Nigeria is hell on earth. Most of you here complaining have sold your votes to political criminals (for bags of rice and tin tomatoes) who have been holding this country back from progressing.

Elections have consequences! Vote correctly to get good governance! Positive change can only start with the electorate! You can't make the same mistakes and still expect a different outcome!

Out of frustration, I went to first bank to deactivate SMS alert on my acct. They deducted 828# and 82.8# as vat, wetin I dey transact?

The customer care rep told me the option is not available for now which means they intentional made it impossible, they are stealing from us through that channel.. this country is just annoying

But how can a government be double taxing it's citizens on everything?
Now when we buy Airtime, we have paid for a VAT of 7.5%. how can they still be deducting 7.5% from every call and sms you use that same taxed airtime.?

Some sends you money from his Account, the person pays both a commission to the bank and also VAT, you that receives the said amount is also made to pay a commission and VAT on the same money...

Isn't all these Double Taxation?

It's high time we stand against this Evil been done by Banks

I've been hearing of this Standard Chartered for some time now. The only challenge is they don't have wide branch coverage

I have never had a reason to visit or even look for where their branch is located. It is cause they have very limited branches that's why they are able to provide banking services without arbitrary deductions made by other banks. Even if you need some banking service that can't be done on their app, you can reach them on their customer care number. I have done this twice, and I can tell you without mincing words the issues you have will be resolved almost immediately. Why would you even want to visit a branch with the Covid induced queues.
I am probably sounding like I have been paid, Standard Chartered Bank is the best bank in Nigeria.

Lmao!!!!

Seems you’ve never banked with UBA before!? LOL!!
UBA was the first bank I banked with they were deducting 350-400 on every transaction wether deposit or withdrawal and no matter the amount, I approached them and the reason they gave was that the amount I deposited into the account after it's first opening was huge and that they saved me the inconveniences of carrying the amount from where I opened the account to my current location, as if they're the only existing bank. When I saw that this people are mad even the manager, I couldn't even wait to transfer and without considering the risk of carrying the amount my cash because delay could be dangerous, I quickly filled a withdrawal teller to withdraw all the money in the account to a nearby Access Bank then but they insisted I must leave 5k as minimum balance after a heated arguments they still witheld 5+ small fractions, since then(7years now) I don't even know if anything like UBA still exist.

Re: Customers Outraged Over Excessive Bank Charges by angelfallz(m): 10:59am On Nov 29, 2021
wow standard sms charge is = 4naira.
if they deducted 1200 that means you had 300 sms/alerts

queenblossom:

I woke up this morning to get a debit alert of 1200naira and they call it sms charges. How can I spend 1200 for just sms . This is ridiculous

Stamp duty is the only charge, as far as I know. You only pay this once on deposits above 10k. Ditch GTB, I have already. Only my dom account is active on there.
