Visa approved on Tuesday. First attempt.
PhD. Full scholarship from school(TA) Was asked the following questions.

1. I see that you have a scholarship, how did you get it and why this school?

Answer: I was able to get a mentor from the school who I had been relating with for a while. The mentor recommended me. Also, the school is affiliated with the school where I did my masters.

2. Ok. What is the name of the school where you did your masters.

Answer: Told him the school.

3. What do you want to do after you are done with this program?

Answer. I want to be a lecturer.

4. You mean you want to teach?

Answer: Yes

5. Where do you want to teach?

Answer: At the University of Lagos where I also have a mentor that I have been working with.

6. Okay. I see that you have some personal funds here. This is too little. How do you expect to support yourself (I put $1000 in my i20 as personal funds).

Answer: I will use my personal savings.

Then he gave the golden answer. “Your visa will be approved…. “. He seemed pleasant and smiled sometimes.

Location: Lagos

Was also the first to be approved on Tuesday.
I give glory to God.
I thank all the contributors to this forum as well. Reading here helped me prepare.

Congratulations on your approval!! Could you also share your educational background such as course, CGPA, and GRE range if applicable please? This could potentially help other intending students make decisions.

After taking 3 bottle stout here goes my transcript.
Lagos Embassy
VO: Good morning
Good morning
VO: Where are you going to in the US
ME: Eastern Michigan University for my MBA
VO: Do you have anyone in the US
ME: Yes, I have a brother.
VO: How did he get to the US
ME: I think he went through school and he started working in a medical research field because he studied outside the country in Ukraine
VO: Which school did he finished from in the US
ME: I really don't have an idea because I was busy with my undergraduate study as at then and I haven't bothered to ask about it.
VO: So you don't the school your brother attended
VO: Yes, ma.I was very busy with my undergraduate studies as at then.
VO: How long has he been in the US
Me: I think about 7years
VO: Who will be sponsoring you
ME: My mom
VO: What does she do?
Me: She manages my late dads finances. My dad worked in Shell for 35 years and he had hotels in PH and Delta
VO: oya take blue paper and great
Me:
Yeah I failed to chip in I had EMU success scholarship of $3100
But I this was my last race because I really needed this MBA.
Anyone knows a better school in CA?
Critics are welcome?
My Transcript is for learning purpose for future aspirant.

I believe you already have a good idea why you were delayed. The boldened text should give you an idea if you don't. Your interview should mostly focus on you and your study intentions but your brother history took most part of it. The fact that you didn't know the name of school he attended or the year he has been in the US. You have to get all that info before you try again.

How did he become a PR? Why can't s/he cosign a loan for the sibling and that way makes himself independent of the sibling's application?
PR through EB visa

Let him cosign any of the student loans for you if you want him to be independent of your application however, I don't foresee any issue with him being your sponsor.

Yes you can get a letter of extension from your school. And don't forget to mention that to the VO in case you are asked questions concerning resumption.
Best of luck

I got delayed recently too despite I was the one sponsoring myself but I used my wife as Co sponsor, the consular asked me what does she do, told him and he gave me the blue paper I wish I didn't tell him my wife is a co sponsor

Na you use your hand deny yourself visa

You shouldn’t have said your wife is a co-sponsor

By the way, when the VO asked you what you do for a living, what did you say?

MY TRANSCRIPT
Visa Approved at Lagos Embassy this Morning.

My Lagos Surge date was approved for today. Interview time was 6:30am. Reached the venue at about 5:45am. Had the interview at about 8:30.

Firstly, I need to thank God, "cause I'm a product of his Mercy and Favour. Even this interview was favour.

I was the first to be approved this Morning at the Lagos Embassy. Fifteen others before me all received denial. It is God!

MS program with 80% funding as a Research Assistant.

VO: Good Morning, How are you?
ME: I'm fine thank you.
VO: Your documents...
ME: I passed them.
VO: What was your undergrad program?
ME: Animal Production and Health.
VO: Have you worked in this field?
ME: I am not currently working but I have worked in this field before. (I didn't get the question at first. Thought he asked if I was currently working)
VO: How many schools did you apply to?
ME: Three (3)
VO: Why did you choose this School?
ME: They have a concentration that I am very much interested in which is Integrated Animal Health Systems cause I am passionate about Animal Health.
VO: What would you do with this Agricultural degree?
ME: I intend to apply for a lecturer II position at the University where I graduate, ...where I had my first degree. Basically, I want to grow up the Academic ladder to become a professor like my Mom.
VO: What does your father do? (Cause he must have seen on my I-20 that my father is my sponsor)
ME: He is a Clergyman and the founder of a Ministry. He has been running it for over 30 years now.
VO: Alright, you are qualified...I will be keeping your passport...come collect in a week... congratulations. (He passed me a white paper. I couldn't process most of the other things he was saying).

PS: Though I prepared to give extensive answers, I gave short and straightforward answers because I observed him being impatient with those giving long answers and beating about the bush.

Thank you Nairaland. I joined in this month and you have been tremendously helpful. I'm grateful.
. Good morning, big Congratulations to you. Please I am in Animal science line too and I want to apply for fall 2022.
Please could you tell me the name of the school and how you were able to get the funding. Please

I'm currently in search of schools and sending mails to some of them requesting for an application waiver. What should I include in the mail to improve my chances of receiving the waived fee.

Hello House,

Does this write up fit for an EA application ? ;

I write to request the need for an emergency appointment for my visa interview nearer than January 06, 2022, as the school program begins on January 18, 2022, while the international orientation program comes up on January 13, 2022. Moreover, there is a need for me to have arrived there like ten days earlier due to the quarantine exercises that I will need to undertake. I will really be happy if I am considered for the appointment. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi guys, it's been a long time here. The page helped me during my admission and visa process. So many pages has passed. Congrats to all those that have gotten their visas already! And to those who were delayed, don't give up, refire. The end goal should be your motivation.

To anyone coming to Texas tech University in Lubbock this spring, feel free to reach out to me. I will be giving any one arriving to Lubbock a free ride from the airport to their destination now till when school resumes.

PS: please already have arrangements on where you'd be staying prior to arriving.

One love.
Hello my good man
Pls I ll like to apply to Texas tech Uni
Can I connect with you to answer some questions I have...?
Thanks

Pls house, my sis got a 2023 appointment date after being denied Visa on her first attempt. Her school will resume in January. She doesn’t qualify for EA. Should she cancel the appointment and keep checking for a closer date?

By the way, the whole thing doesn’t make sense because her Sevis and Visa fees would have expired by then.
