Cleverley had better technique and showed better promise in the youth team. What killed Cleverley was the adulation that Xavi was getting which made him go crazy about possession football and led to his conversion to "Sideways Cleverley".

The major reason McTom was picked out from the youth set up was because Mourinho loved big and physical players. There was nothing that made him standout in that youth set apart from his height and the only way he even got into the first 11 regularly was playing CF not in midfield.
Kudos to him though, through desperate hard work and determination he has been serviceable at times. Who knows he might actually improve with good coaching. I think all the players should have a clean slate and let us see how they will perform with this current system. I won't be shocked if Shaw (and maybe even AWB) that everybody is abusing now reclaim their starting spots, after all we are yet to see them play in the current system.

I didn’t actually celebrate the goal until Crystal Palace kicked off from the centre circle. VAR has eliminated that reflex joyful reaction from football.

Ronaldo will not want to be rested but for his won good, I hope the coaches protect him even if it doesn't sit well with him. He should be playing on game every week and not 2-3 especially this period where the fixture list is crazy...

Bissouma and Phillips together will cost Declan Rice money, and they are better suited to pressing and high line system.

Yeah very true. I mentioned Phillips cos he is good quality and plays in an area of need for us. Rafinha is their other quality player. Most of the rest are system players.

Every coach even the genius coaches with wonderful systems prefer players with quality. A player who relies fully on the system because of his own limitations will only take you so far.

A system player in Salah’s position for Liverpool will still do well but will never give you Salah’s output in that system.
Even great systems are better with talented players. Imagine how much better our team would be with prime Edgar Davids and Arturo Vidal instead of McFred.
