Read News and update yourself about the happenings around the world.

Citizens and Permanent residents have been entering for months now.

The December 1 is just the date to free some temporary visa holders to enter.

Are you forced to take the vaccine? No
Is it compulsory you leave Nigeria? No

We’re only here to update people with open minds who might find some information useful.

Weather it adds up or not is left to you to decide.

Define force? When i have to show a particular stuff before i can do something, it is then mandatroy; it is force.

It’s getting serious.

Canada detected two cases from travellers from Nigeria. I hope this won’t have a huge effect on our people.

Once Africa is involve, it is just a matter of time before they will add Nigeria to their list.

Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Vincentosa: 11:08pm On Nov 29, 2021
Hello folks,
Just a quick one. My wife has some properties bought by her parents in her name and his elder brother. Two houses in Abuja and two others outside Abuja.
I intend to use the proper document as a supporting document for home ties. My problem is the property documents has my wife's name and that of her brother. Will this be valid for me as a supporting document for home ties? Or I should not use it for Visa application since my name didn't appear in it? Please advice accordingly please.
Always appreciate your kind response.

You can check any of the airlines and book directly. Don’t book any Arline passing through South Africa o.

I’ll advise you book Qatar Airways though. It’s fast and less stress.

thanks

Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Vincentosa: 11:44pm On Nov 30, 2021
For some of us who may not know this: Please read!!!!

In order to study in Australia, you will need to obtain an Australian student visa. You must be able to prove to the Department of Home Affairs that you meet the following key Australian student visa requirements:

Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement
Financial requirements
English proficiency requirements
Health and character requirements
Now let us discuss these in detail.

Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE)

Introduced in November 2011, The Genuine Temporary Entrant(GTE) says that the visa applicant must be able to demonstrate a genuine intention to stay in Australia temporarily for the purpose of study or to accompany a student as a dependent (i.e. spouse or child) or as a guardian. The decision-makers at the Department of Home Affairs will consider the following factors:

Circumstances in your home country
Potential circumstances for you in Australia
Value of your chosen course to your future
Your immigration history
Financial Requirements

Evidence of sufficient funds to cover tuition, travel, and living costs. From February 2018, the amount you need to prove you have for living costs (separate from tuition and travel) is set at AU$20,290 (~US$15,600) (before 2021) for a year. If you have dependents (such as a spouse and children), you will also need to show evidence of being able to cover living costs for them, including school fees. Alternatively, you can show evidence that your spouse or parents are willing to support you and that they earn at least an AU of $60,000 (~US$46,140) a year (this is not the current value).

English Proficiency Requirements

If you’re not from an English-speaking country (and haven’t completed at least five years’ study in an English-speaking country) you’ll need to prove you can speak English to the required level. The Department of Home Affairs website lists eligible tests with possibilities being the IELTS, TOEFL, IBT, Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic, and Cambridge Advanced English (CAE). The score you will need will depend on whether you are starting a full degree, doing a foundation course, or enrolling in a preliminary English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS).

Health Requirements

Some students may be asked to take a medical and/or a radiological check-up to show they’re in good health (this applies, for example, to those who intend to train as a doctor, dentist, or nurse). If told to do so, you must attend an appointment with a doctor who has been approved by the Australian immigration department.

Character Requirements

Australian student visa requirements stipulate you must be of good character to enter Australia. This includes a criminal record check, to make sure you don’t have a substantial criminal record. You may also need to acquire a penal clearance certificate (or police certificate) or get a police statement and may be asked to complete a Character Statutory Declaration Form.

I knew it was just a matter of time.

I keep asking myself if it is because they usually get hands through those migrants that crosses through border either by sea or leg. Hmmm

What do you think about Ethiopian or Turkish Airlines?

I am planning booking anyone if them as they appear cheaper than others.

Please I need your response as soon as possible.

Till date I haven’t met anyone or agency that has used Ethiopian airlines. As for the others, just make sure your itinerary is clear from the Omicron-affected African countries and you should be fine. My apologies I do not frequent this website.

