I used to have this egbon panel beater whom I patronised to fix my car then when I first started driving. I noticed on 2 occasions after taking my car to the car wash that the back door wouldn't open from inside.
I took the car to him twice and he'd asked me to drop the car whilst he fixed it. Of course, I paid. On the 3rd occasion, another mechanic was there and he showed me that it was the child lock that the car wash guys were tampering with.
E pain me die and I felt so stupid. I never patronised that guy again. Was that small subterfuge worth it?

Tell someone point blank I'll charge you 5k for this and this what I'll collect last, if he wants you to handle it, good if not, he should take it elsewhere not someone swindling the client telling him you need to buy this or that knowing that it is all lies.

When I discovered I only needed to put the heat of a soldering iron close to the charging port of my phone to fix the charging port shaking, I was mad with the engineer who charges me on the premise of changing the port against fixing it.

If you tell me for a shaky charging port I'll pay 2k and nothing less I will understand and not hold a grudge if I discover you don't even do much on the phone than telling me you changed something and you didn't.

Showing the customer how to fix 'minor' issues by themselves is a matter of personal discretion on the part of the engineer. It has nothing to do with being 'straightforward' or not.

Remember, the phone engineer we are talking about here was honest enough to admit what could be wrong with the phone.

In life there are certain things that are at our personal discretion to do, or not to do them: it's okay if we do them. But if we don't do them we have not committed any offence or crime. What point am I trying to make here? It would have been fantastic if the engineer had showed the customer how to adjust the phone setting by himself in case of next time. But the engineer didn't commit any offence for not showing him!

Every time I had to fix my phones, I tend to end up with a different issue aside the one it had initially.

The last one got calibrator issues, like it wasn't responding to touch again, took it to a repair, he told me some stories about separating the screen and all, then vandalized it such that I had to pay for both, within 1 month, the screen started going blank at intervals, took it back, he opened it, pressed one or two things, it still persisted.

Took it somewhere else, they said it is panel, those ones charged 10k for a panel without warranty.

I calmly left them, entered another shop in the complex and bought a new phone.

I remember when i was using Siemens phone, i mistakingly switched off the screen and keyboard light. Throughout that day, i didn't get myself, i thought the LED light had cut. I took it to an engineer, he asked me to pay 5k which I begged him to collect 3k, he agreed, he asked me to come and collect it after three days, when I went to his shop, he asked for additional money which was 3k because the LED light was too expensive. In a nutshell, i collected my phone and money. To my amusement, when i was pressing the phone, under setting i saw display (backlight and screen light). I pressed it immediately the screen light and keyboard light switched on.

This is the meaning of knowledge is power my friend. The repairer didn't sin or do anything wrong. Don't forget this info must be in the manual of the phone but the man didn't read it. The 2k is even cheap. A free knowledge you refuse to learn may cost you millions when you desperately needed it

Hello there gentlemen,

I was using my Samsung Galaxy Tab A two days ago when the battery hit zero and it went off. Due to the urgency of the task at hand, I hooked it up to its adapter and turned it back to continue.
Sadly the phone froze soon after it reached the homescreen and went off. It has refused to come on ever since.

Please what could be the fault?
I ask in the hope that one of you won't mind giving out some free advice in the spirit of Xmas. I need it so i don't get bilked when i go to computer village to fix it after this festive period

when it comes to phones,I always change it every 2.5 years. I can't remember the last time I went to repair a phone.... If my phone has issues I change immediately.

He said 5k when he gave me the money, I collected 2k and gave him 3k back. He asked why, I told him that what I did was not even up to 2k. He was so happy. Since that day, the man will just be dashing me money from time to time.

I did something similar to one top oga b4, when I was called for the job, I figured it was just a cable that was connected wrongly, so I just fixed it & showed him what was wrong. And said it was on the house.....long story short, d man secured a govt job for my cousin freely
