The Northerners have probably created this company to loot the national treasury. All of a sudden there is a billionaire who heads several companies and also has the capacity to lead an unknown telecom company that will operate on 5G frequency in Nigeria.
A telecom company with services that exist on paper only. Well, a day of reckoning is coming, after all Buhari is not going to be president forever.

Backers are financial institutions.

Nobody has such money in his back pocket nor would such a person use money in his back pocket if he had any.

Why is it not a mainstream commercial bank like GTB, Zenith, or UBA?

Are you telling me they won't want to fund such a lucrative business if it was trustworthy?

Why does it have to be an Islamic bank, and why does the owners have to be all connected to the current federal government in one way or the other?

Are Islamic banks illegal?

Is it a crime to know someone?

Well-done with your unintelligent assumption..I observed that once it's not in favor of your tribe you criticize it huh?
Stop the hate and focus on the positive side and the achievement man..

What do you know about the person or the company to put up such a stout 'defense'.
It doesn't worry you that a company incorporated barely a year old will command such prime real estate where security is of serious importance.
They are certainly fronting for someone or some enterprise out there and the National Assembly should be placed on full alert to disclose to the public through the DSS where all this comes from.
It is in the public interest as will be in saner climes.

So a northerner's business shouldn't thrive when a northerner is in power?
if such businesses can only thrive under such circumstances, then it will likely go under sooner than later when power shifts.

A good business should thrive no matter who is in government

Right now, our major hope is on MTN.
They also won the bid and they are the only ones we can trust right now to give us proper 5G.

MAFAB may well succeed but I won't hold my breath.

Yeah.

That's what was said about Glo too.

Abeg.

It is not our money that would be used.

Such monies are from financial institutions.

If the business fails it is its loss.

There is a sinister motive behind this plan, considering the fact that these guys were not a major player in the telecominication space.

i have a feeling the mafab wont even pay up to that ridiculous amount

this was just a ploy by the government of the day to discourage the major players.

Same Nigerians complaining (rightly) about the poor handling of the power sector privatisation which was shrouded in secrecy and slots sold to cronies are defending this.
You sell perhaps the most valuable high tech licence in the history of Nigeria to an enterprise with zero experience and a blank CV.....
Who does that in ANY civilised part of the world...
Only in Nigeria...

It all smells of man-know-man and not in a good way.
Like a close knit network.

Yes, in such a high level project, and with the level of corruption in Nigeria, it's not good for a major contractor to know somebody in govt before winning a Major bid.

The risk of corruption is too high.

Airtel was not beaten airtel back down. And it is very stupid for govt to give license to a company that have no structure.it is a shame

Why are u bitter abt something u are ignorant abt?

What else do want from company that is into Telecommunication system already?

The company is licensed by the NCC to provide and operate Local Interconnect and International carrier services.
The company operates under three licenses, including interconnecting exchange, international data access, and value-added services, providing cloud hosting or co-location services.

In data service Network like 5G, Telecommunication companies doesn't need to have similar structure to peovide both voice and data network like other NSPs.

Govt didn't give any company free licence, they publicly advertised their auction, and the winners won the auction. Only two companies were expected to win the bid and airtel lost earlier in the run!

Common guys.... Its is clearly obvious that there is an in side we we game here. I support many of us here who say Airtel back out and truth is Airtel has been satisfactory to an extent both data and voice. But a company you just heard of on the day of license bidding and then became either first or second winner of bid is suspicious, no history whatsoever relating to telecom. Remember these guys every day schemes out bigger ways of cashing out. Indeed things are happening. May God have mercy and intervene. Someone is metioning Glo, Glo no send them as they have seen the hand writing probably right from the beginning and not ready to dash money to greedy in house guys in NCC for now.
