People break up with their exes due to a variety of reasons like infidelity, nagging, domineering attitude, demanding attitude, et.c,though some would reconnect with the ex, and continue from where they stopped.
But there are some reasons for the breakup, that are too grievous for any reconnecting to be possible or even stand at all,which include physical abuse( beating),cheating.

My point being... don't generalize.

I would have if it was a few months after the break up but now I see things better and clearer.
