’t do it.

• In part two of interview next week, Mamu speaks on the report of the panel Zamfara government set up on banditry that has not been implemented and why many emirs in the state cooperated with bandits.

Yes. If there was little ammo and they were shooting at his own MRAP.

The carcass of the MRAP should still be towed away. ISWAP has shown very high dexterity with scavenging for parts used in improvising their own armored vehicles, nothing should be left for them.

Suspected Ambazonia separatist from Cameroon have wreaked havoc in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.

According to the Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Emmanuel Bwacha, the suspects gunned down the village head and some residents of Manga community.

Manga village is 20 kilometers away from Kashimbilla Dam.

The lawmaker, coming under a point of order during Senate plenary on Wednesday, said the residents were killed during an invasion of the community by the Cameroonian separatists, who also razed down the village.

Bwacha, who represents Taraba South in the Senate, said the separatists’ invasion threatened Nigeria’s territorial sovereignty as their motive is yet unknown.

He, therefore, called on the military to immediately swing into action to prevent the eventual occupation of Manga community by the separatists.

He said, “I rise this morning to draw the attention of our country men and particularly our security agencies to this unfortunate incident which undermines our integrity and sovereignty as a nation.

“Takum local government houses the 23 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, and so Mr. President, it is my humble submission that the Nigerian Army should rise to the challenge and curb this wanton territorial expansion.

“Their (Separatists) motive is yet unknown, whether they want to expand territory or lay claim for Southwest Cameroon is not yet clear.

“As I speak, a number of individuals have gone missing and their whereabouts are yet unknown. The village also is razed down.”

The Senate, thereafter, held a minute silence to honour those killed by the Ambazonia separatists.
