How Many days does it take to get your passport after your visa has been approved?

Your passport number is unique, it doesn't change!
so I should go with both passports? Or should I fill a new DS-160 ?

Good day good people.

Please guys advice. I now have an admission for my graduate studies for Fall 2022. My I-20 form has also gotten to me and it reads August 22 as program starting day.

When is the best time to apply for visa ?

And do I go about it, from SEVIS fee payment, MRV and the rest ?

Help a brother bikonu...

Congratulations
Next is to apply for visa by feeling the ds160, paying for visa and choosing a date. Since you will resume August 2022, you can choose normal regular date in Abuja and safe stress of having to apply for an expedited appointment. SEVIS fee can be paid by someone in the US already so you can ask your friends or families over here to help you pay.

Best of luck.

I applied for EA in Lagos, it got denied. I filled another de-160 and applied for another EA in Abuja yesterday and I got an email now that it has been denied again. Please what’s all these? Why is this happening? What exactly am I supposed to do differently? Why is the embassy doing this to us? After all the struggle to get admission, funding, etc, I can’t even schedule an appointment for a visa interview. This isn’t fair at all.

Perform a WES evaluation of your academic transcripts (ND & HND). Once that is sorted and you know where you stand on the US Grade Scale, then you have a sense of direction.

Oh! I just replied you before seeing this! Still perform a WES evaluation, if your GPA comes up to 2.80, you do have a chance! Generally, you do have a chance if what you have done between your diploma and now is compelling enough! I am aware of a US CS professor at UIUC whose undergraduate GPA was 2.4/4.0 on the US Scale! And I read somewhere about an Asian whose GPA was even 2.16/4.00 at undergrad and got into Carnegie Mellon's CS Program!

The challenge with your profile is that it's a polytechnic diploma but I think you stand a chance still. Check this out: https://www.nairaland.com/370346/what-hnd-equivalent-usa

Best of luck!

Hello people!

I got my EA denied in Lagos yesterday and I reapplied to Abuja yesterday. Today, I got an approval mail so I proceeded to rescheduling, However, the first option was Jan 14th I picked it because I had no choice. My school resumes January 7th and classes begins January 12th.

Please, is there anything else I can do? Maybe getting a support letter from my school to take along to the embassy? Thank you

So, it looks like I was the only one who got denied for an EA in Abuja. I submitted everything required - i20, passport, sevis recceipt, mrv fee receipt - yet I got denied with no explanation. What exactly am I supposed to do in this case? Is there someone I need to talk to about this pls? Was there a format for writing the request that I did not follow? Those of you who got approved, how did you write the request?

MY TRANSCRIPT
Visa Approved at Lagos Embassy this Morning.

My Lagos Surge date was approved for today. Interview time was 6:30am. Reached the venue at about 5:45am. Had the interview at about 8:30.

Firstly, I need to thank God, "cause I'm a product of his Mercy and Favour. Even this interview was favour.

I was the first to be approved this Morning at the Lagos Embassy. Fifteen others before me all received denial. It is God!

MS program with 80% funding as a Research Assistant.

VO: Good Morning, How are you?
ME: I'm fine thank you.
VO: Your documents...
ME: I passed them.
VO: What was your undergrad program?
ME: Animal Production and Health.
VO: Have you worked in this field?
ME: I am not currently working but I have worked in this field before. (I didn't get the question at first. Thought he asked if I was currently working)
VO: How many schools did you apply to?
ME: Three (3)
VO: Why did you choose this School?
ME: They have a concentration that I am very much interested in which is Integrated Animal Health Systems cause I am passionate about Animal Health.
VO: What would you do with this Agricultural degree?
ME: I intend to apply for a lecturer II position at the University where I graduate, ...where I had my first degree. Basically, I want to grow up the Academic ladder to become a professor like my Mom.
VO: What does your father do? (Cause he must have seen on my I-20 that my father is my sponsor)
ME: He is a Clergyman and the founder of a Ministry. He has been running it for over 30 years now.
VO: Alright, you are qualified...I will be keeping your passport...come collect in a week... congratulations. (He passed me a white paper. I couldn't process most of the other things he was saying).

PS: Though I prepared to give extensive answers, I gave short and straightforward answers because I observed him being impatient with those giving long answers and beating about the bush.

Thank you Nairaland. I joined in this month and you have been tremendously helpful. I'm grateful.

I think it boils down to the reasons you gave for the EA. You need to give them good excuses

So sorry about your experience. Might it be related to a cooling period that is required (after being previously denied a visa) before you can apply for an emergency interview? If not, see if you can apply again. In my case, I attached Admission Letter, SEVIS, i20, International Passport, and DS 160 Confirmation Page.

I gave reasons like: (1) Program start date bla bla bla (I mentioned the start date) and is within 60 days; (2) Compulsory orientation program for new Master's students happening before the start date (I mentioned the date) ; (3) Quarantine purposes and need to be in the US early enough yo observe the protocol; (4) Non-transferability of my scholarship to any subsequent semester.

Thank you, man. I'd just keep the July date I received and use it for next fall. I will defer my admission to next fall. I believe I don't need to pay another visa fee, right? All I'd have to do is fill another ds-160, and update my profile with the new confirmation number. Is this correct?

DM me for the details, your alternative is to try to fill another day-160 then try to update if they will allow you another EA otherwise you will have to pay another fee for a fresh application and another EA

Hello sir. How is Arkansas. I have a question

Was your application reviewed by just submitting Unofficial copies of your test scores?I intend to submit official copies, hope it won't affect my chances of admission or possible funding. Thank youm

I submitted official test scores then. But unofficial transcript is accepted.