We are involve now also.
I always knew that the cr@zy NCDC will rush and say they have a case.
All of a sudden, the primary virus is nowhere to be found nowadays, only the variant type?
I pity the sheeps.

Your GPA is fine. Australia schools doesn't really discrimination against GPA as much. I have not seen any here. I think the worse is that you may be advice to begin with a pgd/ foundation course towards qualifying for the main program.
You can check out these few amongst many: university of tasmania, university of south Australia, University of Technology, Queensland, University of Western Sydney, University of Technology, Sydney, University of NSW, Australian Catholic University, Canbera, University of Wollongong, etc. Some of these schools are in Regional area.
Australia will be happy to welcome you.

True, they aren't doing that at all for now. There is high shortage of skilled workers in Australia. Let's hope that they are not thinking in the direction of border closure due to fear of Omicron

Good day Beautiful people,
I guess as a result of the borders being closed, the thread has been quite inactive. Please, persons in Australia should do well to continue to provide us with information which will help intending travelers as I believe the past 2 years has come along with some differences over there.
As we await the positive news of Borders opening from the 15th of the month I am hoping to be in Australia (Adelaide) by the end of the month.
Please is there anyone currently in Adelaide willing to assist me in transitioning easily to the culture there as I honestly don’t have an acquaintance over there at the moment.

Good morning people.

Please this is concerning COVID-19 test which is a requirement for those intending to migrate.

Where can one take the test both in and outside Lagos especially in the East?
Is it true that there are designated centres for those taking the test for the purpose of travelling?

How long does it take the result of the test to be released?

Please I need urgent answers as wify may be leaving for Australia on 17th/18th of this month.

Hello, my husband did his covid PCR test in May when he was leaving for Australia at Mecure in Lagos State. You can do it anywhere but it's better to do it in a big clinic to avoid wahala at the airport.
Also, the test has to be taken less than 72 hrs before your flight. The best thing to do is to do it a day before.
Hope this answers your question.

Dear All,

Please I want to ask something. I have a scholarship from UNSW for a Ph.D. but I do not have money for couple health insurance as UNSW said they will only refund the health care ( for me alone) when I am in Australia. Now I want to ask is it possible that I buy two single medicare insurance which is around 3068dollars each instead of buying couple? Then when we get to Australia one can get money and buy the couple one later.

For any decision you take, try to follow the Unsw directive on purchasing the OSHC from their preferred provider - medibank (comprehensive cover), to ensure no stories in your refund https://research.unsw.edu.au/additional-information.
For your partner, you may source the cover from a cheaper option. Since refund is just for the student.

Hello everyone, please I would like to know if sibling is acceptable as sponsor for VISA application. What I saw on the VISA application page talks to only parents and spouse. I did not see sibling anywhere in the evidence of financial capability section. Someone with most recent experience should help clarify if using sibling as sponsor is fine and it will cause no issue.

Thank you in anticipation of your responses
Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Mike365: 9:11am On Dec 08, 2021
Okay. That's fine. The instance I drew was one used by another Unsw student who is in your shoes. I do not know about converting single to couple. Maybe you can email the provider(s) for clarification

There are two categories of sponsors;

1. Applicant, Spouse or Parent: They can show evidence of income that they earn at least $60k AUD/year or evidence such as a bank statement that shows one year of tuition fees and living expenses.

2. Sibling, Uncle/Aunt, Cousins or In-law : Evidence such as a bank statement to cover one year of tuition fees and living expenses. In most cases, the bank statement needs to be for at least 3 months and shows evidence of income.

Please note that for AL1 schools, you might not need to show any evidence of financial capacity when applying for visa, however, it is good practice to have it handy as the case officer can request for it at anytime during the visa process. I am sure a couple of people have mentioned in previous post on this thread where the case officer requested for an updated bank statement.

I hope that makes sense?
