This issue is an old one. Even in advance countries, stories abound. They unavoidable but preventable.

1: pour at least two litters of fuel in the bowl at least once a month
2: blend garlic and bitter kola and pour the mixture into the bowl at least once in two months.

Thought I was the only one who was affected by the news. Last year a similar news was reported which happened abroad. The man got bit by a snake, the snake sank it's fangs into the man's genitals, and the man wrestled in the toilet with the creepy creature, he held the snake to throw it off him, yet no success, till his wife came. I was affected badly by the news and it's pictures. No snake in my environment, yet I still cannot trust there wouldn't be any in the septic tank. There is nothing I hate on earth like the creepy demons called snakes. Got horrible phobia for it.

I am always observant whenever i am in the toilet. I must flush first before sitting on it.




I have had very close encounter with snakes on two occasions and they didn't bite me.....I must be very lucky, but I don't want it to happen the third time.

Snakes in a toilet seat is really nothing to worry about and can be prevented. This is because snakes don't just decide to creep into a water cistern rather it is as a result of chasing rodents like rats that hibernate in your soak-away pit.

This is what happens: Snakes (especially cobras) have a good appetite for rats. They crawl into soak-aways which is usually where the rodents live...Rats have circular motion unlike snakes. A rat can get into a plumbing pipe and simply make a U-turn but a snake can't. The snake in a bid to find a way out of the pipe follows the channel till it gets to your cistern and since the cistern is made of ceramic which snakes can't climb, they remain stuck and just wait.

Remedy:

*Fill up holes around your soak-away pits with cement (not sand as rats and moles can re-dig them)...

*Fumigate your compound with anti rodents and anti-pests fumigants to ward off rats, snakes and other reptiles.

*Keep your surroundings clean and clear bushes especially during the dry season.
