I'm not sure there is any Ronaldo fan who in his/her right senses will say Ronaldo deserved to be be in the top three.

I think their argument was that Lewandowski deserves it more although even that is up for debate.

I was also of the opinion that Lewandowski deserves it more than Messi but recently, after taking careful look at the stats released for the ballon d'or, I've come to realise that Messi probably just about deserve it.

U are not a Ronaldo fan. Ronaldo didn't under perform but Juventus underperformed. He can't play the entire pitch now. Last season barca underperformed but will u say the same of Messi? See this mumu. Ronaldo won Coppa Italia with Juve and was their highest goal scorer. So, because Messi's Argentina finally won the Copa America, it means Messi performed better? What was Messi's contribution in the Semi Final and Final? Stop deceiving yourself. This award isn't awarded based on purely football performance. It's to do with sentiments among the voters.
