I support this angle or hypotesis. Ndoki dialect of Igbo was the aboriginal language but was almost displaced just like the Ibibiod language in those axis before the coming of the slave trade that saw a mass influx of Isuama dominated slaves into the Island. This move single-handedly revived the language and push the Kalabari dialect now dubiously called Ibani into submission. What Ijaw pirates couldn't achieve in Bonny/Opobo, they succeded in Brass, Nembe, Kalabari and in some sections of Okrika.

Today the Ijaw labdgrabbers led by Alagoa the fraud, are trying to push Kalabari dialect called Ibani into Bonny mainstream. "The speak Ibani initiative, the stop speaking Igbo", "the revive your Ibani mother tongue", "the stop saying biko but Ibama", etc has been part of this agenda since Adaka Boro couldn't wipe off the people during the civil war genocide.

The game is now exposed. Ndigbo over to you.
One would think you are accusing Alagoa falsely, but even peer reviews and reputable minds called his book a Fraud.
Look at Latham, one of the leading minds in his field, have to say about Alagoa's history on Bonny.

Every Igbo man must save this page. This totally obliterates that fiction written by Alagoa. Trying to landgrab with his book.
Thank you for sharing this page.

So he avoided original sources. What a quack job. John Adams, Captain Crow, Dr. Baikie and Glynn have been vindicated. Some of those individuals observed Ubani first-hand, and here we have a quack that goes by the name Alagoa, trying to see the sun with his face completely in the shade.

Even a European foremost scholar called it out as a fraud. The Scientific repository like JSTOR flagged it as fraudulent.

..and Igbo scholars didn't take the time to call him out publicly for every one to know.

This is blatant fraud.

This doesn't come as a surprise. Any objective person who goes through the original history of Bonny would have no doubt about it's Igbo origin and people who have survived for several centuries on that island.

Thanks for bringing this truth to fore.

Infact,I deliberately avoided any publication linked with Alagoa so none of you would have something to hold, and I believe others did same.

It is annoying that CAMBRIDGE even had to warn readers by calling out the fraudulent attempt in 1975 and published it in the African history Journal and did a special publication about this.

They published SPECIAL NOTICES for two books/articles, one of them being Algoa in 1975, calling it the blatant fraud.

Europeans/world best universities, journals were aware, but none of our Igbo scholars could call out the fraud?

See the annotation at the bottom; it is on the Cambridge University website and publication and hosted on JSTOR.

Just read the thing closely now and found out that it was University of Ibadan that did the damage and the clean up was from the University of Swansea.

So it was Afonja's Handiwork all this while.

Chei Afonjas are evil spirits. I always knew that nothing good can come out of Afonjas. Bunch of wicked people.

ChinenyeN:

From the works of Charles Ogan (1980s), Finapiri (2001), Alagoa & Fombo (1960s) and Nzewuwa (1980s), among others, it is well-established that the Amanyanabo system is a modern monarchy system that first came about in the 17th century among most Eastern Ijaw communities.

Nzewuwa (1983) showed that the House System and a feudal/factional kingship system already existed in the Elem Kalabari area. Kalabari oral traditions and documentary evidence from European traders suggests that these institutions came to be in active practice by the 17th century. Additionaly, Amakiri I (the first of the modern Kalabari monarchs), is recollected as becoming the first "overall Amanyanabo", creating the modern Kalabari dynasty and galvanizing the Kalabari kingdom. This tradition of Amakiri I becoming the first "overall Amanyanabo" suggests the presence of other feudal kings (at least some, not all) going by "Amanyanabo" (Alagoa, 1970s, 2005).

Unlike the series of events/oral traditions of Kalabari, the picture was rather different for Okrika. Charles Ogan (1980s) did a decent job in marking down a chronology for the adoption of both the House System and the Amanyanabo System within Okrika (which Charles Ogan refers to as Amanyanaboship). Charles shows that the Amanyanabo institution did not exist in Okrika prior to its adopted in the seventeeth century. The first Amanyanabo of Okrika (Ado I) was installed as part of the ongoing effort to free Okrika from Bonny's political and economic authority.

Finapiri (2001) researched and collected Bonny oral traditions which credit Perekule as having brought drastic changes to the kingship system in Bonny in the 18th century, in which Perekule was officially proclaimed as the "Amanyanabo", starting the new Amanyanabo dynasty in Bonny. For Bonny, both the House System and the Amanyanabo system were imported between the late 17th to early 18th centuries (Alagoa 1971, Oriji 2011).

And watch how sho conspicuously avoided this thread once she was exposed!

The reason we haven't gotten deep to Bonny Opobo issue on NL since 2000s in the days of Onlytruth, EzeUche, Obiagu1, Dede1 and other Igbo gladiators then, is that at any point in time we seem to gather momentum, ChinenyeN comes in as an in-house spy ware and scatters things by cautioning for diplomacy and claiming that only Southern Igbos especially Ngwa, which she was masquerading as, should Wade into the issue.

https://www.nairaland.com/6139964/what-ndoki-people-say-themselves/3

At every Bonny and Opobo discussion on this forum for past decade, ChinenyeN appears and play the cunning neutral pacifier role while pandering to Ijaw nationalist angle, and we died the matter, because we thought she was one of us.

For real. I actually thought I was the only one that noticed the change in mood. Probably thought they would shout NdịIgbo down, but their madness was met with madness and evidence. They're now seeking a calmer conversation. People that betrayed the old Eastern region where they were getting half of the revenue from sales of natural resources to Nigeria because they made a deal with the devil. Today, they're managing a meagre 13%, which was actually pulled off with the help of Igbos; The can't fish nor farm because of degradation, no control of their oil Wells (good Job Fulanis!!); and Northern Politicians are thinking of even removing the 13% derivatives, because, to them, we're one people, one nation.
