This is absolutely a day light robbery! Lots of energy have been expanded to achieved this aim, and lots of pounds have gone just because of ILR. God when are we going to end this modern slavery?

Its a price to pay for "a better life ".... hopefully its a better life for us all..... For sure the fees are too high and its plain extortion but what can we do.

However everyone experience is different. Mine i won't call it modern slavery and looking back I had a better quality of life than if I was in Nigeria but yes everyone experience is different

Does post graduate visa counts towards the 5years road to ILR? My family of three started this journey in October this year.
If you mean PSW, No.

Same with mine oo, they were all surprised and one said imagine paying that much for this cold country grin grin. One needs to let them know that migrants are not their problem when it comes to accessing benefits.

No recourse to public funds and we pay through our nose to get ILR, then no send us work sha.

Now imagine a Family of 5 on the 10yr route,
Student Msc
PSW
Student (Msc) partner
PSw
Student (phd)
ILR
British citizenship

PSW doesn't count

PSW doesn't count go and read about it on UK Govt website. It just a gateway just like study visa after two years if you don't get tier 2 visa or startup visa you will go home.

Reason why some students are shocked about the cost of psw. It is stated there.

Did you read before posting the link? Where did they state PSW is part of the 10years?

Please I need advice from anyone who has been in my shoes or has information.

I am planning to visit the UK for an exam from Nigeria but I can't fly directly and I also can't afford the quarantine fees.

I plan to spend 14 days in Turkey then proceed to UK from there.

Can I book a multicity / circle trip from Lagos to Istanbul to London and then back to Lagos? Does this qualify as a round trip?

I am asking this because the Turkey visa specifies that I must have a round trip/return ticket for me to be allowed entry into the country.

Did you read "This can be in any immigration category, or a combination of different immigration categories"?

Is PSW not an immigration category?
Any visa that gives residency counts towards 10 year route.

Hello everybody. Pls I will be glad if someone can answer this question below...
I'm planning coming to UK immediately ban is lifted but I'm confused already. So the question nw is can I get HR job in UK as soon as I come or do I have to apply for MBA b4 I can be qualified ? I have B.ED edu management, pdg business adm, cipm nd 3yrs hand on experience in hr.
You didn't state which type of visa you will be using, that may affect the type of job you get.
For HR, you do not need a degree to get a HR role. CIPM may help but MBA is an overkill. Lot's of HR people in my organisation I know did not have a degree.

It says it can be in any immigration category or a combination for the ten year route.
PSW doesn't count towards the 5 year route.

Okay o good luck you can count your psw. No need to explain since that's what you got from that statement.

I guess that's why someone counted study visa as well.

I am struggling to understand why you don't get it. You asked for link which I provided.
This is an information that is widely known.

In addition, student visa counts towards 10 year route as well. In fact a friend got ILR based on combination of several tier 4 visas and PSW. This used to be the norm before a form of restriction was put on student visa.

I know someone who got his British citizenship via the ten year route. PSW was two years out of those ten years.
You are definitely mixing it up with the 5 year route

Yes, you can, it qualifies.
They are basically saying you must have a ticket for a flight out of their country, they don't really care where.

Hello all,
Just a follow on the question I asked about council tax exemption for a student dependant cos of the conflicting opinions. My husband and I were granted exemption and issued a certificate after I applied online and submitted all his details along side mine. Unfortunately, many people dont know their spouses are exempted as well.

From this comment we can see you have low self-esteem. Anyway let it all out because this is the only time you can contribute to the forum.

When you are done drink lots of water and sleep.

Does anyone have a functional contact number for the Nigerian high commission please? Applied for two passports and one (first issue) was received three days later. The other one (renewal) hasn’t been received and it’s well over a month now. I’ve tried sending several emails to no avail. The number on the website just rings forever. This is so frustrating. Please if anyone knows a valid contact or email address that they actually respond to, please help. Thank you.

If I remember clearly, the information supplied was not conflicting, it was very clear that a full-time student, their dependant spouse with NRPF and the house which they rent are all exempt from council tax for the duration of the full-time student's course.

Did you read before posting the link? Where did they state PSW is part of the 10years?

10 years just means "have stayed in the UK legally for 10 consecutive years then you qualify. The key word is legally and consecutively ..... so student visa is a legal stay so is any dependant visa, spouse visa , PSW and the working visas. All that can be combined to make up the 10 years . ...... so even young people who do A level and read up to PHD level and then PSW can make up their 10 years that way .

Visiting visa is what doesn't count as that not a stay visa but a visit visa and also entering UK through a boat illegally or any other illegal way of entering and staying . Those are illegal way not legal so won't count .

If you start off as a legal visa ie student visa or dependent and then fall out of status or become illegal or fall out of status after PSW then you disqualify as a person needs to be legal all through that 10 years ...it has to be consecutively been in a legal status
