It is a bid! Highest bidder wins! Bidders were pre-qualified. If they pay, they own the spectrum. Know that nobody will pay that kind of money and not make use of it. Also, the govt can revoke it if they fail to make use if it.

What a terrible nation, the same way they allocated Power and Petroleum sector to themselves with no meaningful progress yet, I hate it when a Nigerian investor amongst multinationals is licensed to handle a key business component in this country, what they do is to extort masses and rip them off for the services which they never render, how can this strange and alien name get the license in the midst of the globally recognized telecom giants..... 5G would end in tears with this Manfab, just watch out

Sorry op. It still doesn't make sense to me. It's not about the money for me. Ofcourse we understand how our country runs, there are definitely more to how they could amass such huge investment than we currently know.

My concern is how they even qualified to bid without having the necessary infrastructure to run the 5G spectrum and even beat Airtel Nigeria to it.

It's not a monopoly. Two of them won the bid. If Mafab Communications do not role out or role out poor 5g services, you can port to the second company or stick to 4g. There are alternatives.

That's how they sold PHCN to companies without prior experience in power generation or distribution. In other sane countries, you must show a strong competence to handle such a project before you even bid for it, but it's not like that in Nigeria, everything is all about money. I won't be surprised if Pantami has a connection with this company. These people are just bent on destroying this country with nepotism. No problem let their Mafab serve the North while MTN serves the South. smh!
