Governor Willie Obiano has told the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that he will be relocating to his United States base when he leaves office next March.

Reacting yesterday to Wednesday’s placement of the governor on a watch list by the anti-graft agency, Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Don Adinuba, accused EFCC of acting a script.

He said his principal, currently out of the country, never disguised when he embarked on the foreign trip.

The commissioner said the governor has made it public that he would relocate to his U.S. residence at the end of his tenure.

Chief Obiano has never left any person(s) in doubt that he will relocate to his base in the United States once he finishes his tenure.

As early as August 31, 2020, he announced his decision to a meeting of the Anambra State Council of Elders, comprising such personages as the erstwhile Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku; the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe who is also the chairman of both the Anambra State Council of Traditional Rulers and the Southeast Council of Traditional Rulers; a former Anambra State Governor, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife; an ex-Minister of Women Affairs, Iyom Josephine Anenih, mni; the founding Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Professor Elochukwu Amucheazi; the Archbishop-Emeritus of the Anglican Church in Anambra State, The Most Reverend Dr Maxwell Samuel Chukwunweike Anikwenwa; and the Catholic Bishop of the Awka Diocese, Rev Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor.

“Nigerians were dismayed that the EFCC went a new low on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, when it sponsored media reports claiming that it has placed Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State on its watch list. The EFCC provided no details of how Governor Obiano has been placed on its watch list but made a reference to a letter it purportedly wrote on November 15, 2021, to the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) asking it to inform the anti-graft agency anytime the governor is travelling out of the country,” Adinuba stated.

They steal & destroy the State. Abuse the power they are given. Let loose their thugs & killers who then resort to robbery & kidnapping. Put the country into a state of lawlessness...

Then relocate with their families to better societies...

What's even the essence of this EFCC putting somebody on watch list? It's like alerting a criminal to destroy or cover up whatever evidence you have against him.

It's only a tree that knows you are coming to cut it down & yet doesn't run away.

You mean to say, you ruled for 8 years in a state you couldn't raise and build to a standard and level worth leaving in even after your tenure is an abysmal thought not even to say.

Nigeria really has a very strong foundamental problem.

Emagin someone who base abroad and people who frequent the developed world being give oppotuinities to govern states and a country . Yet these bunch of men can't replicate one good thing they see in the developed countries.

Governor Obiano should be given kudos for his performance.

At least he tried compared to Okorocha who brought in family interest in governance of Imo state.

He will relocate with all the state funds and America won’t do jack about it because it will benefit them as well.

People who have dual citizenship most give up their other pasport to contest for election. If you know you and your family most live in the mess or nest you created after office you will do everything to leave a better state.

Its like a payback to what APGA did to APC in Anambra. Now he is saying look I'm not going to run for any office.
